Posted 1 year agoI have been going to GB North York for almost 3 months now. It has been an incredible journey so far. Barba and Douglas are incredible professors who created an amazing environment and community. Amanda is also fantastic, she is very informative. This is the best gym to learn Ji-Jitsu, an amazing facility filled with amazing people! Costa
Posted 1 year agoHaving recently had the privilege of training at GB north York, I can confidently say this is the best Brazil Jiu-Jitsu gym in the GTA. The professors Barba and Douglas are very informative, patient, and kind, making every session not only fun but highly rewarding. I cannot recommend GB North York highly enough for anyone seeking top tier Jiu-Jitsu instruction in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Posted 1 year agoI’ve been training at Gracie Barra for about five months and can’t say enough great things about Barba and Douglas. Both professors. Just classy Brazilians. What stands out about the instructors is their attention, and welcoming attitude, to new students. It can be intimidating to join a new sport, especially one that is physically challenging, but they are so nice and patient with new students. There is a real sense of family and friendship to be found; it’s not just mats and walls. Lots of laughing and joking going on. There are early morning classes, lunch time classes, and evening classes; train three times a day, five days a week, if you like. They offer Saturday afternoon classes, as well, so classes six days a week. Kids classes are very popular and they get a real boost of confidence and self esteem from jiu jitsu, not to mention much needed exercise, so definitely worth the effort. It so important for a child to be able to defend themselves, and jiu jitsu provides that opportunity without any of the striking/aggression involved in other martial arts. Some couches and chairs for parents/guests to sit and watch class. Some snacks for sale, if you feel the need to satisfy. As a 50 year old, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to handle classes, but they’re fine, it’s no problem. Training partners are respectful and understand that everyone has their own level they need to work at, so I haven’t had any problems keeping pace through a class. It’s just a great experience and I’m so enjoying being there!! See you soon.
