Kempo is not the usual hard form of Karate. Here you do not need to sit on the twine. Mish is an excellent coach and a person with whom you can negotiate. I would say that he is a family coach. I would recommend this trainer for those who are not in the best shape.
Sensi Mish is a fantastic teacher, he has the unique ability to split moves up into connecting segments that are easy to learn and easy to reconnect into the complete move. He is patient and extremely knowledgeable in martial arts.
I highly recommend him for beginners and advanced martial artists looking to improve their skills or learn new styles.
I have learned Modular Knife from him in both online (live video) and in person classes, and have increased my skill set considerably with both of these methods.
I attended an online Modular Knife User Certification course at Artisan Martial Arts. Sensei Mish is a great instructor who's able to break down the Modular Knife curriculum into manageable pieces. His video equipment is state-of-the-art, which made learning via "Zoom" a great learning experience. I would highly recommend Artisan Martial Arts, whether it be in-person instruction or online classes.
Mish is the best in his field. He really knows how to teach and gets individual approach to each student. Me and my son took lessons from him and we enjoyed it a lot. If you are considering taking classes - Mish is the best person to learn from!
Having trained with instructor Handwerker off and on for a decade as my schedule permits, I know that he is always improving his art as any good teacher/student should. He is open minded to other styles but is also confident and knowledgeable with his own. There isn't macho egos in his school and as such it is very approachable. He is dedicated to the success of his students and promotes on merit and skill and this results in true training. Thank you for the real deal education. I am a martial artists because of the education I've received through Handwerker Martial Arts.
I have worked with Sensei Mish Handwerker for over a decade and I have found very few martial artists whose conviction and dedication to the martial arts to match his. I am glad that he is bringing his knowledge of both karate and Filipino Marital Arts tot he city of Vancouver (my home town). His presence will raise the bar on martial arts standards in this community.
