I was in town for work and was able to drop by and work in with the guys. Plenty of knowledge and comradery to take advantage of and have a good time. Started the class with warm ups drilled a few take downs and then opened up and got some rolls in! I would highly recommend stopping by and trying something new if you have never jiu jitsu because everyone is very friendly.

I had the opportunity to drop in to a class while traveling for work. What an amazing school with a very knowledgeable professor, great students, and a clean environment. They welcomed me with open arms and allowed me to train with all levels. A safe environment for either newbies or well rounded skilled practitioners. Thank you for the opportunity to train with your team! 🙏

Best part of my day is when I walk into Cavalo bjj to train. My three kids do the kids class, and my wife loves the women’s program with Kindra. Zach offers expert instruction. It’s a great gym full of great people.

Cavalo BJJ is an exceptional training facility that sets the standard for what a martial arts gym should be. From the moment you step in, the cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere are immediately apparent, creating a safe and welcoming environment for all practitioners, regardless of experience level. Zach Lenon, the head instructor, is truly outstanding. His deep knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is evident in every class, where he delivers thorough and thoughtful instruction tailored to the needs of his students. Zach's ability to break down complex techniques into understandable steps is unparalleled, and he ensures that everyone in the class, from beginners to advanced practitioners, can grasp and apply the techniques effectively. The atmosphere at Cavalo BJJ is incredibly supportive. Zach fosters a community where everyone feels encouraged to learn and grow. Whether you're there to compete or just to improve your fitness and self-defense skills, you'll find the instruction at Cavalo BJJ to be top-notch, and the environment to be one of the best you'll ever train in. Highly recommended!

Best jiu jitsu gym in mid Missouri. I have been training here for over ten years. I have trained jiu jitsu all over the mid west and west coast and Zach is as knowledgeable as anyone in the industry.

I was in Columbia, MO for a business trip and reached out to Professor Zach to come visit as a guest. The entire academy showed so much hospitality and generosity. The instruction was top notch and if I'm ever back in the area I'm going to visit again. I've been training for over five years in San Diego at a few different academy's and Cavalo is one of my favorite that I've experienced. Check it out!

I'm visiting Columbia, Missouri and I wanted to train at a good school to keep in shape for an upcoming competition back home. Professor Zach Lenon was very welcoming, ran a big clean gym with lots of class options, tons of smart, tough and welcoming students. I would train here again or permanently if I lived in town. Thank you so much Zach! I learned a lot and got a great work out!

Excellent place to train in Como. Coach Zach is a very technical and in detail oriented teacher; a class of purple/browns and whites can both learn a tremendous amount. Also a beautiful facility. 5/5 recommend

I was visiting from out of town & had some free time, on a training partners recommendation I checked out Cavalo BJJ. What a great place! The gym was clean, training partners & instructor were very welcoming & I learned a lot in one class. Unlike many gyms, being a mid-day class, they started on time, ran very crisp, and ended on time. That worked great for me to fit in a workout on my trip. If you live in the Columbia area - join Cavalo BJJ, if you're in town, drop in for a class - you'll be glad you did. Zach Lenon runs a great gym!

Very welcoming Gym. Zach Lenon, professor at cavalo is awesome. I was a weary traveler looking to train. Zack was extremely inviting and quick with a joke. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone in the area looking to train. For all levels of Brazilian jujitsu.

I visited Cavalo BJJ while traveling. The teaching is great, the jiu jitsu is legit, and the people are friendly and welcoming. Instruction included both traditional, self-defense oriented techniques, and modern competition-oriented techniques. The facility is very clean with comfortable mats and a changing room. Check them out!

It's a great and very professional place, both of my kids trained there for almost three years and had improved tremendously. This place was recommended to us by our previous coach when we moved to Columbia! Now after moving again to a different state we have tried three places and couldn't even find a place close to it!

Zach does a great job helping kids develop into better versions of themselves. He stresses focus, discipline and sportsmanship, which is something kids need more of these days. While the classes are fun, they also learn valuable skills that will serve them well for the rest of their lives.

I HAPPENED TO BE IN THE COLUMBIA AREA FOR BUSINESS AND STOPPED IN TO CHECK OUT THE SCHOOL AND SEE ONE OF THE CLASSES. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES I HAD THE MAIN INSTRUCTOR COME INTRODUCE HIMSELF AND STRUCK UP A CONVERSATION. I EXPLAINED THAT I WAS A WHITE BELT WHO HADN'T BEEN TRAINING THAT LONG AND HE QUICKLY INVITED ME TO COME BACK THE NEXT TIME I WAS IN TOWN AND TRAIN WITH HIS STUDENTS. HE WAS A SUPER NICE GUY AND THOUGH I'M ONLY IN THE AREA A FEW DAYS OUT OF THE YEAR I FULL INTEND ON TAKING HIM UP ON HIS GENEROUS OFFER THE NEXT TIME IM IN TOWN!

Very welcoming gym. I can tell they care about the development of the martial art, and not just trying to make money. I highly recommend if visiting from out of town.

Cavalo BJJ has been an awesome experience. Zach and each of the Professor’s provide a welcoming environment full of structure, discipline and fun. There is great focus and attention on fully understanding each technique before moving on. The techniques are incrementally applied and practiced with various partners of skill levels in a respectful manner.

I moved from Kansas City to Columbia 8 months ago and continued my training at Cavalo based on my former coaches recommendation. From day one Zack and his students have welcomed me into the gym and have been wonderful to train with. There are a three black belts that train/coach at this location which is absolutely amazing to be exposed to that level of experience during every class! I have also enrolled my 4 year old daughter into the kids class and it doesn’t disappoint! I would encourage anyone considering training to stop in and check out Cavalo! You will not be disappointed!

Visited from Springfield, MO with a group of five and were welcomed by everyone at Cavalo. Professor Zach spent time with each of us and provided individualized instruction for each of our games. His gym is very clean with excellent mats for rolling. His brothers, Levi and Ezra, were also there and provided guidance and assistance with technique and strategy for each of us. We had a great experience and will be making another trip to learn from Zach and everyone else at Cavalo. Would recommend this school for your BJJ game no matter where you are in your journey!!

I was in town for a couple days for work, and reached out to Professor Zach to drop in. Not only did Professor Zach and his students welcome me like family, but Professor Zach’s instruction was top notch. Also, his facilities were spotless. You could tell the pride that Professor Zach takes in his school. If you’re local and looking for a place to train, I highly recommend you check out Cavalo BJJ.

Thank you for letting me jump in! As a small female, it is intimidating to train at unfamiliar gyms, especially with bigger guys. Everyone was super friendly and it was a great experience. The position training was challenging and extremely beneficial. If I am ever in town, I will stop by again. Thank you!

Excellent Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym right here in Mid-Missouri! The Lenon brothers are world class Blackbelts bringing the best coaching and instruction in Missouri! Gym has a great laid back feel, but you can also get that extra hard training push if you want. The folks at the gym really make you feel at home.

Zack is a great instructor - he takes the time to explain movements multiple ways addressing any questions students may have. He is very hands on during the class and helps students address any issues they encounter with the movements.
