This is an amazing Brazilian jiu-jitsu school. The instructors are top-notch, and the overall culture of the class is friendly and welcoming to both seasoned practitioners and complete beginners. I highly recommend anyone looking to learn and practice Brazilian jiu-jitsu to check out this school.

Excellent BJJ gym. Was in town for work and was able to hit 3 days of no gi. I have next to none no gi experience, and professor Trevor and all the people at the gym were amazing. Awesome instruction and great people. Very welcoming. Can’t recommend it enough!

Heroes Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an absolute gem in the world of martial arts! Situated in the heart, this dojo is not just a place to learn, but a community that welcomes you with open arms. As a newbie stepping onto the mats for the first time, I was met with nothing but encouragement and patience. Gumby and Eastside were awesome. The instructors here are top-notch, possessing a depth of knowledge that's truly inspiring. They take the time to ensure each student, regardless of experience, feels valued and understood. Beyond the technical skills, the camaraderie and team spirit within Heroes BJJ is palpable. Each session not only equips you with new moves but also instills discipline, resilience, and respect for the art. If you're considering diving into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, there’s no better place than Heroes BJJ to begin your journey. Oss!

Great gym , but even better are the people. Gumby has cultivated a great jiu jitsu community from the ground up. Instructors are knowledgeable and generous with their time. What is wonderful as well, I believe Gumby is one of the first people to really develop a fundamentals curriculum that continuously rotates allowing beginners to jump in whenever. I live an hour away and still make it a point to drop in every blue moon to see my friends and train at Heroes.

I want to give this gym a 5 star review! I attend here several days a week. The reason why I joined this academy is because they’re very welcoming, the coaches are all very helpful, the mats are very clean, and especially because there is no ego here!!

Amazing gym! Dropped in for an open mat and wow, everyone was super welcoming and the level of competition is excellent. There are some ridiculously high level people here, and the overall vibe is nice and chill with no egos. Everything is very clean and I love that they have a shower, highly recommended!

Had a great time training at Heroes. I was in town on business and dropped in for fundamentals class and open mat. Gumby and all his students were super friendly and welcoming. I was even treated to a Greek mythology lesson while learning half guard principles.

When visiting San Jose I’ve occasionally trained here. Everyone was always super welcoming and the instruction was first class.

Was visiting from out of town and dropped in to a 10am fundamentals class on a Saturday. Everyone was super inviting, the instruction was clear and concise, making sure we were able to get a clear number of reps in before moving on. Class concluded with a short rotation of rounds. A number of upper belts jumped in and let me work (relatively new white belt), but at the same time kept me humble. Awesome academy in regards to the instruction and the community!

I am visiting from out of town and these guys welcomed me to train and roll with them like I was part of the family. The instructor is very clear and the guys and gals are very friendly. Give them a shot.

I've been going to Heroes Martial arts on and off for about 8 years. Great place to train, great atmosphere and the instructors are friendly, and inviting. Come by and check it out if your in the downtown area. Or if you already practice bjj you can just do a drop in class. Highly recommended to all.

Great gym. Lots a space and good mats. I dropped in from out of town and was very welcomed. The early bird Jiu Jitsu class was great. Good group of grapplers with good skills.....even at 6:30 in the morning! Gumby (owner) was exceptionally humble and equally hospitable. I would recommend this as a home gym for anyone local wanting to learn Jiu Jitsu.
