Rafa is extremely helpful and passionate about BJJ, which shows in every part of the gym. He takes great care in his instruction and the culture that he creates. Chess club is definitely worth training at.

I started my BJJ journey here as a white belt and 2.5 years later I am so happy for my decision to join Chess Club. The coaching is world class and the community is amazing. Love the new larger mat space with padded pit walls similar to Karate Combat. Highly recommend for anyone interested in BJJ, from kids to beginners and seasoned grapplers.

I have been to many Jiu Jitsu clubs but Chess Club is BY FAR the best!!!! The club’s community is outstanding, but the training and knowledge itself is on another level! Rafa gives concepts and advice that makes something so complicated easy to understand and implement straight away! There has been so many moments where I’ve had to take a second to digest what Rafa has said makes you feel like you’ve instantly “levelled up”. I can’t recommend Chess Club enough, it’s simply the best!

This facility has a high quality standard and it is a state of the art social club. It is bringing back a touch of class to your local community club experience and has a great range of mobility, martial arts and creative art spaces inside the facility. There will be more to come from this community of great coaches and staff to organically intertwine social experiences for the Sunshine Coast.
