Urban Sanchez is the head coach at Urban Jiu Jitsu Academy and founder of Urban Warfare. He is an M1 World silver medalist at brown belt and a UT San Antonio graduate.
Such a passionate group of dudes who has great attention to technique and detail.
I'm a brown belt feather weight and had a good mix of sizes and skill levels to train with.
If you live here in san antonio and train, come stop by! It'll be a good time. It was for me.
Awesome jujitsu gym. My kids have been coming for a year now and they have grown so much. The coaches there are very hands on in training but also in guidance and ensuring everyone feel welcome and like they belong
I had an amazing experience training here. The instruction by Urban is very clear, structured, and detail-oriented. The team is very welcoming and willing to help, which makes a big difference whether you’re new or experienced.
They cater to every body & I was very impressed at how engaged the kids were during their class.

This gym is incredibly welcoming and friendly and as others have said, makes you feel like family! Coach Urban is great with people of all skills and ages. My girls also tried the Women's class with Coach Hannah who is absolutely wonderful with the kids. We will definitely be back
Coach Urban and coach Hannah take the time to make a welcoming and family environment. My husband and daughter have loved going to this gym and our 3 year old couldn't wait to join them. The gym started a tots class given how many young kiddos they have signed up and they didn't hesitate to include our youngest. Coach let her and her sister take time on the side of the mat for her to learn at her own pace. My oldest is home schooled and tries to go to three classes a day just for how much she enjoys practice and the company at the gym. Couch Hannah works extremely hard to challenge the girls and give them individual attention at practices to support them and their development and my daughter absolutely loves going to practice with her everyday. Whether you are an adult, your kids are teens, or you have younger kids this gym is the perfect fit especially if you want to bring the whole family.
Coach Urban is an amazing coach with patience and enthusiasm. My 2 kids love the challenge he gives and his classes are very accommodating throughout the day, especially for homeschooled kids. I would recommend Urban Jiu-Jitsu for all ages to come and try the gym.

My 15 yr old son has been under Coach Urban going on 2 years now and has evolved at a rapid rate not only on the mats as a competitor but also as a young man with discipline and drive. Coach Urban encouraged me to get on the mats back in Sept and I have since competed, as well as become healthier physically and mentally. I’ve built a stronger bond with my son and gained great teammates. Couldn’t ask for a better coach or gym!
This is the best gym with the best coach! My son has been with Coach Urb since he started almost 2 years ago and it’s been the best experience for him, on and off the mats. If you’re looking for someone to inspire and motivate, Coach Urban is the absolute best. My son has grown into a respectful young man who is always willing to help others because of his coach and this sport. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a team who truly has your back and best interest at heart.
