Took my 9 year old to a birthday party and he had a blast. They learned a little bit about BJJ and then had some wild Nerf battles... including one against the parents! Definitely recommended for parties and it might just introduce your child to a very effective martial art.

Hands down one if the best decisions made in recent years was joining Bayshore BJJ. Put aside the excellent instructors lead by coach Joe, this is one of the most welcoming establishments around. The Family atmosphere is unmatched! The amount of great people I have gotten to know since joining is wonderful! Everyone is kind, helpful and all of that starts at the tome with coach Joe who is someone you absolutely want in your corner! Grateful to have found Bayshore BJJ.

Bayshore BJJ has far exceeded our expectations. We enrolled our son in 2020 to build his confidence. He was five and started as a Lion Cub. He's now a grey belt who is comfortable on the mat and stands up to bullies in school. Our daughter joined last year and is on her way to earning her second belt. Even my husband takes Muy Thai classes. Not only is Bayshore BJJ a great place to learn martial arts, they give back to the community. We're a proud Bayshore BJJ family and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an establishment that provides valuable self defense skills and a feeling of camaraderie.

Iv been coming here for about 3 years now and brought my daughter as well. She started off in the lions cubs (3-5) and now does the 5-8 classes. I got to see her go from being shy and timid little baby that wouldn’t even speak to anyone else in the room, to a brave and fierce little girl that enjoys the mats. It’s such a safe and welcoming environment that the kids never wanna leave, they also have other non jujitsu events going on all the time. Don’t let professor joe wrap his arm around your head.

Great place for kids and adults. Adult classes- welcoming and understanding. They take the time to teach to make you better. not just to show you how awesome they are, which they actually are by the way. Kids- fun safe. They teach at the kids level. Everything relates back to core skills like focus and attention to detail. I may be far from a child psychologist but helping kids understand how to think and work through stress the right way won’t just help in a dark alley it will also show its benefits when they apply that to any stress the encounter.

I have felt comfortable since the first time I walked into Bayshore BJJ. Coach Joe and staff are friendly, polite, welcoming and professional. The attention to detail on the instruction, easy going environment and lack of egos in the instructors and students makes for a very positive experience every time I walk in. I have and continue to bring my kids there for instruction, and for our favorite Saturday morning family classes. The mats are cleaned after every class and I never have to question if we are working in a clean space. Bayshore is my first BJJ school and one that I chose very carefully after reviewing their website and social media. Their active social media really helped to feel out the school which encouraged me to do a trial class. I reached out on a Friday and was set up for my trial class within hours. The school provides trial Gi's. I felt very welcome during my first class and appreciated how supportive and friendly all the other students were, one who introduced himself and immediately offered to partner and guide me through the drills. I signed up right after and have been training for over half a year now after years of putting it off. The instructors are passionate, knowledgeable and approachable. The schedule and class variation (plus a Sunday women's class) is great and I really appreciate the vast mat space and the gym's cleanliness. The culture at this school is amazing and even though I am new to the sport, other members are mindful of my skill level and size while training. Those with more experience always ensure newer members are looked after in warm-ups and during class and are always open to live training regardless of the skill difference. The instructors are very attentive to how techniques are executed and help you work through them if you get stuck or need fine-tuning. Even though there are numerous schools far closer to me, I do not mind the longer drive because of the great atmosphere. I have visited many more schools now for open mats and I still hold firm that Bayshore is the right place for me and highly recommend it to anybody, new or seasoned.

I am visiting from out of state and am grateful to have had the opportunity to train at Bayshore BJJ. The instructor Joe and his students provided a fun, safe, welcoming training environment. The technique instruction was detailed and we learned some really cool stuff from a black belt instructor. The team has all belt levels from white belt to brown and black belts and people of all sizes so live training gives many opportunities to get different types of looks. Overall, a great gym and if I lived in the area, this gym would be my home gym. Plus they have morning classes during the week which works great for those that want to get a morning workout in. Highly recommend Bayshore BJJ!

I’ve trained at and visited many gyms over the decade that I’ve been training BJJ. In that time I’ve experienced a multitude of instructional styles and teaching methods. These days the aspect of training I personally care the most about is quality of instruction, and Bayshore’s instruction is head and shoulders above any other gym I’ve experienced. The owner, Joe Dockery, focuses on specific positions and movements over extended periods of time to enhance retention of techniques. He never just throws random and disconnected techniques at you from day to day hoping something sticks. Coach Joe is a student of BJJ and is always advancing and testing his own game through competition as well as studying the most modern and effective jiu-jitsu and then sharing it with his students. But it doesn’t end there, the Bayshore team maintains the cleanest and best equipped facility of any I’ve been to and has built the strongest children’s bjj program I’ve seen too. The kids love the Pokémon nights and Nerf nights.

This place is amazing! My son has been taking classes for a few months and absolutely loves it. He has learned a lot about Jiu Jitsu but also how to make friends as he has had to work with different partners instead of the same partner every time. His confidence has also improved since starting Jiu Jitsu. Coach Joe and all of his staff are great teachers and hands on and patient with the students every single class. I would recommend Coach Joe and his facility to anyone thinking about enrolling their child in a Jiu Jitsu class. I looked at other schools and this one is truly the best. Your child will love it!

I had a long hiatus from training when I moved back to NJ. I couldn’t find the right place to train as there was always an issue with the environment, training culture or egos running rampant. Once I walked into Bayshore and met Professor Joe I knew it was the right place. Super clean and knowledgeable instruction for all levels of students. I moved to the area a few months ago and struggled to find a gym that had the level of coaching and technique I needed as a purple belt. I've been training for around 6 years and came from the city where I was extremely spoiled with world-class athletes being my every day coaches. I definitely look for very sharp coaching and techniques being taught that have staying power past white belt. I've been so impressed with Coach Joe and his team here. Not only is the coaching clear, consistent and REAL jiu jitsu, this is such a welcoming and clean environment. Hands down the cleanest, best maintained gym I have ever trained at. I am also a mom and struggle to get enough time on the mats this this stage - there are so many other parents here and it is such a welcoming environment for families. Without that support I honestly just could not train, being able to have my child with me occasionally and be able to come to a family jiu jitsu class has meant the absolute world to me.

I have been practicing Jiu-Jitsu for several years, and hands-down, Coach Joe and his team have created the most family-friendly environment I've ever had the pleasure of training in. He was so great teaching my 5-year old with patience and encouragement, and she quickly added two new moves to her repertoire! I've taken a few classes both gi and no-gi, and the great teaching of course carries over to us adults too. I gave the highest recommendation to my work buddy, and now his family has been training there happily for several months. Another coworker might move to the Hazlet area, and of course I told him there is no better place to continue his training. No shortage of friendly and talented students and training partners here either. Will be back soon!!

Best family members that you never knew you had. No egos just a room full of like-minded people all trying to better themselves while looking out for others and helping them along the way. I got the chance to visit this club and was extremely impressed. The facility is clean, they have a nice space to leave your bags, and the staff was extremely helpful. The head coach was very welcoming and friendly he introduced me to other student and I quickly got brought into the family. I met some really great people there and 100% plan on visiting every chance I get. I recently started training at Bayshore Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and am so glad I started. I feel like I am a pretty slow learner but that hasn't been an issue. The teachers take the time to break down the techniques until you get it. On top of that the other more experienced students take the time to help you too. It is a very welcoming and friendly place. The hardest part was taking that first step and signing up for a trial. Once you do you will be mad at yourself for waiting so long.

Bayshore has exceed every expectation my husband and I had. It is very clean, very welcoming and have become family to us. This place has helped build my 12 year old daughter’s confidence and helped her focus better in school. Everyone is willing to help each other out and root them on to make them better. All the coaches are beyond friendly and always there to help you out. They go above and beyond to make this place a great experience for a child, teen or adult. We are so glad we choose Bayshore BJJ. We have gone to other schools and not one compares to them. We have even had my daughter’s birthday party there which consist of learning some basic Jui Jitsu and nerf wars. My son has been attending the kids/adult classes for 9 months and I can’t express how amazing this team is! All the coaches and staff are so welcoming and truly care about your child’s development as an overall human being. Not to mention all the adults who also take classes, they have taken my son under their wing and helped him to achieve his goals at becoming stronger in his jutjitsu techniques. One of the best schools to train at. All of the people that train here are willing to help you. Everyone wants you to get better. The minute you walk into the door you feel apart of the family. As a female training in this sport that is mostly male. Every single one of them make you feel welcomed and want to help you succeed your goals. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

What an amazing experience! Everyone was welcoming and created a great environment for rolling! The mats were nice, clean and very spacious! I'm definitely going to come back. If you're on the border of trying out BJJ or not, do it! This was an awesome environment to be in!

Just had my daughter's birthday party at Bayshore Jiu Jitsu. Joe and his team are incredibly they take care of everything. The nerf battle was awesome, the kids had a great time would 100 percent recommend having your next party with Joe at bayshore bjj.

We had my sons 9 year old birthday party at BJJ it was the best party we have had in years. The kids had a blast the hosts were engaged and had the kids under control.. so many extra’s. It was great… the best part for me was it was a one stop shop from invites to goody bags! I would recommend anyone to book a party !

Bayshore BJJ is awesome. What an amazing culture at the school. A lot of really great people being very supportive and helpful. I’ve had a long jiu jitsu journey, Bayshore really feels like home. The instruction is truly second to none. The coaches seek out the best instruction on the planet, study it, practice it then deconstruct it and deliver it to students in bit sized consumable pieces. My jiu jitsu gave has elevated so much since starting at Bayshore. I’ve also lost 50 pounds in 5 months.

Had the honor of training at Bayshore Bjj with a bunch of hungry, tough and aspiring individuals. Aside from bjj being an extraordinary intimidating art already, it was really refreshing to be welcomed with open arms especially as a female that trains in a completely different gym. One thing that stuck with me ASIDE FROM AWESOME STRUCTOR AND TOUGH ROLLS - was how squeaky clean and neat the place was, with accommodating restrooms for both male and females to have all they need.
