  The instructor at Valor Martial Arts is, without doubt, one of the best blokes I've had the privilege of meeting. He's a supportive and generous individual, who knows exactly how to push you and get the best out of you. He's been fantastic with my son too, adjusting things to suit his particular needs. After a quick google search, I dropped him a text one day asking a few questions, telling him I was really out of shape and unfit, and asking whether he had a class that would suit someone like me. He reassured me straight away and said, why not come down that night and try a class? If he hadn't made that explicit offer, I'd never have gone. But I took the chance, and I've been going back ever since. My fitness has improved no end. When I started a couple of years ago, I couldn't manage a single proper push up. These days I can bang out quite a few of them. My kickboxing form is back on track, I've been persuaded to start grading, and I genuinely enjoy exercise again for the first time in many years. It's a friendly gym with a good range of classes beyond kickboxing. The self defence classes in particular are fantastic, and I hope they continue to grow. If you're unsure whether to give Valor a try, just jump in. You won't regret it. They cater for everybody, from experienced martial artists and those wanting to fight competitively, right through to nervous beginners just after a good workout, and people like me who needed a bit of encouragement to get going. The classes are supportive and encouraging, and the atmosphere is great. Couldn't recommend it more.

  Can't recommend Valor martial arts enough, Matt is fantastic with his students and creates a very welcoming atmosphere. After trying many other places my son has finally found a place where he can thrive.

  My son absolutely loves attending Valor Martial Arts! From the very first class, he’s learnt so many valuable skills - not just in martial arts, but also in focus, confidence, and discipline. The energy and atmosphere are always so positive and motivating. Matt and the rest of the instructors are truly amazing with the children - patient, encouraging, and full of enthusiasm. They create such a welcoming environment where every child feels valued and supported. It’s wonderful to see my son so excited to go to his classes every week and to watch how much he has grown in ability and confidence.   An absolutely amazing martial arts school! My children have been attending for approx 18months and they LOVE it, they have learnt so many skills, techniques, strength and gained tonnes of confidence (along with making loads of lovely friends and having fun). Honestly the best sports club my children have ever been part of. Matt has the patience of a saint, so much knowledge and is so welcoming. #TeamValor

  My Granddaughter joined the kickboxing class about 8 months ago. She was very shy and lacked confidence. Over time she has blossomed and grown in confidence. I cannot praise Matt enough for the way he reacts with his students. I would definitely recommend trying the classes. The first two are free so you can see how you get on. 😁

  Really friendly, supportive & fun martial arts club, Mat takes the time to get to know each pupil & engage with them, building their confidence & skills. I have a child in each of the kids classes and after seeing how much they were enjoying it, decided to join up too. Despite feeling very nervous, the other members in the teen/ adult class are great & supportive, classes suit the different levels & are adapted as needed. It’s great to improve fitness, coordination, confidence and mental health.

  Since his previous MA school closed, we had been looking for somewhere closer to home for my son to continue his Martial Arts journey. We went to Valor’s open day and haven’t looked back. Matt is a great instructor, constantly developing and pushing his students each week. During class he tweaks his teaching style to get the best from each student. After classes he talks to both the student and parents about the class and what to work on. He is very approachable and communicable, explaining how he wants to develop and improve both Valor and his students. We look forward to continuing Joshua’s journey with Valor (and Matt).

  Where do I start, Matt is a brilliant instructor I can’t praise this guy enough. He is so good with the kids and adults. My daughter absolutely loves going each week even when it’s sparring which she absolutely hated until starting with valour. Matt has worked really hard both with students and parents to understand each students martial arts journey. He takes time before and after each lesson to discuss with the students how they all feel each session and what they need to work on which has helped my daughter immensely. She walks away each session more confident than the last and that’s all down to how Matt teaches and the time and effort he puts into his school and students. I highly recommend to any parent who’s child wants to start or even get back into martial arts.

  My son has been learning from Matt since he opened, every class our son looks forward to his class as Matt is constantly developing, pushing, guiding and explaining to him and the other students how to be better as a martial artist hence why my son always says can’t wait for the next lesson. Matt is also very approachable as an instructor and a great listener and amazing teacher and is constantly communicating to the parents how he improving Valor Martial Arts. We look forward to the journey and keep up the amazing work.
