I have nothing but positive things to say about, Thrive, & my child’s experience here. My child has a diagnosis of ADHD, Autism 1 (High Functioning Autism) with Sensory Processing Disorder. Which means my child’s brain is taking in around 40% more information than a regular person’s brain. But her nervous system is not as advanced or capable of taking in and processing all that information. She struggles with literally feeling her body. As well as spacial awareness (in other words she can’t tell where everything in the room is, in correlation to her body. This is actually a very terrifying thing to experience). She also struggles with fine & large motor skill challenges. As well as low muscle tone, as a result of these disorders. These factors have created many challenges for my daughter. When my child started Karate with, Mr. Hagman. I did not expect that in less than three months that these challenges would improve. That after 13 years of doing multiple therapies. I saw a larger leap in my child’s progress than Any of these previous therapies provided. My child has always been locked in a cage of sorts that no key was available. Karate to my surprise is that key. Karate seems to help to rewire her nervous system to better process incoming information. That in the past overloaded & overwhelmed her. It also helps her to slow down & think. She can do a list of things she literally couldn’t do prior to working with Mr. Hagman. Including feeling her body better. Telling where things are in the spaces around her. Her fine & large motor skills have improved! She even communicates better. She has slowed in a way no past medication has ever done. She is literally a different person. I can’t even list them all. I own that to, Mr. Hagman & his staff. Mr. Hagman, is an Amazing teacher. He is calm, patient, intelligent, eloquent, & makes individual connections on how to help his students be successful. He is funny & makes learning fun for the kids. He has an attitude of inclusion for special needs kids. Which I don’t experience in many places. Most places do not want my child around their “normal” children. Mr. Hagman, has made my child feel welcome & accepted. He has classes that are specifically for special needs students. You can tell that the special needs community has a special place in his center. I could have taken my daughter to any place. But after watching her progress in just three months. Watching how well Mr. Hagman & his other teacher work with my child. I realize she would not of had success anywhere else. If your child is a special needs child, this is the place to bring your children! They are also covered by CTLS. My child’s progress in such a short time is nothing short of amazing. I could never with my words do justice to express how amazing, Mr. Hagman is. For providing the key that is unlocking the cage that has held my child for years. Thank you, I am so grateful for your center 🙏
Posted 8 months agoBoth of our kids absolutely love it here. Mr. Horn is amazing with all the students. I love his approach and how he explains things to them. You can tell he genuinely loves teaching.
Thrive is the perfect name for this place. They are doing a great job
We love this place!! Classes are fun, innovative, and keep my child engaged. They teach so much more than martial arts (responsibility, and respect, etc.). Teachers are excellent and some schedules are very flexible within different ability levels. Mr. Hagman, the owner, really understands how to motivate and work within the students' abilities (from the 3 years to adult, and those with special needs) . I really like how they challenge the students to refine their techniques. There's even a Master's club to keep kids on track to earn their black belts. You should check this place out.
Posted 2 years agoMy daughter, 7 at the time was in the summer camp for the whole summer because I worked. Not one complaint in the morning or when I picked her up. Other summer camps always complained and did not want to go. She loved going to this summer camp. Zach and Olivia and the other instructors are all incredible kind, passionate, knowledgeable and helpful. They did an array of activities with the kids, crafts indoors and sports outdoors. I highly recommend.
Thrive Martial Arts is a great studio! Coach Zach does an amazing job and cares about the improvement and growth of each student. It's a great place for kids to learn discipline, respect, and build self-confidence.
We came to teakwando in searching of an activity to help our son build steem, confidence, respect, discipline and active l listening, I can honestly say that this is hands down the best think I have ever invested in for my son. He is more confident, happier and doing better and school. It also have the best instructor Mrs. horn .He keeps it light and fun while the kids learn then self control discipline and respect.
South Bend IN, Sep 30. It was a great tournament day for my girls, they really love their Tae Kwon Do classes and at the tournaments they see how much they have advanced and learned
Mr. Hagman (owner), Ms. Snow, and Mrs. Buettner are so good with children. It was demonstrably clear on my 8-year-old daughter's 1st day that she was learning about self-control, respect, self-discipline, focus, strength, and confidence. Not sure she paid attention to these benefits because she was having so much FUN. My daughter's only complaints were that 1) the class isn't longer, and 2) the class isn't every day-- 365 days/year. She practiced her moves before bed and again when she got up this morning. Excellent quality, pricing, and a spacious, CLEAN facility. I highly recommend it.
Posted 2 years agoMr. Horn is an excelente instructor. He always motivated the kids. We highly recommend his studio.
My 7 year old has been coming here since last summer. Coach Zach and his team are so professional and knowledgeable and they truly care about the improvement of each student. My son has improved so much in self discipline and his ability to listen and follow instructions. If you are looking for a great studio Thrive should be it!
We have been taking my son to this studio for over a year now and it has been such a great experience. All the instructors have been amazing. Zack has made sure my child reaches all his goals and has given him the confidence to succeed in things he didn’t think he could.
Was looking for a place to get involved in martial arts, but culture was key. I've been going about 2 months now, and have nothing but great things to say. The instructors are fantastic, the students are supportive to new people like me, as well as their peers. Everyone cares about a learning environment. The class sizes for adult classes are smaller compared to some other schools I've seen, so you get lots of personal attention and hands on instruction, which is great. They also get you right into forms, weapons, and sparring, which is also really nice to get the full experience and start learning right away. Really great place, really happy I found them.
Zach is an amazing instructor! My son has been going to his studio for about a year and a half and he is THRIVING. Zach goes above and beyond for the kids. He has such a hands on approach. He is so kind while at the same time teaching the kids about respect and discipline. We have tried other studios in the past but nothing compares. My son is always excited to go to class and has grown so much since we signed him up. If you're looking for a studio that cares and will be invested in your child, this is the place!!!
My 2 children transferred in from another studio and are both very happy here. Watching them work towards their next belts is such an amazing accomplishment. Mr. Horn is an amazing instructor and has a great work ethic here in the studio. I have also joined and enjoy taking classes with my children.
My daughter has always been interested in learning some form of martial arts. We recently saw photos on social media of graduations at Thrive Martial Arts. I chose to contact Mr. Hagman and my daughter was invited in for a trial period. Each class makes her more and more excited to keep going back! Her instructors make us laugh, support the students in their learning and also require discipline and focus of them during sessions. I simply cannot be more excited that we found Thrive Martial Arts and can’t wait to watch my daughter grow in skill and THRIVE in life!
Posted 4 years agoMr. Hagman and the other instructors have great experience and knowledge of martial arts. My son can be energetic and sometimes exasperating, but Mr. Hagman has always been patient, firm and guiding with him. Mr. Hagman does a great job engaging with the children, making them laugh and have fun but all while remaining focused on the lessons to be learned. I am thankful that we found this opportunity.
Posted 4 years agoGreat place for your kids to start learning martial arts. Mr. Horn is the best! And Ms. Bradley is awesome!
Wonderful and patient teachers. My 4 year old improves every week.
Best place! I've been searching for a great place for our kids and tried a few in our area. No success until our family met Mr. Horn and the staff there. Very balanced yet teaches kids about discipline and techniques in the best way parents can wish for. It's a 20 min drive for us but def worth the travel. We choose to continue at ATA although there are several martial art classes within 5-10 min drive in our area. Hope this is convincing enough! Can't wait for our kids to learn and progress more. Thank you Mr. Horn!
What a perfect way to end a day full of school and work. Not only fun and challenging but a great way to stay in shape. Set goals not limits!!
Excellent instruction, individual attention. Friendly atmosphere
