I have been training at the Toukon Academy for 7 months and I can’t rate it highly enough. The classes are well structured, the instructors are knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is great. I am 43 and I train with people 20 years older and 30 years younger than me, everyone is friendly, welcoming and genuinely interested in making each other better. An amazing place to learn and progress!
I joined with my boys at 51 having played lots of sports at a high level in my younger years. I cannot explain how much I’m enjoying being humbled and being an absolute beginner. That’s said the classes are welcoming and paced in a way it’s easy to keep up. I am so glad I took the first step. Has it hurt - yes I’ve had some niggles but whenever I’ve done something I’m desperate to back I so the upsides are worth the little niggles, and what I do know is once my body has conditioned to doing it the niggles will stop. Great for the body and as you get older great for the mind to learn something technically challenging 5 🌟

I’ve trained with Gary and been coached by him in the over-40s group, and he’s genuinely one of the best instructors I’ve met. His passion for BJJ is clear, and he creates a welcoming, positive atmosphere for everyone. Gary’s teaching is technical, patient, and motivating. With his new academy opening in Huntington, anyone looking to start or return to BJJ should definitely check it out. Highly recommended!
