My girls absolutely loved their time taking classes at the fight system. Emily was their instructor, she was extremely patient and inviting for all the kids. I greatly appreciate the time she takes with each kid to make sure they understand the moves, skills, and teamwork needed to be successful.
Posted 5 months agoI’ve been training No-gi bjj here for just over 6 months and I wish I had started years ago. This gym has a great community. Coach Justin’s knowledge and love of teaching combine into a program where you can see real progress being made each week, for students of all levels. Wish I didn’t have to leave so soon.
Posted 5 months agoEmily is an incredible jiu jitsu instructor. Emerson absolutely loved her class. She is gentle, calm, and exceptionally kind with the kids, creating a positive and supportive environment that made him feel confident and excited to participate. We are so grateful for the experience and highly recommend her.
Posted 7 months agoExtremely friendly staff with coaches who actually want to see you improve. Very qualified coaches as well that do a great job explaining any questions you may have. Absolutely love this gym and found my love for boxing here. 10/10 would recommend.
Posted 11 months agoFirst time there - within 20 minutes I was cracking jokes with people I’d only just met as if it were my home gym! Fantastic atmosphere, My experience with both Emily and Coach Josh were super welcoming. I’ll definitely be there again. If you’re looking to find a good gym with actual individual involvement and development, this is the place for you. Again, thank you to the team for being so hospitable and kind!
Posted 11 months agoSome of the nicest folks you’ll ever meet teach and go to this gym. Nate, Josh, Emily, Justin just to name a few have been so helpful for me, and are also very knowledgeable. If you on the fence about joining, just do it.
It has one of the best coaches that have a lot of experience like Joshua who is a 2x national champion. Moreover they use effective and engaging ways to train their fighters
One of the best MMA gyms in the area. The staff/coaches are all top notch and are super knowledgeable of their craft. All of the coaches really care about their students and work to make sure that their classes are up to date and are presented in a way that students can understand and apply.
I'm one of those desk bound CS Major guy that doesn't really exercise, but going here is so much fun that I'm starting to exercise on my own. Very polite, welcoming staff that knows their stuff, good facility. It's relatively small so the coaches pay more attention to individuals. The pricing is good too.
My 10-year -old has been training with The Fighting System for a few months now, and he couldn’t be happier. The whole time he’s on the mat he just has the biggest smile on his face. We’ve done all the typical sports and by far this is his favorite! All the coaches are always making sure the kids understand how to properly/safely practice moves and really value the time spent on the mat; which I really appreciate. There’s a lot of structure in the class and the kids really work hard. It’s impressive! So happy I made the decision to enroll my kiddo!
Whether your goals are fitness or self defense, this is an excellent place to train. The coaches are knowledgeable and friendly. Perfect for the whole family to train, as they have classes for all ages and skill levels. They also provide access to video series relevant to the current lessons so you can continue to expand your martial arts knowledge at home. All three of my kids look forward to attending every week. They offer a free trial to test run the classes and see if they're a good fit for you. They do striking and grappling at all levels.
The coaches are extremely understanding and helpful. Their commitment to helping everyone access their gym is commendable and so appreciated!
Best place I ever cross trained while I was visiting Corvallis. Great coach, awesome atmosphere and excellent training partners. I will definitely be coming back if I am ever back in town. Best, Kevin (aka Big Guy)
Trained here for about a month before an injury stopped me (not the gym’s fault) and moved away before I was healed and could get back into it, but I learned so much in that short amount of time. Coach Justin and his team are very knowledgeable and seem to genuinely enjoy teaching, and everyone was really supportive of each other regardless of skill level/experience. I can only hope to be lucky enough to find another gym with such good vibes and great quality and style of instruction. Highly recommend checking them out if you’re in the area!
Coming in as a complete beginner, this was a very welcoming gym. Was able to learn a lot and had a great time.
Real quick about me…I'm a 41 year old male…started Jiu Jitsu about 4 years ago. I travel for work which takes me to a lot of different gyms. IPFS is family run…and this gym provides an experience that I have yet to see at other places. I Loved it. The gym walls are decorated with flow charts, graphs, medals, anatomy diagrams…and Justin and Emily have a team page on the Band App for members to interact, ask questions, and post fighting content. Easily the biggest strides I have made were at this gym where Coach helped me so much to kill some bad habits and focus on concepts that work in MMA and reality vs the more safer confines of sport Jiu Jitsu. I'm grateful to have gone to IPFS and I'm going to miss it.
Incredible fight gym. Systematic, smart training that gets the blood pumping, as well as an incredibly nice and supportive atmosphere. Loved my time training here!
My son has been taking classes here for about six months. Such an a great atmosphere for kids to learn., build confidence and grow. The coaches are amazing and attentive. The gym is clean and well maintained. I feel safe dropping my kid off for class and he always is excited to go! Emily and Justin are a wonderful team and we are blessed to be apart of this community.
Best BJJ/MMA team and coach in the area. If you want to train to be a better grappler/fighter, this is it. No frills, no bullshido, no time wasting; just great people and a solid gym.
I loved going here! I knew Justin back when he taught at a different gym and I was stoked to hear he started his own. Justin and his wife Emily are really trying to grow the business and it shows. A bunch of thought was put into the facilities and instruction. Justin knew I was only here for the summer and still treated me like part of the team. Give me a few more months here and I would feel comfortable talking an amateur bout. I would highly recommend to anybody
Coach Justin and Coach Emily are really amazing at teach kids and adults the art of fighting and recovery. If you are around Philomath, you would be missing out by not going here!
I was awarded a blue belt from a well-regarded BJJ school in my home state before attending IPFS, and I can say in truth that I learned more from Justin's white belt stripe one fundamentals curriculum than I learned during the entire year of training that had led up to my blue belt. His system of advancement from lower level to higher level movements and counters is the most elegant, intuitive, creative, and effective I have ever had the pleasure to engage in. There is not a session that goes by at IPFS (striking included) that doesn't open my mind to another strategy, tactic, or concept that I am able to blend into my technical and conceptual repertoire. Here, my ability to fight has turned into one seamless gameplan.
Justin and the fight club in Philomath comes through with great instruction, communication and an inclusive community building environment
