This is a very nice place to take your kids to learn jiu jitsu. The staff is really courteous and genuine with the kids. Parents can watch in the waiting room behind some glass and it has a very familial feel. You can feel a sense of community there. If your kids are looking for some exercise and to learn a valuable skill you should give these guys a try.

I personally enjoy striking, but I’ve mainly focused on Jiu-Jitsu (though I’ve also attended striking sessions). For Jiu-Jitsu, I primarily attended the morning classes, where everyone was passionate and taught high-level techniques. They were always kind and welcoming. (The afternoon classes are great too!) Highly recommend!

I’m not able to train here but this place rocks. Late 30s and have some martial arts background, so I took a stab at BJJ, boxing, and Muay Thai (Striking). I have about 60% paralysis on one side and can’t train here yet, but you should try this place out. If you’re thinking about it, do it! Great managers and owners. Hoping to do some physical therapy/private lessons and return here to train, because the community is awesome. Do it!

TBJJA is filled with friendly competitors -- they have been good to me while I was in town visiting my brother and his family -- they let me train with them while preparing for a tournament -- they gave good advice and had great drills and I did well in my tournament -- I appreciate their hospitality, competitiveness and friendliness -- they have top competitors at all belt levels and many of them compete and win in tournaments but best of all they are kind and friendly. My brother and nephew go to this gym regularly and they love it and they have both improved so much, they both competed and did well in tournaments -- its always a fun but competitive atmosphere here and I love visiting. Many thanks to the TBJJA community, I'd recommend anyone to train there.

TBJJA is a place for the whole family, couple, or individual who is looking for an activity that will better themselves both physically and mentally. My family has been going since 2018 and we could not recommend this place more. The Casias's are great owners and people. My kids have built confidence, my wife and I have made great friends and we all have grown as individuals. With multiple class options there is something for the whole family.

Great experience, had the pleasure to train here on my vacation. Was a very nice welcoming gym, good technique taught, the positional sparring was great, positive attitudes and care from all the training partners, well structured inviting place. Would definitely make this my home gym were I to move here in the future.

I trained their for several years until I blew out my back. Ray Casias is the best and most compassionate coach I've ever had. He is a leader and a good man. He teaches discipline and how to address real life situations. To this day and almost every day it's depressing that I cannot train at the level I did as I had plans, but I wouldn't take back those years for anything. Coach Ray 's training style and leadership is superior to most of not all gyms in the area including Gracie gyms. I hope if u read this and are thinking about BJJ, please try out TBJJ. You will not be disappointed at any level.

Tennessee BJJ Academy is amazing! I’ve been in and out of martial arts for 25 years and the experience here is second to none. The coaches and students are welcoming. The training is first class and safe. The facility is clean and huge. And so many black belts! I’ve been to multiple gyms where even the main instructor is not a black belt and here your every day lunch class will have three! Such an honor to roll with people with so much experience and humility.

There are few true martial arts schools. I've seen many whose instructors are... Less than stellar, let's say. Not the case here. Best school I've seen in 30+ years of practice all across the states. I've seen one other as good, in Hawaii many years ago. You'll get knowledgeable instructors great coaches and true knowledge. Plus one of the best atmospheres I've ever seen. Can't be beat.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take Professor Ray Casias’s Beginner Knife Course today. An eye opening and instructional experience with a teacher that knows the science and the art behind his combatives program. Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning the requirements for true self defense. Professor Casias’s formidable level of knowledge and real world experience are incredibly thorough and his presentation of the material is in depth, and easy to understand. What an awesome way to spend a day.

I had the good fortune of training at TNBJJ for a week while housesitting for a friend of mine in Spring Hill. I am extremely pleased with the experience and pray I have the opportunity to return and train here more. On two occasions, 10+ legit black belts were present for the evening BJJ class. The instruction was clear and easily translatable to practical application. The culture is extremely friendly and inviting, while not compromising quality. The facilities are top notch and even host a children's play room so that parent's can train while their little ones are entertained. If you are interested in training in MMA, either for competition or for personal defense, I highly recommend that you look their list of instructors and give this place a try. They are so confident in their instruction and programs that they will give you a month free trial!!! I've never heard of another gym or dojo that allows that. Most places will provide you one free trial, maybe a week, and then require a membership. Coach Casias knows how legit his school is, knows you'll like it (if you're serious about training) and has no problem giving you an option to try several classes before committing. He also doesn't charge a drop in fee for classes. From my perspective, simply put, he wants to produce proficient fighters and is dedicated to providing the best environment to do so. Another thing that impressed me is the class schedule they offer, which includes morning, lunch, and evening classes. I attended one, two, or three classes a day while I was in town, spanning morning, lunch, and evening, and was impressed with the number of students who show up to these classes, regardless of time. And the instruction was consistent across all of them. Wanna train? Give this place a shot. You won't be disappointed.

I have been training BJJ for 6+ years and am a purple belt. I travel all over the US for work and am fortunate enough to train while on the road. During my time I have trained at more than 50 gyms across the US from the east coast to the west. One of the easiest ways tell how good a gym is, is by the loyalty of its members (how many upper belts there are). Many places I go to I am one of the top belts. Here, when class is full, I am lucky if I am 1/2 down the line. The number of black belts, brown etc that we have on the mats is a clear indication of the loyalty folks have to this facility. It does not matter where you train or who you train under, you are always welcome. There is a reason my son and I call this place home as well as so many others and that is due to the culture and family environment that Professor Ray and Rachel have created. Professor Alex, Keefe and Harold are awesome and have taught me so much. I am truly grateful for this gym. Whether starting out or experienced....this is the place....this is the family.....this is the facility for you!

From the time you first meet Ray or Rachel from TBJJA you can tell they are incredible ambassadors for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and it’s community. Go to one open mat and you’ll see what I mean. There are students from schools all over the area! All are made welcome. Beyond the great culture they’ve established, they and the TBJJA coaches provide top tier instruction. Whether you are a senior ranked practitioner or just getting started they have something for you! And ladies, you will not find a better program geared toward shaping your Jiu Jitsu and you overall. Phenomenal gym! People go to their first class and are hooked! They sign up on the spot. The number one complaint I hear from people that have to move away from Spring Hill is that they never realized how fortunate they were when they were at our gym. We consistently have at least ten quality black belts on the mat during all the prime classes, at all times. When you are shopping for a gym remember to base your selection on the quality of instruction and the skill level/experience of the instructors vs. the gyms that just bark about their lineage or how great they are or what number they are in a basic google search. Quality BJJ academies let their classes do the proverbial sales pitch for them.

They say Disneyland is the greatest place on earth -- I would beg to differ. I would say that Coach Ray and Coach Rachel's gym could give Mickey a run for his money any day! All jokes aside, this truly is my favorite place to be on the entire planet. My wife, three boys, and I have all made lifelong friends here. Whether you need to get pushed hard, or a supportive shoulder to lean on you'll get it at TBJJA. The kid's program is action packed, fun, and also produces some of the top youth competitors in the state. But there's zero intimidation factor. My three year old goes and the smile never comes off of his face. There's cardio classes, MMA, Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai and, of course, Gi and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu all under one roof. If you're considering checking out a gym for yourself or your family, do yourself a favor and go check this place out. You'll be happy that you did. Best place in middle Tennessee to learn martial arts, hands down. Both Ray and Rachel lead by example, creating an environment and culture that is welcoming and inclusive. In the short time I've been part of the family of TBJJA, I've learned so much; not only about the art, but about myself. So glad I made this place my second home.

Went to a Striking class here a while back, my first one ever. Should've left immediately after seeing that both of the instructors were overweight (note to those reading: this is a big red flag at any academy). But I stayed because it was a bit of a drive just to get there. I am in good shape but obviously I'm not going to know any technique during my first class. Despite this, the instructor thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to have me sparring. The instructor I worked with took advantage of this (I assume because usually he has to deal with a weight/age disadvantage) to grab me and jab as if it was an actual match. Massive red flag. I never went back. Judging by the other reviews here, this might be exclusive to just the Striking class; the BJJ classes could actually be quite good. I would just recommend anyone who's interested in just Striking to avoid attending the class here at all costs.
