Southside Jiujitsu run by Solomon Dixon is an amazing Academy with a well-thought-out curriculum and a super clean environment. If you have the chance to go and you’re in the Chicagoland area, I highly advise it!
Great Jiu-Jitsu club with a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The coach is knowledgeable and gives clear, detailed instruction. The seminar was well-organized and very helpful for improving techniques. Highly recommend!
Had an amazing experience at Southside Jiu-Jitsu! The facility is clean, organized, and bright, with spotless bathrooms and showers—a detail that makes a huge difference. The training area is top-notch, featuring quality mats and an incredible spring floor, making takedowns much smoother and safer. The location is also great, with plenty of parking and within walking distance of several restaurants and a fantastic coffee shop, Robust Coffee, just a couple of blocks east. Big shoutout to Solomon Dixon for being such a welcoming and friendly host. His hospitality made the experience even better. Looking forward to visiting again! Highly recommend checking out Southside Jiu-Jitsu if you’re ever in the area! Paul Boyajian
Greatest coach I’ve ever trained with, in 2 weeks he taught me how to be a champion in life and on the mats! Bring your whole family here.
We attended a JFlo seminar here and on top of the world class teaching, the gym atmosphere is so welcoming. It’s super clean, nice showers, cool vibe. 110% recommend for jiu jitsu in the area.
Great gym with a great community. Appreciate them for letting us come out from Colorado
Fantastic gym, super clean, super nice people. I dropped in while I was visiting town. They were super welcoming. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.
Just completed my six-week challenge, and I lost 20 lbs. More importantly, I got back on the mat for the first time since before Covid after being away from the mat for many years. Because of the atmosphere, I overcame the challenge of tying on a white belt again. This family is top-notch! I found my joy again!
Awesome community and space! A great way to learn your body and your capabilities!
Awesome gym! Very welcoming people and it’s very packed gym!
Southside Jiu-Jitsu Club offers a welcoming atmosphere with knowledgeable and supportive coaches. The team environment is inclusive and encouraging, making it a great place for both beginners and experienced practitioners. Highly recommended for anyone looking to improve in a positive space!
I have known Solo for almost 2 years. He was my first fundamentals instructor at another club before he founded Southside Jiu Jitsu Club. He is a huge reason I am still training today. The location in Woodlawn is excellent and easily accessible by public transportation. It's a 1 minute walk to the Cottage Grove stop for the CTA Green Line. You can also get here with a 63 bus, which drops you off and picks you up at the 63rd & Drexel stop right in front of the building. The building is brand new, the entire facility is kept very clean, and the mat space is large for all of the offered classes. The mats here are built with a FUJI spring floor system, which I liked a lot. Absorbing the impact of certain techniques, such as taking a hip toss, is much easier and safer. Solo's commitment to safety for everybody, especially beginners, is also crucial. Every lesson he gives teaches you how to safely deal with each technique, such as how to slap the floor to absorb impact, keep your chin tucked so you don't hit your head, and more. Throughout my Jiu-Jitsu journey, I have individually worked with Solo's team of instructors, such as Coach Joe, Coach Lawrence, and Coach Darrin. All of them have positively contributed to my desire to keep training, keep getting better, and never quit. I don't think there are enough words I can use to fairly describe Solo as a wonderful Jiu-Jitsu instructor and human being. No matter which class he's teaching, you can hear and feel the passion he has for this martial art. As a result, you'll see his desire to see everyone get better at BJJ as well as share the same passion. He is a tremendous listener. He is excellent at reading people, such as knowing when to push you to your limit while sparring. I am impressed with the terrific community of white belts Solo has here, eager to learn and enjoy the process. The higher belts (blue, purple, brown, and black) are all well-disciplined and encouraging as well. This place is an absolute gem to the south side of Chicago.
I’ve trained with Prof. Solo several times, at their former space in Hyde Park and at their current location in Woodlawn. Everyone is friendly, from the white belts to the black belts, and all the students are serious about learning and working hard. The place is clean, inviting, and upbeat. The teaching is practical and clear. I’ve been to several BJJ schools around Chicago and it’s obvious to anyone visiting SJJC that Prof. Solo has developed a special culture and community. He’s a great teacher and killer athlete who cares about his craft, his students, the South side, and the city. The same should be said about the others who’ve been with him for a long time. Most importantly, Prof. Solo is someone you can trust and follow. If you train with him you’ll learn high-level BJJ, get in great shape, join a strong team, and be a healthier person. Make sure to check out this academy and follow the good things they’re doing!
Welcoming, friendly spot. Look forward to calling it home!
The club is welcoming, clean and has phenomenal coaches. Coach Solo (owner) goes out of his way to make sure everyone feels welcome and that they belong. The community is great and I’m very thankful to be part of it.
Professor Solo is a gifted jiu-jitsu athlete, passionate instructor, and all around quality human being that I have known for a decade. As a fellow black belt and instructor as well as a lifetime practitioner of various martial arts traditions, this is the place I would choose to train on the south side. If you're looking for a great place to start or develop your jiu-jitsu journey, you won't be disappointed. The facility, the people, and the experience at South Side JJ Club are hard to beat.
Extremely knowledgeable and fully capable if you are interested in learning Jiu Jitsu. Top notch Instructors and a great community overall!!!
I have learned a lot from Solomon and the other great instructors. It’s a family environment. The instructors focus more on making sure you understand the basic techniques
If you want to learn self defense and how to protect yourself this is the place to go, on the south side of Chicago. Not far from U of C as a reference point in location. The instructors are brilliant
I trained at this gym for 10 days while visiting family. I went to every kind of class they offered (except no gi and kids). The school is young so there are a lot of white belts. They have a stated position/move that they are working on and all the instructors are teaching that position, each one with their own flavor. I am a mature blue belt and learned details of positions I have been doing for years that make them more efficient. The students are friendly, the gym is clean, they just moved into the pace so it still partially under construction, they have a sprung floor which is amazing. If you are on the south side and want to learn BJJ I would check out this academy.
The instructors at Southside Jiu Jitsu Club are incredibly knowledgeable and patient. They break down techniques clearly and concisely, making it easy for students of all levels to learn and improve. The gym itself has a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, where everyone is encouraged to train hard and have fun. I highly recommend Southside Jiu-Jitsu Club to anyone interested in learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Great trainers with the kids. My 5 year old started there with no knowledge of martial arts and had been having a blast!
I’ve been training BJJ for roughly 5 years now and this gym is one of the best around! Classes every day, a lot of upper belts to learn from, and good training partners that want to learn. They don’t shy away from standup, self-defense, or competition. 10/10 gym and the absolute best option on the Southside!
I had a great experience at Southside Jiu jitsu . The instructors are knowledgeable and welcoming, creating a friendly atmosphere. The facility is clean and well-equipped, and there are classes for all skill levels. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!
Heard about this club by word of mouth and then again from an ad so I decided to check it out and I’m glad I did. The teachings are great but the community is very welcoming and warm. The instructors are attentive and knowledgeable. They instill a feeling of safety and confidence both on and off the mats. I have talked to several of my classmates and there is a general consensus among us that the mental and spiritual benefits are undeniable and abundant. I’d recommend this place to anyone seeking community and guidance with the added benefit of learning self-defense through a lifelong hobby.
Great coach, great training partners, great vibes
Southside Jiu Jitsu Club has been an excellent choice for my daughter. The instructors, especially Coach Solomon, are patient and skilled, making it a great place to start for beginners. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive, and the facility is always clean and well-organized. She truly cannot stop talking about it and all the friends she’s made. Highly recommend for anyone looking to learn jiu-jitsu!
I’ve been a part of the club for 8 months now and have thoroughly enjoyed it! Solo is a great instructor and has cultivated a friendly atmosphere that also challenges us to get better everyday. Additionally, there are multiple instructors that allow you to learn different styles as you go. If you’re on the fence about trying it out, I highly recommend you start here!
My four year old loves SJJC! He looks forward to his ninja training (haha) every week. The environment is very welcoming and kid-friendly while also teaching fundamental skills. I can see how his confidence has grown since starting classes a few months ago. He often practices skills he’s learned in class at home without me prompting him. I look forward to how he will continue to grow overtime.
My son loves his jiu jitsu classes here. Solomon, as well as the other coaches, are amazing!
This is a perfect space for all levels. A jewel in Bronzeville and growing fast! Offers many levels of instruction and all instructors are very knowledgeable. Family friendly environment
Coach Solomon is an amazing coach and provides and equally amazing space. He has a team of experienced coaches that will take all of their knowledge and pour it into you. The organization work with your schedule and find the best fit for you. My nephews love his youth classes!
If you find yourself curious about BJJ/grappling you will be in exceptional hands with Southside Jiu Jitsu. Don't hesitate to set up an introductory class. 🔥
Having trained across other JJ academies and club in the past, I can safely say that SSJJC is doing something very unique. 5/5 - if you ever though about doing grappling/BJJ, just drop by, this community is awesome
It was an amazing introductory experience to the art of jiu jitsu at SSJ. Coach Solo is welcoming, patient and encouraging.
This place is more than just a jiu jitsu club; it's a community of people who care, coaches who support your journey, and a place where safety is taken seriously in and outside of the club. You will do drills, learn BJJ techniques, and get some self defense tips. I signed up because I wanted to build a stronger body and mind. I knew people who had been training for years and told me how much BJJ helped them so when I heard about Southside Jiu Jitsu, I had to give it a try. It was very slow going and a struggle for me in the beginning, it's a very different mindset than what I was used to when it came to learning new skills. After 6 months, I can easily say that my mind is more focused, I eat better, and my body is getting stronger. See you there!
Really positive energy overall, especially from the head coach. Can't wait to see how this club will grow in the near future!
Solomon and the team are very knowledgeable, professional, and skilled in Jiu Jitsu! I definitely recommend this program.
SSJJC is truly an amazing club with amazing instructors. No matter your level, you never feel left out or overwhelmed. Coach Solo is dedicated to his craft and brings out the best in each and every individual who steps on the mat.
My daughters love it- from the warm up exercises, games, and breakdown of skills. Good times, excellent place.
Joining Southside Jiu Jitsu Club has been a completely transformative experience and training BJJ is simultaneously one of the most rewarding and challenging physical endeavors of my entire life. Coach Solomon and all of the instructors (professors) are experts in their craft and push each student to excel to the highest level of their capabilities. The environment is incredibly welcoming for students at all levels and egos are checked at the door. If you are thinking about learning a martial art, don’t hesitate to try a sample class at Southside Jiu Jitsu Club, It’s life changing! Would leave 10 stars out of 5 if possible…
This is my son 2nd summer working with Coach Solo and we both love it. Solo is amazing whereas he teaches well with students of different diversities too. The atmosphere is very friendly. The other coaches are great as well. They even have a class for the adults.
I've been bringing my 8 year old son to Southside Jiu Jitsu for a few months now and the experience has been great. I was looking for a good outlet/activity for a very energetic and rambunctious boy. Joining Southside Jiu Jitsu was the right choice. Coach Solomon and the other instructors have been great with my son. He's always in a good mood after class and it's clear that he's getting good exercise and learning skills that will be beneficial in the future. I'm looking forward to seeing my son's continued growth at Southside
My twin boys, Aaden and Justin, love SouthSide Jiu Jitsu! The instructors are fantastic—really patient and passionate about teaching. The kids have improved so much in their jiu jitsu skills and have become more disciplined and focused. The classes are fun and keep the boys excited to learn. They’ve made great friends and feel like part of a supportive community. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and safety is always a priority. I highly recommend SouthSide Jiu Jitsu for any parent looking for a positive, engaging place for their kids to learn and grow. Thanks for everything, SouthSide Jiu Jitsu!
This club is a fantastic place for anyone on the Jiu Jitsu journey, whether beginner or advanced. Coach Solomon Dixon is not only a highly skilled practitioner of the sport, but remarkably gifted as a teacher and instructor. In his instruction he is able to convey the finer points of technique in a way that is easy to understand and implement. Moreover, he has built a community that nurtures mutual respect and is welcoming of newcomers. Highly recommended.
Solomon taught my friends and I the basics of self defense. The class was very informative and practical. He is a great instructor and teacher. I highly encourage you to sign up for the services at this club. The team is very invested in the overall well-being of their members and that means a lot!
I attended a private class this summer and it was so incredibly helpful and fun! The instructor, who is clearly passionate about the sport, taught us the purpose of jiu jitsu and walked us through several self-defense movements. Even after one class, I feel a lot more confident in my ability to defend myself when outside.
Great coaches, great members and great atmosphere!
My twin daughters are really enjoying training at Southside Jiu Jitsu Club! We love being able to come 3xs a week to be consistent. All of the coaches make learning BJJ fun and all the students are drawn in immediately. To add the cherry the Gi look awesome so they look cool in the process. We love it!
The South Side Ji Jitsu Club is a community for all. The instructors are patience and flexible with you in mastering skills. I really enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone and allowing myself to build amongst a dynamic group of people. We have some of the best instructors , which makes a complete difference in progressing throughout Ji Jitsu. Coach Solomon is truly dedicated in building better people, most organizations just care about collecting money; but not this one. I am so grateful to be apart of this community and to continue living a healthy lifestyle. If you want to start something new, or reach new fitness goals…. South Side Ji Jitsu is the place for you!!
My five year and I joined 2 months ago and are having a lot of fun. Coach Solo is very kind, warm, and great with kids. My daughter is a gentle person but enjoys the classes and doesn’t think it’s too rough. The adult classes are a good mix of exercise, sport, and self defense, without being over the top. There are a few teachers at the school and they are all great.
Awesome place to learn jiu jitsu. The community is kind, supportive and dedicated
From the coaching staff to every classmate, every aspect of this gym is welcoming, kind, growth-oriented, and encouraging. I have learned so much in the short time I’ve been here so far. This gym community is great for folks of all sizes, abilities, ages, and experience levels. So happy to be part of the club!
I visited for a Friday open mat and the gym was super welcoming. I was able to get some positional sparring in with high level instruction followed by open rounds and definitely plan on returning. Great vibes all around!
Solomon is a great Coach and teacher and has cultivated a gym with a very positive culture where everyone is very welcoming and supportive of each other’s growth and success in jiu jitsu and life in general.
I highly recommend South Side Jiu Jitsu, I’m a blue belt and I have trained in many gyms and clubs and I really liked this one, The team is very friendly and welcoming and coach Solomon has great knowledge and is always looking to improve himself and his team, don’t think about it just come I promise you won’t regret it.
I've been truly blown away by the community at Southside Jiu Jitsu. I was initially a bit nervous to train in BJJ because I wondered if my training partners would be too aggressive. On the contrary, every single person I have trained with at Southside has been very respectful, safe, friendly, and helpful. There is a really great sense of community and mutual growth. Coach Solo, the head instructor, is fantastic -- very knowledgeable, helpful, encouraging, and inclusive. He really makes each individual person feel like they matter and belong. I also want to shout out all the other instructors and upper belts, who have also been great. Southside Jiu Jitsu has far exceeded my expectations in all of these ways, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to train in BJJ.
Southside Jiu Jitsu Club is an absolute gem!!! I've been able to try a handful of clubs in the Chicago area over the last few years, and while the BJJ community is friendly in general, this has by far the best culture and most welcoming atmosphere. Coach Solo is a world class instructor and his dedication to building a sense of community where students can learn and grow is inspiring. This is a place where questions are earnestly encouraged, mutual respect is abundant, and both veteran members and first time students alike are treated as family. As a UChicago student living in the area, the convenience of finding a club in the Southside is wonderful and after only a few months as a member I know that even if I moved further away I wouldn't hesitate to drive across the city for this place. The classes are frequently the highlight of my day and I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to be a part of this group. Quite simply, Southside Jiu Jitsu Club is something special.
We've tried many sports, but this is the only place my first-grade son is excited about. He's committed to going twice a week on his own and willing to step out of his conert zone because of the wonderful coaches and a supportive environment. Highly recommended!
Can’t say enough positive things about South Side Jiu Jitsu Club and Coach Solomon Dixon, one of the best teachers communicators I’ve met in any context. The community and instructors create an environment that is both supportive and will push you.
I’ve had only a few classes here, but I can say for certain that this has been one of the best sports experiences I have had up to date. Incredibly beginner friendly and welcoming in general. I highly recommend this for anyone interested.
My daughter loves taking jiu jitsu classes here! This is a safe, supportive place where people at all levels are welcomed and celebrated as they grow in their skills.
Re: kids classes—Coach Solo has assembled a dedicated team that cares about the kids. It’s a warm, inviting space and my son loves it!
We love Southside Jiu Jitsu Club! Coach Solomon is excellent with the kids. My 6-year-old is excited for class every week and loves coming home to share their new skills.
Great experience! Really friendly community, clean environment, helpful coach, and fun classes! Coming to the gym gave me my first experience with Jiu Jitsu, and I've learned valuable skills about self defense and being present in my body during a fight. I really love it here, I've gotten a lot out of my experience, and I'm so glad I joined!
I highly recommend Southside Jiu Jitsu Club. As a white belt, I found Coach Solomon's teaching style very approachable. The environment is welcoming and less intimidating than other places I've visited. There's a strong sense of camaraderie among members. The techniques taught extend beyond fundamentals and are applicable to real-world situations. The facility is clean, and the staff is professional. I'm excited to continue training here.
Great coach, great people, and great sessions. Very beginner friendly with wide range of people, so if you are more on the experienced side, you can find people as well.
Great gym, great group of people and great coaching. It is an awesome educational and humble gym. Great range of people with different experience. All coaches are committed to sharing experience and knowledge.
A great gym on the Southside- Coach Solo teaches high level techniques and is a detail oriented instructor. The members are great teammates, & it’s a fun environment to learn self defense.
Really enjoy going here — nice community, really great instruction. I've learned more here in a few weeks than I have in about a year of BJJ at other clubs.
My experience as well as my kids experience has been nothing but amazing. Coach Solomon creates an exciting and meaning environment for the kids to thrive in.
Welcoming community of people looking to get in shape, learn self-defense, and become better BJJ practitioners. This culture is clearly cultivated from the top by Coach Solo, who goes above and beyond to make this a place of learning and fellowship. I can't recommend this place enough!
Coach Solomon is an amazing instructor who takes his time to make sure all students maximize their potential. I’m happy to be apart of the team
Highly recommend to anyone who is interested in learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! Very welcoming club, with a diverse group of students, and great instructors!
Solo is an amazing coach! The members here are friendly and helpful. Great environment where we all push each other to be better! Would highly recommend!
𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗝𝗶𝘂 𝗝𝗶𝘁𝘀𝘂 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯! I recently had the pleasure of joining Southside Jiu Jitsu Club for my first class, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Having searched for a community close to home that not only provides high-quality instruction but also fosters a positive and engaging learning atmosphere, I can confidently say that SJJ club exceeded my expectations. One of the standout aspects of Southside Jiu Jitsu Club is Coach Solomon, whose expertise and teaching style make training both enjoyable and informative. His user-friendly training format creates an equally challenging and dynamic environment that caters to both seasoned practitioners and new beginners. I was particularly impressed by the positive energy shown by more experienced students and their willingness to assist newcomers with learning techniques. This sense of camaraderie within the student body reflects the strong community spirit fostered by the club. All this combined with a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility enhances the overall experience. I highly recommend Southside Jiu Jitsu Club to anyone interested in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!
The vibe is amazing! Solo is a great coach!
Great gym. Great community. Coach Solomon is attentive to each and every student and takes the time to explain the details of the technique he’s teaching. The students are enthusiastic to learn and are encouraged to ask questions. If you’re looking to start your bjj journey, this a great place to do it.
I've been in the classes for about 2 months and it's a great place to train BJJ!
Love this space. Solo is one of a kind and gentleman who really prides himself in his craft which is Jiujitsu. He got me comfortable on the mats and now helping me get used to competing as well.
Coach Solo is an amazing teacher who creates such a supportive community. Classes are a great workout for all levels. Highly reccommend.
Southside is a great jiu jitsu club. Its a warm joyful community of people who are trying to improve themselves every session. Solo leads a great class and works to make everyone feel included and ensures that they’re learning.
I recently joined Southside Jiu Jitsu and it's been an incredible experience so far. The standout aspect for me has to be Coach Solomon. His depth of knowledge in Jiu Jitsu is truly remarkable. Not only does he possess a profound understanding of the techniques and principles of the martial art, but he also brings a unique teaching style that makes learning both effective and enjoyable. Coach Solomon pays attention to each student, ensuring that everyone, from beginners to more advanced practitioners, gets the guidance they need. His passion for Jiu Jitsu is infectious, and it's evident in the way he conducts his classes always with enthusiasm, patience, and a keen eye for detail. The gym itself has a welcoming atmosphere, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among the members. It's a great place for anyone looking to start or continue their Jiu Jitsu journey. In summary, if you're in the area and interested in learning Jiu Jitsu, I highly recommend Southside Jiu Jitsu. Coach Solomon's expertise and approach to coaching make it an exceptional place to train and grow in the art of Jiu Jitsu.
I feel lucky to have found such a lovely multilingual and multinational community of folks who want to learn and grow strong together. As a beginner to Jiujitsu this gym has made me feel well cared for and mentored in transforming myself physically, mentally, and socially. Honest rating 11/10
Took a class over the weekend and had a great time! Coach Solomon was able guide and provide help whenever I had questions as a novice. Great atmosphere in the gym overall!
Amazing coaching from Professor Solomon with a friendly and welcoming environment. I really enjoyed the class
Really enjoyed my visit. Coach Solo is an excellent instructor and made it a very welcoming environment to train. Would highly recommend stopping by.
Finally, a high quality jiu jitsu club on the Southside! This school is top notch from vibe to quality of lessons. Instructions are clear, engaging and coach Solo goes above and beyond to make sure every member feels welcome, and is progressing on their individual goals. While the club is new, the culture of the club is already one that's welcoming, fun, no-ego and about collaborative. Can't recommend this school enough!
Coach Solomon comes from a lineage of instructors that take seriously the art and responsibility of teaching, and creating an environment that is welcoming and supportive for every student. The people that train here want to help each other grow, and be better versions of themselves on and off the mats. If you’re looking for quality instruction, and a family friendly atmosphere, look no further. This is the place for you. Highly recommend checking this place out.
Great teaching and great rolls. Coach Solomon is an excellent instructor, and all the students are welcoming and helpful. Come through!
Absolutely outstanding enviroment and coaching. A great place to grow!
Great place to train, happy to be here. Excellent coaching and leadership from Solo fostering a safe, educational, and empowering training environment. I'm excited to see the impact this school will have!
Whether you're looking to start your BJJ journey, or sharpen your skills on the South Side, highly recommend South Side Jiu Jitsu Club. Can't say enough good things about Professor Solo and Lawrence.
Good gym led by a good black belt instructor. Vibes are on point and rolls are fun.
Sick club. The prof there is high level. Excited to see this little jiu jitsu club blow up on the south side.
South Side Jiu Jitsu Club is a gem in Hyde Park. Great instructors. Good community of training partners. If you’re on the South Side and looking for a place to train check them out. First class is free.
Solomon is an amazing instructor and more importantly a great person. SSJC is an excellent place to learn self-defense, get in shape, and prepare for jiu jitsu/grappling competitions!
They do have a lot of available hours for younger kids. Which was attractive to me. I signed up 2 kids and got my friend to Sign up her sons. However, due to the constraints of being a single parent, I can count on hands the amount of times my son has went to his class. My son absolutely hates it, Which makes it a struggle to get him to go, And he won that struggle. In the last two months I have paid for and they have not went at all. I finally got around to cancelling, Received the email back due to their “28 day cancellation policy” I will be charged again. Not considering the fact that payments are maintained for months without the boys going to the class at all. They clearly want more free money, Because the boys do not go, have not went, And not planning to go. Based on this reason, I would not consider them in the future when I decide to move forward with classes.
The children’s classes are usually wonderful when Coaches Solomon, Jole or Darrin are teaching. Solomon pushes the children and he’s always switching the techniques up. Darrin is firm, he demands respect and doesn’t allow the children to get off task. He put a stop to the children talking when he’s teaching. Which I appreciate. Jole is patient, kind but makes sure the children understands the technique or forms when needed. Other coaches ignore when children don’t have partners, they’ve played “head, shoulders, knees, pineapples” for half the class before. They’ve also wasted time playing dodge ball for 30 minutes once instead of the children perfecting their crafts and techniques. They’ll end the children’s class early JUST to start the adults class right after. Class length is only 45 minutes. Trying to support a program where my son could relate to the instructor was a waste of time. We tried this program for over 3 months and they mostly “play”. He has since enrolled in another jiujitsu school where there’s more structure. The children focus more and respect their coaches. The coaches are hands on and informative.
