My 6 year old has been attending SJJA Kawana for 2.5 years. We decided to start him in the April prior to beginning Prep to give him a head start in all the key foundation skills required, but in a fun & structured environment. I cannot recommend or speak any higher of the entire team and absolute professionalism, care, encouragement & respect that is instilled throughout each & every class he attends. If you’re looking for a place that thrives on encouraging resilience, persistence, courage, team work & respect, then this is well worth checking out. A beautiful community to be a part of.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can’t recommend SJJA Kawana Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu highly enough. The coaching from the two Gus’s, Travis and Tiago is outstanding, knowledgeable, patient and incredibly good at adapting training to the individual. As a slightly broken, ageing athlete 😂, I’ve really appreciated their ability to challenge me while working around what my body can and can’t do. But what stands out most is the culture. It’s welcoming, respectful, supportive and genuinely feels like a community. You’re pushed to improve without ego, and people genuinely want to see each other succeed. I rate the environment so highly that I’ll be enrolling my grandson and nephews. That probably says more than anything else. Fantastic coaches, fantastic culture, fantastic people. Highly recommend SJJA Kawana. Nga mihi nui Jamie Milne JMT
I had my first trial lesson with Professor Gustavo and it was fantastic. He is friendly, attentive, and made me feel comfortable from the start. I’m looking forward to the next lessons. Highly recommended!
We love attending SJJA Kawana. Bruno and the coaches are really friendly and supportive. The kids in my son's group are welcoming. He always has the best time when he's there!
SJJA Kawana has Been the best thing that has happened in my life and my two Sons. Without the Encouragement of Gus, Bruno, Brianna and Tiago i would not have started back BJJ after 12 years off the Mats. I Have trained at two other Clubs and SJJA Kawana is on another level of Respect for Each Other, making the Classes enjoyable for Adults and kids, Super Friendly Coaches and Training Partners. The Coaches knowledge of Jiu-jitsu is World Class and is Very Effective. Very Clean Gym also. It makes a world of difference on the Mats and off the Mats. My kids have changed so much from starting at SJJA, the Coaches are Awesome with Kids, making the Classes Fun and with Learning New Skills of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. We Can Not Thankyous Enough. Osss.🤛
The kids and I all train at Kawana and the coaches, assistant coaches, students and the entire SJJA community are a fantastic bunch of people. They’ve got a great introductory program for new students to make sure everyone feels as comfortable as possible when stepping onto the mat for the first time for both kids and adults. There’s also big mix of ages and experience in the adult classes which is great for sharpening your competition skills, steadily progressing your BJJ journey or just training and meeting good people within the local Sunshine Coast community. If you’ve been thinking about starting or moved to the area and need a great place to train then i highly recommend heading down and trying a class.
Great and friendly environment, great space for all ages. A great gym for kids and parents to train together. So good to have a gym like that on our community. Highly recommend.
