Very welcoming club, excellent grappling instructor. The MMA classes could perhaps use a bit more striking and strength training, but the instructor is very pedagogical and readily offers personal assistance. The gym is very well-equipped and offers fitness classes.
My friend and I swung by while on holiday. Richard, the instructor, was extremely friendly, and made the class very fun. He helped each student with individual problems they had and gave advice on how to improve
If you’re considering trying a club in Albany I would highly recommend SBG. Richard has done an amazing job creating a no-fuss club and a practical approach to learning jiu jitsu. It’s purely no-gi (the future), there is a full size cage for MMA, super nice mats for sparring, showers, loads of parking out the back, and everything is super clean. Also if you want to get your kids into the sport, especially during the Albany winter, SBG has a huge kids team and they play heaps of fun games that I low-key wish we could have done in the adults classes. Also the website is nice and has all the information you need about pricing and times so there is no “try a class and I’ll tell you the price” going on.
Great place to train! I dropped in here for a evening no-gi class and was made to feel very welcome. The gym is clean and has excellent facilities. Richard the coach is great teacher! Would definitely recommend to anyone passing lots of solid rolls.
My son and I have joined up. Richard is an excellent coach, as are all of the current members. The more experienced people will go at your pace and help you succeed. It’s a fantastic environment with great attitudes to match.
Just did a drop in with my partner and I. This club has great facilities, clean, and very inviting. You can tell the coach really cares for his students. Everyone was very nice never felt in danger whilst rolling. Thank you again for having us
