I started my BJJ journey when I attended a Women Empowered seminar and never looked back. The team at Ronin Athletics is professional, kind, and creates a safe learning environment. The facilities are absolutely beautiful, very clean and well-lit. They offer programs for both men and women, including Women Empowered (women-only) and Gracie Combatives (co-ed). Once I completed the women’s program I decided to continue my journey with Gracie Combatives which provides you with the fundamentals of jiu jitsu and enjoying every moment of it (thank you team for making classes so much fun/enjoyable training experience every single time). Posted 2 years agoAs someone looking to train in art of BJJ focus on self defense, I couldn’t imagine starting my journey anywhere else. The classes are structured in a way where the lessons gradually build upon each other by focusing on a few fundamental techniques at a time. Through gradual exposure, even the hardest classes are easily digestible especially when paired with the supplemental online lessons. You can learn at your own pace, and really gain a reliable foundation that will cover many of the common scenarios you may face in a street fight. After gaining comfort through repeated exposure to the basics, you then learn how to chain the techniques together and improve your overall fluidity. The staff, as well as your classmates are all a pleasure to work with. My only regret concerning Gracie University NYC is that I didn’t start sooner !
Posted 2 years agoI started my jiu-jitsu journey at Ronin athletics and I couldn't be happier. As a beginner, it is important to find a place where you want to return and you don't get smashed or injured. Coach Montes created a friendly and safe environment for everyone. When you join, you start with a Gracie combatives course which gives you most common techniques like take downs, chokes, etc. Those techniques give you a good foundation and are easily applicable for street self defense. Once you graduate from the course and get a certificate, you can start rolling with higher belts and learn more advanced techniques. Techniques are split into 3-4 week chapters concentrating on specific topics like back attacks, half guard, etc. This gives you sufficient time to drill and persist new knowledge. Don't hesitate and come take a trial class!

Ronin Athletics in midtown New York City offers excellent self-defense training through Gracie Jiu Jitsu, focusing on real-world situations. Knowledgeable instructors and a supportive and safe environment make it a great choice for anyone seeking practical martial arts skills.
