What makes RGA special is the culture: everyone here trains hard but with humility, encouragement, and mutual respect. Kids, adults, hobbyists, and competitors all find their place. The academy fosters discipline, confidence, and resilience on the mats, while also building friendships and bonds that last far beyond training.

I was invited to come to an open roll and had a great time. Professor Alex was welcoming despite knowing I had never trained at his gym. After inviting me to roll, and destroying me, the great atmosphere continued through out the session. I highly recommend checking this gym out if you want to train Jiu Jitsu.

It’s such an honor to train at Roger Gracie Academy in Frisco, Texas under Professor Alex Faria! Professor Alex is a 4th degree Gracie Black Belt, a peer who has trained with Roger Gracie since the early days of their youth among other world class competitors. Professor Alex has also been a foundational teaching Professor at the original Roger Gracie Headquarters Academy in London, England. Alex was also the trusted curriculum developer of Roger Gracie TV online Jiu Jitsu instructional! We are really spoiled by all the positional and specific details Professor Alex outlines! I particularly am very grateful for a comprehensive focus of a stand-up game that incorporates Judo stance, take-down game that transitions seamlessly into the mat and ground game. Also appreciate Professor Alex’s technical breakdown down to very specific and nuances details for maintaining connection and for maintaining better control through ever my stage and transition of every move being worked on. Professor Alex does a great job explaining why most moves are done traditionally one way or another and ways he developed small details to add to maintain better control or reduce exposure to a counter move by an advanced opponent; while encouraging and reassuring students that it ultimately is not his style or any particular one style that is best, but what is best is what works best for you to maintain the advantage over your opponent without losing the position. Professor Alex is very humble and approachable person with a how high quality and the depth and breadth of his Jiu Jitsu for someone who has been training since the old school era. Professor Theo and Coach “Papa” Travis run a transformational youth and kids Jiu Jitsu program that is thriving and is extremely impressive to see how much the kids progress in their Jiu Jitsu every passing week. For the adults program, we cover a lot of techniques, a lot! Each and every move from an adults beginners class and all adults class is connected in the same theme and foundational position that week and it builds from position to position every week. There is a lot to take in and it’s an encouraging environment to come train as often as possible to really build on the framework of all the great techniques being practiced each week. I also love that in addition to training in Judo stand up and Jiu Jitsu ground game, we train every week in both Gi and no-Gi variation of the techniques every week and one of the best days of the week is Thursday Fun-Days where everyone takes turns playing top and bottom position in every major Jiu Jitsu position: Closed Guard, Half-Guard, Side-Control (Cross-Side), Mount and Back before going to live sparring! You put the whole thing together and it is a great place to make your Jiu Jitsu grow exponentially with each passing week.

Can’t get any better than learning from the only Roger Gracie Black Belt in Texas and one of Roger’s best and most trusted at that.
