We have been coming here for almost 7 months. My son is 6 and the amount of growth I have seen is amazing! TRUST the process…and DO NOT interfere with the Process! The dojo/gym fosters a sense of community and structure. The children’s class has been growing, but despite the growth they always have an adequate amount of instructors and ALL children get attention. Honestly even if there were only 1 instructor to train the class ALL instructors have such excellent classroom management skills it could be done with just 1 instructor. They will hold children to a high standard of conduct but there is a great mix of accountability and support and care. ALL staff are nice and respectful and not only extend that to the children but to the parents as well. The exercises and drills look challenging for an adult to do but the children learn and get great form. They also help and encourage each other to learn. Bullying and poor conduct is not tolerated by any instructor. They do a good job of thinking out of the box and pairing children up with different skilled students to enrich everyone’s learning experience They offer private sessions for a fee. My little guy makes sure we are on time for his 1:1 on Saturday mornings! I have nothing to compare to with prices but will say this you get what you pay for. Your child is exercising and learning essential life skills, conflict resolution, and safety skills 6 hrs a week! I’ve had a chance to observe the Saturday adult sessions while my little guy is doing his private lessons and my assessment is that it is high quality. I would recommend it to an adult or parent interested in their child learning. You get more than what you sign up for. I would take lightly the less positive reviews. The facility is super clean I see them clean it all the time! I haven’t encountered any poor attitudes…..but…. these instructors are working crazy hours teaching adults and children ALL day 6 days a week between 2 locations consistently with a calm positive attitude. Did you catch them on an off day? (I haven’t) Were you trying to nickel and dime the price? Was your attitude off putting ? Idk I’m not casting any stones at those who didn’t express an ideal experience but I’ve consistently had a good experience for the last 7 months and my husband who is a tough nut to crack and he loves this place!

Love the instructors and the space to train. Very welcoming, and helpful. Do not be afraid to ask for help if you’re new, it is the only way you’ll learn! From tying your belt, or learning bjj etiquette, everyone in there is going to try to help you. Worth every penny.

Exceptional BJJ Academy Experience! I recently joined Renzo Gracie Bayside and I couldn't be happier with my decision. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the friendly staff and fellow practitioners. Expert Instruction: The instructors Brandon & Prof Berto at Renzo Gracie Bayside are not only highly skilled in BJJ but also incredibly passionate about teaching. They break down techniques in a way that's easy to understand and provide individualized feedback to help each student improve. The atmosphere is always positive and supportive. Whether you're a beginner or advanced practitioner, everyone is encouraged to challenge themselves and grow at their own pace. Lastly, Cleanliness and safety are top priorities , The facilities are well-maintained, and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure that proper sanitation measures are in place, especially important given the current circumstances. This gym encapsulates the phrase “we’re all family here.” The welcoming energy of the coaches and staff really makes you feel like you’re not only welcomed here but you’re a part of the family and it doesn’t just stop at the coaches and the staff, even the people attending classes. I’ve been attending this gym since may and I’m so happy I decided to sign up. My fellow students from the moment I walked in made me feel welcomed and accepted. Coach Joey is as likable as they come and strives to connect to as many students on a personal level as he can. Coach Jeremy is a funny charismatic coach and loves engaging in banter with his students while teaching. I can’t say praise this gym enough and if my opinion matters to anyone reading this place that may be on the fence on whether or not they should join I leave you with this, do it. Do it because you won’t regret it.

Renzo Gracie Bayside is the best program in the area. I have sent my kids to many different sports/activities, but we stick with Renzo. We attend the class 2-3 times a week. My daughter and son had so much fun all the time. They are learning skills and manner, training them not only physically but mentally. They made very good friends there. They practice together and respect each other. And the membership fee is very reasonable. We will continue to attend probably for years.

좋았어요. 음.. 뭐라설명해야하나.. 일단 깔끔하고. 아이들가르치는선생님들이. 군더더기가 없어요. 이뜻은. 운동을가르키면서 필요하지않은것을 가르치지않아요. 정말 진지하게 가르키는것같고. 아이들조차 진지하게 배우는것같은.. 그런느낌.. 그리고. 다른돈이 들어가지않아요. 이뜻은.. 벨트값. 원복비. 테스트비.보호대..뭐..이런거?! 이곳에서는 원복. 보호대를 다 부모님이직접구매해요. 아마존같은..값을더 쳐줄필요도. 비싼걸살필요도. 부모님이알아서 결정하는거같더라고요. 아무튼 너무 마음에들긴했어요. 참고로 시작할수있는나이는 6살입니다. 등록전에 20불내고 따라할수있는지 테스트를먼저봐야해요. 통과못하면. 등록조차할수없어요... 참고로 전 6개월이후에다시오라고했답니다.. 6개월이지난후면 받아줄수있다나요.. ㅠㅠ 20불내고테스트후. 원복을받아왔답니다. ㅎㅎ 아무튼. 너무좋은경험이였어요!!

Been here only three months and I would like to start off this review by saying how legit the instructors and martial arts here are. I do 7 classes a week, mix of muay thai and brazilian jiu-jitsu and it has been a huge learning experience. I have become so much better after just three months and recognize that there is so much more to learn from here. Instructors are super friendly and always happy to help out anyone willing to learn. The peers are also just as friendly and the environment in this dojo is incomparable to anything else. I should know, I have been to a dojo where the martial arts was just for show. This school teaches you the real deal, and preps you up for self defense and sport competition all while getting you into shape

My experience with Renzo Gracie Academy in Bayside is life changing. The teachers are very dedicated and passionate in what they do. My first month was very challenging specially learning how to front roll at the age of 52. I am still adjusting to the physical and emotional demand of learning jiu jitsu and still in the process of establishing a strong and basic foundation. The teachers are dedicated and passionate, they pay attention to details. The facility is clean and also students are also encouraged to take part in keeping the academy in order. I also like that there is a firm code of conduct and there is a certain standard expected on each student. Lastly, in my two months of learning jiu jitsu in this academy, i already saw a progression in my technique and in my attitude towards challenges in the mat and outside the mat. I highly recommend Renzo Gracie Martial Arts Academy.

I waited 1 month after joining to write this review. I wanted to be sure. This is the real deal. No BS at this school. Facility is clean. People are friendly and willing to show the ropes to absolute beginners like myself. The professors and instructors keep a great pace with each class and are very detail oriented. Plenty of street and metered parking, and also accessible via public transportation. My only regret is not joining the 1st day they opened.

This school has an amazing atmosphere from the instructors to the students everyone is a big family. You are able to learn from world class instructors but at the same time make instant friends. It also helps that the facility is top knotch. I've been to many gyns across the world and this is one of the friendliest and cleanest gyms I've been to. Management is doing a great job. If you are in the area definitely check them out.

I was there since the beginning and I’ve seen the transformation of the gym get better and better. The instructors, the other students, and the atmosphere is phenomenal. I came to check out this gym right when they opened up, and ever since day one every single instructor/member of the staff has been so warm and welcoming. I've been here for about five months now, and day after day I leave the gym feeling great! You'll always be surrounded by people who are looking to learn and grow, as well as instructors who are looking to help you get to where you want to be. The facility is solid, in terms of the mat space (they made great use of the space that was there when bell sports plaza was around) and in terms of other equipment for the muay thai and striking classes (pads/heavy bags/dumbbells/medicine ball/etc). Locker rooms have showers so you can wash up after classes. I'd highly reccomend you call the gym and check it out, do a walk through/take an intro class. FYI, for the ladies out there who are curious but maybe a bit hesitant about checking out the gym: It can be a little daunting at first since the vast majority of the students at the gym are males, but rest assured there's a steady group of women who come out to train regularly, so don't wait and come through!

I’ve trained MMA in a few places in fresh meadows, bayside and Whitestone and I have to say they all pale in comparison to renzos academy in bayside. Top notch instructors, no egos, family oriented a great staff and a wonderful atmosphere I honestly have never encountered anywhere else. If your looking for a place to train definitely look no further this is the place.

Wonderful place! My 2 boys (teen & a little guy) along with my husband, have been taking classes at RGB since they opened up & they all love it here. My boys beg me to take them every day but we live on Long Island and with school now, it gets tough. The professors, instructors and staff are all truly wonderful. They're kind, knowledgeable, patient (especially for my little guy) and just great people. They teach the classes well- there's organization, structure and discipline. My older son says "it's like one big family here". In just a few weeks, I have seen my younger son go from the kid on the side who refused to do anything to now getting his Renzo Gracie shirt on, packing up his own Gi in his bag and rushing me out the door at 4pm. He engages fully and even volunteers to do the moves he's being taught. The classes taught have instilled great confidence in my older son. He was yearning to do BJJ/Muy Thai and this is the perfect place to learn it. Thank you guys for coming to Bayside (25 minutes closer to my home).

As a student of RGB I have nothing but excellent experiences in this academy, great facility, great instruction, great training buddies and hands down great instructors from Day 1. I initially thought the only thing that's going to be a problem was the lack of parking spots, but even that has not become a problem at all. I see staff cleaning the mats like clockwork, and I am one to experience training in gyms before where I only see staff cleaning the mats once in a blue moon. They have changing rooms with individual shower stalls with free liquid soap and shampoo. There was a review saying that a certain gentleman was not properly attended to when he walked in for information, I am sorry for his experience but I believe the incident might be a sort of aberration, something out of the norm. I've been to terrible places with rude people and this place is definitely not one of them. I'm not saying what happened to him is not true, but one possibility is that at most 99 out of 100 times you'll expect great experiences here in RGB, he just probably caught that 1% on a bad day. If the person who had that experience is reading this, Hey guy, try and check it out again I'm positive that you'll like it this time around and don't be held back from a great jiu jitsu training because of the initial experience. See you on the mats!

Really nice training staff and coaches, but does make people uncomfortable in the current pandemic that the staff aren't wearing masks, they're not requiring parents to wear masks, and they're not requiring students to wear mask. Also they don't disinfect between every session, which is kinda disgusting if you think about it since everyone's on the mat

Stopped by to get info. Nobody was there at 2:15.. no class was going on. I asked for details and literally just got answers to my question. Seemed awkward and like they didn't want me there. Needless to say the guy at the desk was not a good salesperson at all.. much less people friendly. I also asked about kid classes for my nephew and he said they wouldn't take him.. my nephew is 4 about to be 5 years old. I just felt a weird vibe. I thought they would be more welcoming and tell me about maybe a trial class to see if I liked it. But I got nothing. So the price is $99 down and then $149 a month for 3 days a week training and this is the beginner program. The advanced is $169 a month. Pretty expensive. Hopefully they are great teachers and friendly towards students. But I went in curious and excited but was turned off by lack of interest in me. They didn't give me a tour introduce me to a teacher nothing. The studio was very clean from what I could see. They just opened a few weeks back.

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Renzo Gracie of Bayside martial arts academy, and I feel compelled to share my frustrations. First and foremost, this place is seriously overpriced. I spoke to Brandon at the front desk, and his attitude was nothing short of condescending and arrogant. It was clear that he had no interest in addressing my concerns or making me feel welcome. Instead, he seemed more interested in numbers. Yesterday, I spoke to someone on the phone about trying out a sample lesson. They assured me that I could come in and experience a class before making any commitments. However, once I got through the door, I was informed that I had to pay $20 for this so-called sample lesson. If this academy had any real confidence in their program and believed people would want to continue, they wouldn't need to scam potential clients out of $20 just for a trial class. The whole experience was a colossal waste of my time and energy. I expected professionalism and a genuine interest in helping newcomers, but instead, I was met with arrogance and deceptive practices. Save your money and your time—find a martial arts academy that actually values and respects potential students. Renzo Gracie of Bayside is clearly more interested in squeezing every penny out of you rather than providing a positive and welcoming environment. Avoid this place at all costs. Reply to the owner Thank you for your response. However, I have a few concerns that remain unaddressed. Firstly, while you state that your pricing is competitive and economical compared to other martial arts schools in the New York City area, my research indicates that several other schools offer more flexible pricing structures and introductory offers that make it easier for newcomers to try out their programs without a substantial initial investment. This suggests that your pricing may not be as competitive as you believe. Secondly, I understand that misunderstandings can occur, but my experience with your staff felt dismissive and unprofessional. It's crucial for customer feedback to be acknowledged and addressed rather than simply stating that your staff is known for their professionalism. Acknowledging the specific incident and providing a concrete plan to prevent such issues in the future would demonstrate a more genuine commitment to customer satisfaction. Lastly, regarding the $20 fee for the introductory lesson, I appreciate that it includes a uniform. However, this information was not clearly communicated upfront. Clear communication about what the fee covers and its benefits could help manage expectations and improve customer satisfaction. Overall, while I understand the challenges in accommodating significant discount requests, improving communication and being more responsive to customer feedback could enhance the overall experience for prospective students.
