My son has been training at RADA Jiu Jitsu for about a year now, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. The professors are absolutely amazing, knowledgeable, and truly care about helping every student grow both on and off the mat. Since starting, my son’s confidence and discipline have grown tremendously, and he’s even begun competing in tournaments! I recently decided to start training as well, and it’s been an incredible experience for both of us. We highly recommend RADA Jiu Jitsu to anyone looking for a welcoming, family-friendly gym with world-class instruction.

If you’re looking for a gym where you can roll around in pajamas and still feel like a superhero, look no further! After three years of grappling with my own inadequacies (and my kids’ excessive energy), I can confidently say that Rada Jiu Jitsu academy is the real deal. Professor Eduardo has somehow managed to turn my kids into little warriors. They love him like he's their favorite superhero—kind, yet commanding enough that they snap to attention when time to do so. Seriously, if he ever runs for office, he has my vote! The gym is so clean that I half-expect to find a pristine white glove hanging around, waiting for someone to inspect it. They disinfect daily, which means the only germs you’ll encounter are the ones that come from your own sweat. And let me tell you, that’s a badge of honor in the world of Jiu Jitsu! The coaches are not only knowledgeable, but they have enough competition experience to make even the fiercest gladiators quiver in their havainas. Whether you're training to compete or just trying to find a way to justify all that pizza you’ve been eating, this place has got your back (and your neck, and your arms, and... well, you get the idea). If you’ve ever wanted to try Jiu Jitsu—or if you just want an excuse to wear a gi and feel like a ninja—do yourself a favor and check out Rada Jiu Jitsu!

Not only was it clean and modern but every single person made me feel so welcome. I feel I came to Rada for the jiu jitsu but I stayed for all the amazing people and professors. They push me to the next level and make training enjoyable. Happy to have started my bjj journey at Rada and excited for my future at Rada.

They say surrounding yourself with the best people forces you to level up your game, and demand more of yourself than you thought you could do. If you are looking for this kind of an environment with learning, physical fitness and stepping outside your comfort zone, this place is for you. Excellent Professors with a mindset of patience and guidance skillsets to help you grow and change your life. Yes, the Gentle Art may not be for everyone, and it is physical. But the humbling rewards are worth it. Excellent place to train and grow.

I used to do Jiu Jitsu back in the day and was extremely skeptical to start training again afraid of injuring myself as I’m well over 40, but Sensei Rafael and his team made sure that I was getting back into it in the proper way, so that I’d benefit physically, mentally and emotionally from each and every class. His methodology to teach is great; gentle, straightforward & extremely knowledgeable. My mobility has improved significantly in a short time, sleeping better and eating better. Thank you RADA. OSS!

The higher belts are always willing to share their knowledge and have been instrumental in teaching me new techniques. It’s not only rewarding but also a great way to improve my flexibility and stamina. I feel like I’m progressing every day, and the support from the entire team is amazing. I joined RADA last week, already attended 10 classes and I’m addicted! Everyone of the professors are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and kind. Kindness is important. Very helpful to new students, aware of our lack of technique so they ensure we know what to do and how to do it and why it’s important. They take the time to demonstrate a move or concept numerous times then have us do it while walking around ensuring we are doing it correctly and even going back to show us a few tips we may have missed. Young or old, big or small, athletic or not, they’re accommodating to everyone and bring the same helpful mentality to each class. Highly recommend to everyone and if you’re a female looking to join, they have a female black belt professor too!!

I’ve been training at RADA Jiu Jitsu Academy for nearly as long as it has existed. This is a very welcoming academy that is very well run by the owner and head instructor Rafael. Whether you’re very focused on taking your Jiu Jitsu to the next level or simply looking for a good workout and the opportunity to make life-long friends, you will find very competent and knowledgeable instructors, who are attentive to the students and foster a safe training environment. Here are the things I appreciate at this academy: - Friendly and very well-run, family-like atmosphere - Instructors with considerable experience, who do not push students beyond safe limits; new students are given particular attention. - Cleanliness: the academy is thoroughly cleaned after every class (vacuum, disinfecting spray and mat sweeping) - Respect: instructors foster a mutually respectful environment In short, I consider this academy as a home away from home and highly recommend it.

Awesome gym! Head instructor Rafael has an effective, methodical approach to teaching a masterful system of Jiu Jitsu grappling. He is an experienced competitor - IBJJF American Nationals Champion for four years in a row. He is very approachable, and carries a vast knowledge of the martial art. Really cool people/team here as well. Super tough too! Classes for kids as well. Jiu jitsu is excellent for developing discipline, instilling confidence and boosting self esteem - not to mention great exercise. Great place to train, whether you are a newbie to the game or a veteran grappler.

I drive an hour to come train with professor Rafael and it is well worth it. Rafael is a very technical teacher and a all around nice guy. Come try a class and you wont be dissapointed.

if you want a gym that you can train for a lifetime, this is it. When i first moved to San diego, i was reluctant to walk into any random academy, but i'm so glad that the first gym i walked into happens to be the best one. Professors are very professional and knowledgable (also highly qualified). Very welcoming environment with very friendly students. I've made great friends and everyone encourages me to try harder. Whether you are looking for a place to train for physical and mental improvement or be a serious competitor, this is the place to be. Osss!!

Clark Gracie La Jolla has been good to me. I started my Jiu Jitsu journey here about 4 months ago and have had a great experience. Many black belts that are helpful and great energy!

Great training, friendly people, awesome atmosphere! My son (6 years old) and I have been training there for the past 6 months and he's loving it as well. He never misses a class! Thanks Rafael for the great training.

We love this place. They have amazing beginner kids classes with quality black belt Brazilian instructors. The classes 45 min and the kids get to learn, practice and play. My son was reluctant to start any martial arts class at all! We took him to other studios and same result. When we first started at La Jolla Gracie Clark Ju Jitsu he also was very reluctant to even try but after only a couple weeks he was looking forward towards each class! I highly recommend this place for those parents who are looking for quality Ju Jitsu training for their kids. It's a very friendly, family oriented place where kids can grow to love this sport.

I have trained at a few different places: Gracie Barra in Austin, Brea and Roger Gracie in London. Clark's it's far my favorite. Smart knowledgeable instructors and it is a true community. This La Jolla location is outdated. Check his website. They opened a new place in old town.

Greatest jiu jitsu academy ever! I have been a student of Clarks for several years now and would recommend training here to any one. Everyone that trains there is really nice and Clark is a great instructor. Plus the location is amazing, basically if you don't at least go try it out you are missing out on an amazing opportunity to train with one of the best in the world!

I’ve had several experiences at this gym. While the staff demonstrates professionalism and a solid teaching approach, my interactions have occasionally felt less engaging. It’s evident that the team excels with paying students, but at times, the overall atmosphere can seem a bit less friendly. As a black belt in jiu-jitsu, I believe humility is crucial for anyone with extensive experience in the training environment. For those seeking jiu-jitsu instruction in San Diego, it can be helpful to explore a variety of gyms. Many offer a consistently respectful and supportive atmosphere that enhances the learning experience. Finding a gym whose teaching style and overall environment match your personal preferences can significantly impact your training. My review reflects my personal experiences and observations. I encourage readers to consider the details and context provided in my feedback. My intention is to share my genuine experience to assist others in making informed decisions.
