We took our son there last year when we lived in Charlotte. They were amazing, especially Mr.Macy! My son really respected him and that was the first thing I noticed since bringing him there. His respect toward people rose tenfold!! Unfortunately we decided to move back north, the city was just not for us. But for anyone around there looking for your child to learn self defense and even gain a little respect, here is where you want to bring them. We will forever remember that opportunity!!
*Edit! I meant to put 5 stars when I first made this review, not sure why it only put a 3! LOL
An outstanding academy with skilled coaches and a supportive culture! The academy will help you achieve any goal from fitness, self defense, recreation, and competition. Coaches are kind, patient, and supportive regardless of your age or abilities. Classes are conveniently scheduled and there are options for early morning, afternoon and evening. QCJJ has everything!
QCBJJ has diverse members ranging from men, women, kids, ranks, competitive, and recreational. The school and members are welcoming. My son and I joined for recreation and self-defense. He started in the kids program and transitioned smoothly to the adults program. It’s been a great bonding experience training together! Some members pick up the techniques quickly, but I learn through repetition and osmosis. I appreciate how Mr. Macy and other instructors are patient and good at explaining technique. They also take the extra time to discuss any physical issues and provide modifications. Enjoy your journey!
This place is more than just a gym it’s a community! I have been training here for almost 2 years now and I never walk in with out being welcomed. Coach Bill is a great teacher with lots of patience who takes time with takes time with each of his students to make sure they understand the techniques
He is teaching.
Queen City Jiu Jitsu is fantastic! Not only are they patient with every student they are kind and help each person individually. They truly are a small business that cares about their students of all ages.
This is a great, family friendly place. I’ve been impressed from the beginning. My elementary age daughter and I have both enjoyed learning Jiu Jitsu for over a year now. I’ve found their children’s classes to be safe, fun and enjoyable for my daughter. Though I was nervous about my first class as a 40 year old man with no Jiu Jitsu experience, I found everyone to be friendly, and supportive. Over the past year, I’ve gotten to know the instructors and have found them to be good people. I highly recommend Queen City Jiu Jitsu.
The staff at Queen City Jiu Jitsu is amazing. I can’t say enough good things about them. Our son often needs extra help due to his age. The coaches always take extra time to help him. We are so happy to have found them.
Queen City Jiu Jitsu has been great for both my boys as well as myself. Along with self defense, and discipline. It has been an absolute bonding experience for the boys and I. All the coaches are knowledgeable, patient, and friendly, both with kids and adults. Highly recommend!
Great place to train at. I had been bouncing from academy to academy for the past decade or so. Only took one week over a QCJJ to figure out this is where i wanted to be. Now I have both of my daughters, training here too. Their curriculum is great like all Pedro Sauer Schools, but they really take their time to guarantee your growth both in knowledge and physical.
A terrific environment and culture for developing proficiency in all avenues of Jiu Jitsu. Coach Bill Macy and staff maintain the cleanest of facilities and provide their students with opportunities to work with masters from the area and beyond. Personally speaking, Queen City was a wonderful discovery and distraction from the current pandemic and new home work environment. Wish I did it sooner.
Our 6 year old absolutely loves Queen City Jiu Jitsu. All the instructors are professional and super patient with the students. Yet very good at reinforcing structure and discipline. He is learning so much!
We love it at QCJJ! Our 6 year old started in the Fall of 2020. He was 5 at the time. It is his first experience with Jiu Jitsu and he’s really liking it. He’s made some great little friends and I enjoy watching him encourage others to succeed. Mr. Macey is very patient with our son (and all of the kids) and our son has learned so much from him.
Queen City Jiu Jitsu is an amazing place with a fantastic family atmosphere and caring, knowledgeable, fun instructors. Our warrior princess has been training for just a little over two years and has loved every minute. They’ve instilled a passion in her that is evident in each and every teacher she has trained with. Highly recommend! ❤️
Our son Joseph loves it at Queen City Jiu Jitsu! Mr. Macy and all the other coaches are amazing. They made Joseph feel very comfortable and welcomed since day one. The facility is run extremely well! I highly recommend Mr. Macy and Queen City Jiu Jitsu!
We are absolutely thrilled with our experience at Queen City Jiu Jitsu!!! Everyone is so incredibly kind and welcoming. My 14 year old son was excited to start but very apprehensive about being “the new kid”. Bill and Chris are amazing instructors and my sons apprehension quickly turned into enthusiasm.
Both the child and adult classes are very organized and well run. It’s amazing to see men & women of all experience levels working together to learn from the instructors and each other. I would recommend Queen City Jiu Jitsu for men, women and children of any age!
Both my husband and 6 year old son started here on a 1 month trial deal and have been going for almost 3 months now. The trial price included a gi which was great. You can take unlimited classes and use both locations (Fort Mill and Ballantyne). There are 4 classes each week (at Fort Mill) and one almost every night between the two locations which makes it flexible. Bill at Fort Mill is so great with the younger kids. He is patient yet assertive and drives them to focus, work hard, and have fun.
Queen City JJ is an excellent dojo for practitioners of all ages. Whether you're a beginner looking to build a base of knowledge and confidence or someone with a BJJ background, either way you'll be enriched. Facility is clean, well managed and top notch.
Come to blow off some of that 2020 steam!
Bill and his team are absolute professionals, and possess the skill to effectively teach this art. More importantly, Bill and his team have empathy and show individualized care for each and every student while effectively running group sessions. My Family and I couldn’t be happier with this team, and the discipline, focus and physical fitness my sons are developing under his mentorship.
Honestly I didn’t know what to expect when I first joined up. I was very unsure of myself and doubted I would last more than a class or two. I’ve never had any martial arts experience. A few short months later I’ve completely changed my mind. The instructors are top knotch and I’m very impressed with the way you’re more or less eased in to the program so you’re not overwhelmed and lose hope at the start. QCJJ really feels like an extended family, and at the end of the day that’s the best compliment I can give. Wholeheartedly recommend QCJJ for anyone looking to get a great workout and learn self defense.
Amazing and patient instructors, great training environment for all levels, cleanliness and safety is kept top-of-mind.
QCJJ is very inclusive and makes you feel like part of the family as soon as you walk through the doors. A year ago, I signed up for self-defense reasons but didn’t realize that the team, and Jiu-Jitsu itself, was going to provide me with a sense of peace and balance.
Come join us!
My experience with QCJJ has been outstanding. My daughter has really thrived in the program and the instructors have been great making her feel welcomed. They have worked with her to develop her skills and she looks forward to going to class. The other students have been welcoming as well and she has made several friends with like interests. I would recommend QCJJ to anyone young or old looking to enter the sport, get in a workout, and meet new people.
