Paul is a 3rd degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with over 20 years of study, certified by the IBJJF and the Chief instructor and Head Professor at Putney BJJ. He is a 40-year veteran of martial arts, a Master Instructor and a multi-competition medalist.

Alex joined the club during his Sports Science degree, became the gym manager and competes at the top end of UK BJJ. He leads the Fundamentals and Junior Programs at Putney BJJ and has earned IBJJF European medals in Gi and No-Gi categories.

    I joined Putney Jiu Jitsu after several years of training BJJ and have felt incredibly welcome from day one. The academy has a great atmosphere, excellent coaching and a really good mix of people, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Having trained at a number of different academies over the years, I’ve been really impressed by the level of coaching and the friendly, welcoming culture. The training is challenging and technical, but there’s no ego and everyone is happy to help each other improve. I’d highly recommend Putney Jiu Jitsu to anyone in the area, whether you’re looking to try Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for the first time or have been training for years. Joining has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.

    Really great guys and supportive learning experience. As an older martial artist riddled with injuries I feel safe and looked after. My instructor Luis has been really great - really helping me with my conceptual learning and always willing to put in the extra time and effort for slow students like me!

    My daughter recently attended a trial session at Putney Jiu Jitsu Academy and we were really impressed. The coaches and everyone there made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived and created a fun, supportive environment for the children. Although we haven’t signed her up yet because she’s currently committed to other sports we’ll definitely be enrolling her in September. A big thank you to the whole team for making it such a positive first experience.

    BJJ is my misogi. Being not the most coordinated or flexible I decided to challenge and stretch myself. And it’s has been an incredible journey. I’m learning new skills, I’m more flexible and my prioperception is better. Staff are wonderful, facilities clean and safe, and other students/learners super friendly. Happy to recommend training here
