Amazing guys, highly technical, very patient, and maintain an energetic, friendly, and inclusive atmosphere for all to train and grow, be it adults or kids. If one is looking to practice BJJ in a safe, clean, respectful space, this is the place to be at.
I recently returned to Madison after being away for more than 6 months. I previously trained with Coach Bill and Coach Coleman for almost four years so I know what to expect when I drop in and why I plan to train at this place long term. I attended an all-levels class and I am very happy that they're still sharing their Jiu Jitsu wisdom! Fantastic gym all around. Clean facility, good people, family friendly environment. Coach Coleman seems to have just as much fun teaching the kids classes as the kids do attending them! Coach Bill is one of the best instructor's I've ever had for the adult classes. I appreciate how much he keeps his students engaged by taking the time to answer everyone's questions and work with his students individually if needed.

It's great to walk into a space where the coaches and team are just as excited to see you there as you are to be there! Small but mighty! One on one focus and plenty of time to ask questions and to work through problems.
I joined a Friday night class and had an absolute blast. I've been training for almost 4 years, I've seen many gyms in the Madison area and few are as clean and welcoming as Premier. The instruction was very organized, clear, and friendly. The gym itself has excellent mats, bathrooms, changing rooms, and storage. I highly recommend Premier for anybody who wants to train hard, compete, or for those that are just new to grappling. It is extremely safe, the head coaches have phenomenal experience, and insight to give on the sport.
I recently won gold in Gi and silver in No-Gi at a tournament, and I wanted to take a moment to thank Coaches Coleman and Bill for their coaching and support! The instructors at this gym are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Jiu Jitsu. Even if you aren’t interested in competing, I would highly recommend this gym. The atmosphere at the gym is positive and welcoming, and everyone is supportive of each other's progress. I've made some great friends here.

I can’t say enough great things about Bill and Coleman! I have been training with them since 2022 and from the moment I stepped in, I felt welcomed by the friendly and inclusive atmosphere - they are creating a great community of friendship and sportsmanship. The instructors are not only highly skilled but also excellent teachers who take the time to break down techniques in ways that are easy to understand, no matter your experience level. The classes are well-structured, blending technical drills, live sparring, and opportunities to ask questions. Safety and respect are emphasized, which creates an environment where everyone can train as hard as they want and improve without fear of injury.

I have been training with Coach Bill for almost four years and Coach Coleman for almost three and a half years. They've fostered a great environment to learn in. It's one where I can take my grappling seriously, but I don't have to take myself so seriously. It's truly a PREMIER gym.
The facility is clean and modern, the students are fun and hardworking, and the coaches are phenomenal. I've learned so much from both Bill and Coleman. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

Of all the gyms in the Madison area, this is the one. High level technique broken down into understandable bits that anyone can understand. Very enthusiastic coaches that made everyone feel welcome. Good vibes from the other members, felt like I was rolling with people I could trust.
I have been training jiu jitsu for many years both as a student and instructor. I’ve spent time in every Madison area BJJ gym, so when I say Premier Jiu Jitsu is the spot I recommend for adults and kids, know that that is an educated opinion. Pros: Clean facilities, great community, and the best instructors in the Madison area. Bonus points for the sprung floors underneath the mats (this is a BIG DEAL for student safety). Cons: The sound system is lacking, but the music is great so it evens out. The staff is super welcoming to beginners, but the biggest asset is the student base. You won’t find a jiu jitsu club in Dane county with a higher concentration of experienced and knowledgeable practitioners, all of whom are willing to help each other become better grapplers.
I can’t say enough good things about Premier. Coach Coleman and Coach Bill have cultivated an amazing learning environment. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about teaching jiu-jitsu. They take the time to ensure each student understands the techniques, no matter their skill level, and they’re always available to provide helpful tips and feedback.
This is a great gym and an excellent team of members who want you to succeed and get better. Coleman is a great coach!
