My son and daughter love this school! All of the instructors know my kids by name and are patient, knowledgeable and so much fun. The instructors keep the kids super active, and they are learning important life skills- responsibility, courage, perseverance, and respect. They offer so many classes to fit schedules and great holiday parties that are a blast for the kids and their families. Love this place!!!
Posted 2 years agoI am a complete beginner to martial arts and tried out a free week of BJJ classes at Precision Martial Arts on a whim. Now I am completely hooked! I can't speak highly enough of the top-notch instruction, welcoming atmosphere, quality training space, and general good vibes at this gym. Professor Tyrone and Coach Erik are very knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in the learning and skill development of every individual class participant. The new downtown Corvallis location is super nice, too. I am so grateful to have found this place and a new favorite hobby!
I've been training at Precision for about a year now. It's a wonderful gym. Here are a few things I love about it; -The instruction is top notch. Professor Tyrone is easily one of the best martial arts instructors I've ever had. He breaks down his techniques into the right amount of detail, he's patient, he communicates effectively, and he takes the time to walk around and personally check on each student to make sure they're getting it. He also rolls with everyone instead of watching from the side. He's terrifying on the mats and he's always willing to help you improve your game. Coach Erik is the same way. He follows Professor Tyrone's mold but adds his own style. He's fantastic with the kids as well. My 6 year old son recently volunteered to help my wife with some chores at home and he said it was because "Coach Erik told me I can do hard things." His impact on both my son and myself has been hugely positive. -The vibe. Everyone is honestly so chill at this gym. It's infectious. I've never been concerned for my safety while rolling. There are no towering egos to dodge. Literally everyone is nice. It's almost weird, but in a really great kind of way. Everyone is quick to help whenever they can. A few months ago I asked an upper belt if he knew any stretches I could do on my sore shoulders. Dude wrote me out an entire physical therapy routine and walked me through each move to make sure I was doing them right. How cool is that? -The music! Usually if a gym has an MMA class on the schedule you can be sure you're gonna have to endure some form of garbage music at some point or another. I've yet to hear a song I don't like while training at Precision. It makes the workouts so much more fun. Recently The Ramones, Fugazi, Minor Threat, L7, and Nirvana have been in heavy rotation. There's a steady blend of punk, reggae, hip hop, and world music. It rules. Stop thinking about it and come try a class. You won't regret it. They give you an entire week free to try it out.
Incredible instructors. Patient. Prepared. Experienced. Professional. Great environment overall. Great place to learn martial arts and learn about life. Look forward to BJJ class every week. Cannot say enough great things.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It's welcoming enough to get beginners hooked and intensive enough to keep experienced people engaged. If you're looking for a sign it's time to start, here you go.
Great for beginning kids, easy going teachers work with the kids, and help them learn at their pace. Less strict and more understanding, but does encourages following rules and teaches kids options in real life situations.
Posted 3 years agoI love this school. My son has been going here almost a year now. He started with the summer camp in 2020, then enrolled in weekly lessons, and is now in black belt training. My daughter recently enrollment in weekly lessons as well and loves it! The instructors are so friendly and do a great job keeping the kids engaged. The kids do exercises, learn valuable life lessons, and learn self defense. Mr. Harris has been so helpful in helping my son come out of his shell and be more outgoing. I highly recommend this school and summer camp!
Posted 5 years agoWe have only been going to PMA for a few months now and I just love it. The passion the instructors have helping their students grow is so wonderful to see. You can see that they truly care about the wellbeing of the students and keep them excited to continue. Adam, the owner, is so kind and has some great team members by his side.
Posted 5 years agoIf your looking for a martial arts gym that is dedicated and focused on their students- this is it. Never before have i had such positive interactions at a gym. You are welcomed as family, all people- regardless of current skill level. Coach justin and professor tyrone are patient, professional, and genuinely care for their students. This is a facility that anyone can walk into and feel welcomed. Every student i have had a interaction with has been overtly positive. Everyone is family. Everyone will take time out of their day to help you with your technique and skill level. I genuinely cannot put into words how positive it is to walk into this gym and work on martial arts. The instructors are incredibly knowledgable, and have a plethora of experience over a lifetime if martial arts. If you're nervous about starting out, just walk into the gym and your worries will immediately subside. This is a family, and i cannot be more appreciative of being a part of precison martial arts. This is the best thing ive done for my life in many years. I look forward to seeing new faces in the future!
Fantastically clean facility, great instruction, and a good environment for a wide range of martial arts participants. Self contained studio with BJJ, striking, and fitness & weight training equipment.
They provide excellent instruction during their classes and are incredibly accommodating to new students. The instructor is knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. I would recommend them to anyone I know.
Great instruction and ownership! Diverse classes for many Martial Arts desires!
No matter your past, everyone supports you to the best they can. You never walk out with a frown.
Super clean, positive and fun environment Instructors are patient, fun and very dedicated to martial arts. A great place to start or continue your martial arts experience.
I trained Muay Thai here for a few months. Unfortunately I can't afford it now but I definitely recommend Rise to anyone and everyone. Great staff, friendly atmoshphere.
Great Muay Thai instructor and class! You'll learn a lot, get a good workout, and meet some great people! Highly recommend!
I've been training at Rise for a little over a year and love the instruction and community. The coaching staff is incredibly knowledgeable and invested in their students' success, there are a lot of classes to choose from to fit most any schedule and individual's goals, and the partners we train with are very welcoming. I always highly recommend Rise MMA.
great atmosphere, awesome instruction, i really like how clean and family friendly the facility is. I would highly recommend rise to my best friends.
Having trained at numerous locations over the years, I can honestly say the last three years at Rise have been far above average in both quality and quantity. The black belt Jiu Jitsu instruction and MMA program is phenomenal. The number of classes available ensures that Rise can work for anyone's schedule.
Rise Mixed Martial Arts is the best place to train Jiu Jitsu in Corvallis.
Josh and his instructors provide a safe and welcoming environment to martial artists of all age levels and experience. I was thoroughly impressed with how understanding they were of an individual's needs as well as how caring, focused and respectful the classes were. A great workout, valuable skills, fun and an instructor who is so incredibly fluid with his obvious Jiu Jitsu mastery, that he continually inspires one to improve while breaking it down in such a way as to make it accessible to anyone. Highly recommended.
Good instructors and environment but incredibly over priced
Very disappointed leaving Precision today... at least I was a free trial period. I took my son today to check out the lil ninja program (3,4yr old group) He is 4 and this would have been his first activity he's joined. We were excited to give it a try. Never ONCE were we acknowledged not even so much as a greeting. For awhile my son did his own thing off to the side, away from the group... He was never asked to join the group. After about 20 mins I put my son's shoes back on and walked out the door. While I know it's not their job to "make" the kids participate a little acknowledgement would have helped! Inviting my son to join the group and showing him what was expected would have helped!
