I'm a school owner and avid Jiu-jitsu competitor. I've know Dylan and his family for well over a decade. They are amazing people with true love and dedication to the sport of Jiu-Jitsu. Only a special group of athletes are able to maintain consistent success in competition through the colored belts onto black and Dylan is one of them. This is the place to train in Tallahassee.

Great gym for all levels and ages. Friendly and welcoming environment mixed with high level coaches and members. Whether your goal is to just learn a new skill and get in shape or to be a high level jiu-jitsu competitor, Positive Balance help you reach that goal. Nicest facility in the area as well. Clean mats, plenty of space, they really have it all!

Best BJJ training around! Truly treated my kids like family from the time they started. Good place for my kids to be surrounded by positive influences and role models:). We love our positive balance family!

This is the best Jiujitsu gym I’ve ever been a part of. I train here, my 10 year boy old trains here and my daughters will train here as soon as they are old enough. Come in and train, you’ll be glad you did.

Dylan and his father are both amazing instructors with a positive environment. Everyone at their gym was super welcoming to me when I arrived. The facility was spotless and it was apparent that their passion is what was driving them. I highly recommend anyone in the area to check them out!!

Awesome high level sport Jiu Jitsu school offering both Gi and No Gi Jiu Jitsu with coaches who are also active competitors! If you're looking for high level Jiu jitsu training in the Tallahassee area, and a welcoming, positive environment, you've found the place! I've trained at this school many, many times and have nothing but great things to say about the gym, its students and the coaches! If you find yourself wanting to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or your looking for a great place to visit while traveling, swing by! You won't be disappointed! Highly recommend!

I never considered myself athletic, but I've always been interested in boxing and BJJ since college but never did it because I didn't think I was “fit or able to keep up”. And it's funny because I had this place bookmarked on my maps for years before finally attending my first class. It wasn't until A friend recommended it, and I thought, “yeah I should join! I want to learn to protect myself!!” It turned out to be the best decision I've made! It was beyond learning about protecting myself but challenging my mind and body! So While other places may set a high bar for positivity, this place has no bar—they are simply the best! It's family owned and the coaches Dylan, Jim, Evan, and Maria - (best mat mom in the field!!!) They created the best environment! it feels like a family atmosphere where they genuinely care about your well-being and safety. They create a supportive environment where everyone is treated like family. If you're hesitant, let me assure you that stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new here is worth it. Jui Jitsu does take time to grasp, but the patience and payoff are incredible! This place meets you where you are and celebrates all your wins big or small. I wish I had started sooner and once you start you will think the same!!

We recently started training at Positive Balance after training elsewhere for many years. Dylan and Jim have been tremendous coaches for Jacob and I (Jacob trains way more than I do). The team is great! Everyone has been so welcoming and it feels like a big family! There’s definitely a lot of talented athletes in the room every day! The name is perfect as there is a positive vibe no matter your belt or experience level. I am very appreciative of the coaches and teammates! If you live in Tallahassee or the surrounding area and want to start training you should absolutely come check us out! You won’t regret it!

Started training here briefly over the summer and now coming back full time to train during the school year. I’m happy to say that I’ve enjoyed every second of my time here and can see myself staying at Positive Balance for a long period of time. Overall, this place provides a great environment for sparing and learning, and would definitely recommend as one of the better Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academies in Tallahassee for its affordable pricing and quality teachings.

I was in town for a wedding and Dylan and team were more that accommodating to drop ins. They let me join their lunch class and post roll. Great culture they have in their gym. Awesome spring loaded floors too! Lots of color variability for all skill levels to get quality rolls in.

Before I started training at positive balance, I weighed over 300 pounds and was severely depressed. Now I weigh 180, can bench over 300, and just ran a marathon. I am happier than I have ever been. Positive balance changed my life and it can changes yours too. Oss!

My 5 yo grandson and I have been training for over 18 months at Positive Balance Jiu Jitsu, and we've not only learned a great deal about Jiu Jitsu, but consider ourselves as part of the family atmosphere created by Dylan, Jim and Maria. The children's classes are excellent, where the patience and encouragement towards children from 3 to early teens is stellar. Also, the adults classes are focused, engaging, and even fun to anyone (man/woman, ages from 16 to 80) seeking to learn a serious combat sport. Cannot recommend Positive Balance enough to those seeking a rewarding martial arts journey and/or establishing a firm foundation of character for their children in their early years.

Brought my girlfriends children in for a trial class tonight and was impressed. I train Jiu Jitsu myself and have to say they have one of the best children's programs I have seen. They had two purple belts a white belt AND two black belts instructing. Plenty of attention available for all the children.

BJJ brown belt started training in 2008 at Clearwater Gracie Barra under Eduardo De Lima. I moved to Tallahassee for school and started searching for a new gym. I have trained at every BJJ gym in Tallahassee searching for the best one for me. Positive Balance is the one I chose it has the best instruction along with the best training partners around. The people are very friendly and inviting to all walks of life. This is a great place for all BJJ practitioners whether you are a white belt just starting or a black belt looking for some good rolls. Dylan is a great instructor with competitive experience at the highest level. I highly recommend this gym for Adults and children you will not be disappointed.

My kids have been going since September 2019 and not only have they learned Ju Jitsu but they have gained so much confidence (which has helped them in school)! I could not recommend them enough! They have so much love and compassion for each and every student, which makes them want to come back!! If you ever thought about going, go, I promise you won’t be disappointed!!!!

My Grandson has been going here for almost a year . He loves it . Is frustrated by it when it challenges him . Practices around the house and often times wants to put a hold on his baby sister . When he started he wasn’t going everyday ; however , when he goes daily he really grasps more of what they are teaching him . The staff is excellent , calming and full of energy ! They teach respect & self control among other principals that these students will use for their lifetimes . So happy our little guy is going here . Such a wonderful foundation !

An extremely welcoming community with outstanding coaches. Lots of class times too for shift workers! The facilities are always pristine and mats get cleaned after each class. They don't charge you for promotions, you're not required to buy their gear or anything like that. The striking classes are great and led by the coach with most MMA experience in the area. If you're looking for a place that offers lots of opportunities to train sport Jiu-Jitsu/stiking (classes or open mat every day of the week), you'll want to check out PBG.

Top-notch academy with great people and great instruction. Classes are suitable for all people from all walks of life and all age levels, ranging from beginner skill levels to advanced. If you're looking for Grappling in Tallahasse, this is by far the best spot for a number of reasons. It's an honor to train at an academy with such a friendly atmosphere of people who genuinely care about improving not only themselves, but all of those around them.

Extremely clean and well run facility with top notch instruction from multiple high level and still actively competing instructors. From grappling basics to advanced techniques in and out of the gi, this gym has something to offer everyone. Instructors are very polite, patient, and welcoming. If you live in or are just passing through Tallahassee and enjoy jiu jitsu, grappling arts of any fashion, or are just looking to get into something new and exciting to stay in shape. You owe it to yourself to check this place out.

My son stopped going to the studio in February. But because I didn't give a 30 day notice, I was charged for March. No problem, completely my fault. But 2 months later I'm getting charged for services. I called 2 times on Monday and once today. No answer or call back. Can someone just return my money please 🤷🏾‍♀️
