I feel called to share my experience at Point Blank Martial Arts, as I was a bit out of my comfort zone when I walked through their door (I’m not native to martial arts or self defence of any kind) I’m more of a yoga/cardio/weightlifting kinda gal—but I’m in a season of growth right now — the kind of season where you intentionally stretch yourself into spaces that feel unfamiliar, like martial arts and self defence; I know this is where the real growth and personal transformation happen. And let me be clear — I’m not someone who’s been into martial arts; I wasn’t raised with it, my kids never participated in it, nor did I grow up throwing punches or kicks—this experience was definitely not something that came naturally to me (I’m super uncoordinated). But I kept feeling this pull to step outside of what I know, to build new skills that would serve me not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
When a gym friend mentioned he’s a member at Point Blank Martial Arts—and he sang their praises… I decided to dig deeper and check them out! My first class was free (grateful for that). The owner of the facility, Steve Hyatt worked directly with me inside my first class—he made me feel comfortable, sage, supported, and welcome.
This facility isn’t just for people who are already into martial arts/MMA/Jiu Jitsu/Thai Boxing/Krav Maga, but It’s also for people like me — who are curious and in a growth season, who want to develop a skill set that challenges them, builds confidence, strengthens the mind, and reminds them that they can do hard things. What really stood out to me was the cleanliness of the facility —they sanitize all the mats and equipment at the end of every night. This facility has also created a community of kind humans (members) who show up throughout the week wanting to simply become better versions of themselves . All of the instructors and students are grounded, free of judgement welcoming, and supportive. From my very first class, I felt guided, not judged — and that’s huge when you’re doing something you’ve never done before.
That first free class was the catalyst for me jumping into a month-long membership (no commitments or contracts). The next thing I knew, I was going three times a week. And every time I show up, I continue to leave feeling more empowered, and more mentally accomplished (if that makes sense).
So if you’re feeling that call to stretch into something new — to build confidence, to learn self-defense, or simply to shake yourself out of a dull routine (in the most empowering way) — I can’t recommend Point Blank Martial Arts enough. It’s not just about martial arts — it’s about who you become in the process.
Thank you to the entire Point Blank Martial Arts team… ya’ll are nothing short of awesome🙌🏼😁
With love and gratitude,
SMILE :))
