I was visiting from Dallas to see family and decided to check out this gym while I was in town. Beforehand, they were very easy to reach online and through WhatsApp and were helpful with any questions I had. Professor Patrick was extremely welcoming from the moment I arrived. He introduced me to everyone and made me feel comfortable as a visitor. The class I attended ended up being more of an open mat style session, with a mix of purple belts, blue belts, and plenty of skilled white belts. One thing I really appreciated was that several people approached me to roll, which made things much easier as someone new to the gym and just visiting. I had some great rolls with Muhammad, Alex, and Arman, if I remember the names correctly! I even picked up a new move from Arman that Professor Patrick had taught, which was a cool bonus to the visit. Overall, a great group of people and a very welcoming environment. I would definitely recommend checking them out if you’re visiting the area. Just reach out beforehand to confirm the class schedule and which professor will be teaching, as they have a few different locations.

This is an excellent BJJ academy. Professor Patrick is great at sharing his wealth of martial arts expertise with everyone, new or experienced. I started my BJJ journey at a different Octa BJJ location and ended up migrating to the Mississauga location when I got hooked on Patrick's approach and detailed instruction. I highly recommend this academy to everyone. If you have never tried BJJ, this is a great place to do a trial.
Absolutely love this place. My son has been in jujitsu for over a year now and still loves it. This place is so warm and welcoming and the staff are super friendly. My son (who is 5) was introduced and encouraged by peers and it was a wholesome experience to witness. Patrick is the head coach and I cannot express in words how wonderful he is with the kids. He's so admired by them and he carries a ton of patience! Thank you Patrick for always showing love and compassion as a coach. Also shoutout to Maria who navigates the admin side. She is a beautiful human whom you can tell is passionate and cares deeply for others. This is an all around great place to bring your kids to learn discipline, sportsmanship and endurance. 10/10 highly recommend
Pat and Anthony are both amazing coaches; they provide a great balance of technical detail and live rolling. The culture they’ve built here is awesome—very supportive and ego-free. Highly recommend!
I can’t say enough good things about OCTA Jiu-Jitsu! My daughter started classes here, and the change in her has been amazing. She’s so much more confident now and knows how to stand up for herself. The instructors are fantastic — super patient, encouraging, and really know how to connect with the kids. It’s been awesome watching her grow stronger, both physically and mentally. If you’re thinking about signing your child up for Jiu-Jitsu, I highly recommend this place — it’s been such a positive experience for our family! Maria, coach Vicente and coach Sean are the best !! Really appreciate your hard work!!
I took my son to his first trial class to check it out. I was so impressed!! The instructors are amazing with kids. The class was exciting, entertaining, and my son had the best time. He hasn’t stopped talking about. We will definitely be signing up and I can tell we will be staying for a long time. When I left, I texted my best friend and said “I think we’ve found our community”. I cannot say enough good things about this place or the instructors. I am so happy we found OCTA BJJ
