This is hands down the best jiu-jitsu gym around, especially for kids. The coaches are amazing with children patient, supportive, and truly focused on helping them grow both on and off the mats. The sense of community here is something special. It feels like family every time we walk through the doors. If you’re looking for a place where your child can learn discipline, confidence, and real skills in a positive environment, this is it!

As soon as I put a foot in Native I felt at home. The owners Carlos and Mariely greeted me and my kids with a warm welcome. All the coaches are very professional and dedicated to teaching all the kids. If would highly recommend Native Jiu Jitsu if you are looking to learn Jiu Jitsu!

Native BJJ is absolutely fantastic! Whether you’re a kid or an adult, this place feels like family. While they do emphasize competitiveness, it’s never at the expense of respect or a positive environment. Kids are treated with care and pushed in a healthy, supportive way to challenge themselves and grow. Adults of all ages and skill levels are welcome, and the coaches do a great job accommodating everyone to ensure safe and effective training…no need to worry about injuries. Coaches Carlos, Papagaio, Felipe, Aaron, Jake and the entire team are truly outstanding. Their passion and dedication make all the difference. I highly recommend Native BJJ to anyone looking for a strong, respectful, and inspiring martial arts community!

We tried Native because we were looking for something for the kids to do during the winter between sports seasons. Seven months later we are here five days a week and my kids never want to miss a day. The schedule lets parents attend class at the same time as their kids. A lot of parents sign their kids up for activities but don’t make time for themselves and this is a perfect way to have protected, built in workouts in your schedule. The gym is incredibly welcoming- any worries you have about not knowing how to start or not knowing what you’re doing will disappear as soon as you come for your first day. I had never done any kind of martial arts or wrestling before. Also- This is an especially welcoming and safe environment for women whether you join the regular classes or women’s only classes. I have seen my kids grow confidence and discipline and find a passion for self Improvement like I have never seen in them before. They have quickly made close friends at the gym that they look forward to seeing everyday. We also have a new hobby to share, talk about and practice together.

I would give this facility and coaches 10 stars if that was an option. The coaches inspire these kids and teens to do amazing things. The environment is not cut throat and all of the kids work together to improve each other. It's such a great atmosphere for my teen. Highly recommend. They offer young kid, kid, teen, and adult gi and no gi classes and also offer wrestling. Highly recommend trying it out.

I didn’t start Jiu-Jitsu until I was 40—way past the point most people think about rolling around on mats. But then I walked into Native Jiu-Jitsu in Maryland, and everything changed. The atmosphere? Welcoming, no egos. The instructors? Top-tier, with a knack for breaking down complex moves into something that clicks. What started as a curiosity quickly became a life-altering obsession. The fitness, the focus, the mental clarity—it’s all there. If you think you’re too old to start, think again. Native Jiu-Jitsu is proof that it’s never too late. Five stars.

Best deal for youth sport class in Montgomery county. You get three days, an hour each, plus an optional 4th day, a week. When preparing for a competition, you get another two optional days for a total of 6 days. 😀 Every other youth sports class in the area gets you one class a week in under an hour each. ☹️ Deal gets even better with an amazing atmosphere, member community, and high quality and respectful instructors that leave a positive impact in the lives of the students.🤩 Come check it out. I have searched and looked for Jiujitsu class for my children around Bethesda, Sliver Spring and Rockville areas.(everywhere) ブラジリアン柔術お子様達のアフタースクールのスポーツをお考えの親子さんへ With no doubt Nativa Jiujitsu is the most heart warming/ family and students oriented place. The best Jiujitsu classes offered in Maryland with best facility. You would not want to leave once you see/ feel how welcoming and nice they are. Nativa Jiujitsu’s program (classes) are so well planned .it is not like watch this and do this. They are hand on, teach the children step by step. Coach Carols / owner is so affectionate/ determined to teach children with patience not only Jiujitsu techniques but, also teaches how to have disciplines on and off mat. All the coaches are very kind and friendly. The classes are taught in small groups by several coaches which gives attention to all the students to learn which I am very please and happy with. 2 waiting rooms There are 1 waiting area for parents/ with tables and chairs ( which parents can bring their laptops to work * have water dispenser and coffee ,too ) yey!! 1 waiting room for small children( they have TV which children can watch while waiting the siblings who are taking classes) Bathrooms and Changing room are very clean. ( Jiujitsu classes ) Nativa Jiujitsu does really care about their students and their family which I fell in love with and decided to enroll my children. They do offer adult classes as well which I am planning to take in the future. If you ask me what makes Nativa so special comparing with others ? They “ care about inner side of the children “ by building up the children’s confidence . Such as by offering in / out house tournaments and furthermore they gives us the opportunity for us parents to see and support the our children’s strength( in and outside of mat ) For after school activities: This is the best Jiujitsu experience/ class in Maryland! Nativa Jiujitsu is the best! Highly recommended with 5 stars.🌟 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️and millions 待合室( 大人用)・(幼いお子様用)と分かれていて、大人用には、セルフサービスのコーヒーやお水なども、お子様用には、遊べるスペースもありテレビまで設置されていて、とってもファミリーフレンドリーです。お手洗いとチェンジングルームも、とっても清潔・綺麗です。アフタースクールスポーツや(お子様3歳から大人まで)スポーツをお探しの方はNative jiujitsu をお勧めします。

Our two kids (10 and 7) started practicing BJJ at Native in March 2023 with Coach Carlos and Gabe and they absolutely love it. Native is really all you can wish for your kids when learning a martial art -- solid BJJ techniques, a respectful and kind teaching environment and a friendly community among other families. Our kids look forward to practice every time and have made good friends in their class. The coaches are fantastic with kids, they keep them excited about the sport, make each class fun yet also maintain a healthy level of discipline and respect (e.g. pay attention, no swear words in and out of class, etc). This really shows as all Native kids are very respectful and kind with each other, especially towards newcomers. At the same time, the competitive spirit is also curated, our kids have participated in some BJJ competitions across the East Coast in the past months. The kids won a few medals, thanks to their BJJ skills, but mainly because the coaches go out of their way to coach and support the kids during the fights in competitions. This is important as it's not only a physical challenge but often also a mental and emotional challenge to manage persistence, winning and losing. Having a trustworthy, caring coach is absolutely crucial here, and Carlos, Gabe (and many of the other teen and adult Native students who often help out) are doing a great job. It's not easy to identify all these characteristics in a martial arts dojo, but we're very grateful we found all of it in Native!!

The professors provide clear and concise instruction, and are very patient with beginners (specially small and big kids).
