  Having trained a range of traditional martial arts in China, South Korea, and Southeast Asia over the last 15 years, a couple of years ago I decided to take up BJJ to give myself a new challenge. I did a lot of research on different gyms around Sydney, considering quality of teaching, environment and location. I settled on MonstarZen, and am still training several times a week almost two years later. I now train both BJJ and kickboxing. Giorgio's BJJ is second-to-none. His connection, understanding of mechanics and positioning are excellent, and he conveys this in a clear, structured manner, meaning that students are able to see improvements in their Jiujitsu in a short time. Christian's kickboxing classes are also top quality. Unlike many gyms who only focus on fitness/cardio (that is still an important component of training with him), Christian clearly explains the correct way to move the body to generate power, connect combinations together and also the underlying strategies. I'd also like to point out the amazing environment that owners Christian and Sarah have cultivated. MonstarZen is a place where both beginners and advanced students are made to feel welcome, and everybody is supportive of each other. The positivity is infectious, and I always leave training with a huge buzz. To summarise, I'd say that no matter whether you are a total beginner, or a seasoned martial artist, MonstarZen offers top quality training in a great environment.

  The most welcoming martial arts gym! Very technique focused but in a relaxed and fun environment. Have definitely heard Jack Johnson playing in the background while rolling. Brownie points to Christian for always making sure the gym is spotless as well.

  Newbie popping into Sydney for a few days. Christian was a brilliant BJJ instructor , will 100% stop by again for some more good rolls!

  My partner is stuck with me, but gyms are not. For me to keep coming back to this gym shows how good the quality of trainers are. I have been boxing for 3 years and Muay Thai for 6. Monstar has alot to offer in terms of skills and technique. I am honored to be trained by very dedicated and caring trainers in Monstar, and I highly recommend you begin your relationship with this gym. 👍🏻👍🏻

  Wanted to give 10 stars but Google only allowed 5, maybe they should join MonstarZen so they can push past their limits! High level of teaching quality by Christian from his many years of fighting experience and knowledge in martial arts! No brainer recommendation for anyone thinking about joining , no matter what level of experience you are you will feel welcome by the team!
