When you’ve been “fighting battles” your whole life, you learn to adapt and sometimes, even learn to love the fight.
So I’ve always liked fighting, but I never had a true passion for it. I was never the biggest guy in the room, and because of that, I never took combat or martial arts training seriously. That changed when I discovered grappling specifically Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) where you can use ground fighting, positional control, and leverage to overcome bigger, stronger opponents.
I tried a few BJJ classes at another gym before realizing that not only did I have a passion for BJJ, but I also wanted to train in more community-based environment that offers a mixed variety of martial arts disciplines all in one place.
That’s when I found Modern Warrior. I was a bit nervous at first since I’m a beginner in all martial arts, but after joining last week, the Modern Warrior community has been incredibly welcoming and has given me a safe space where I truly feel like I belong.
The dojo is clean, respectful, friendly, and full of passion for what they do, and it really shows.
I don’t usually write reviews or give recommendations, but I’d definitely recommend this dojo to anyone interested in martial arts.
Thank you Sasha, Cody, Jason, Keith, & the rest of the Modern Warrior team & community. looking forward to seeing you all again. Osu!
