I trained for 2 years at Maverick. You will truly get the best training around Huntsville and in Alabama. The facility is spotless at all times and the expected hygiene standards are always upkept. Maverick offers a variety of classes that allowed me to train at flexible times, as my schedule changed often. This is a family owned gym and the owners are all blackbelts. They do this for a living. So whether you're looking to compete - you will always have a coach in your corner. Or you just want to train casually - you will always have a knowledgeable coach. I helped teach kids classes for a time and the kids program is ran top notch with every kid getting the attention they deserve. I owe a lot of growth and development to Maverick Training center and hope all others who step on those mats experience what I did.

Suzanne Evan and Julia are people I have known and maintained friendship with for 16 years and are some of the most caring and passionate coaches and students of martial arts I’ve ever met in my life. They genuinely care about helping you reach your goals whatever they may be competing, general fitness/healthier lifestyle. As a veteran I can tell you they are very invested in the community they are a part of and do as much as they are able to provide a safe location for all levels of students to learn and feel welcome and included in the group, it really is like a family vibe here. Everyone supports one another. This is the only place I would train personally.

As a visitor to the area and to Maverick, I was warmly welcomed by Professor Suzanne, her coaches, and her students. I can't speak highly enough about the quality of instruction I received from Professor Evan, and all of the students I met and trained with were excellent training partners. As a long-time practitioner, I would recommend this school to anyone of any age or experience level whose looking for a fun, safe environment where they can train and grow.

Maverick is a fantastic place to train. The mats are kept clean throughout the day, the technique and instruction is incredible, and gym culture is very family oriented - never any drama. I did a trial class when I moved to Huntsville after trying several other places in town and never looked back. I have, however, been training here for two years and I don't think anyone knows my real name.

I have been training Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai at Maverick Training Center since Oct 2022 and I am thankful to have found this place. The gym has a warm and welcoming presence. All of the instructors are professional and extremely competent in their craft. They maintain the cleanest gym that I have ever seen. They offer a variety of different kids and adult classes to choose from. Have found the other gym members to be level-headed rad people that range all ages. If you are interested in learning BJJ or Mauy Thai, either to be competitive, learn self defense, for fitness, or just to have some fun then I highly recommend Maverick.

Highly recommend as the best gym in town (arguably state as well). First off, all the professors are professional both in attitude and technique. Whether it’s a basics instructor advance instructor, or Muay Thai. As a new guest you will always feel welcome, even if you decide to try out the earliest morning class (6am). The entire facility is spotless and clean. And the best part is the location with it being located in heart of downtown 👍

I’ve been going to the Muay Thai classes here for about 4 months now and have had an absolutely stellar experience. Julia and Suzanne are both great and all the other more experienced people are very helpful. I would absolutely recommend taking classes here!

This gym is well worth a visit. I travel regularly for work and hate taking training breaks, so I've been to a lot of gyms. This one is one of the nicest I've ever been to. It's owned by a female black belt; her two kids are also blackbelts and they teach many of the classes. Talk about a talented family! Other students here are very friendly, everyone is mellow, and the instructors' style is very smooth. The place is spotless and organized with a lot of mat space. They do a lot to make people feel welcome, including offering coffee(!) at the morning classes. If I lived in town, I'd sign up at this place in a heartbeat.

I have been training at Maverick for several years. The instruction from the many black belts and upper belts is great and the classes are welcoming. There’s a bunch of classes (early morning, midday, evening) every week so I get to fit in some training around family and work schedules. BJJ and MT have been great fun and provide a lot of physical and mental benefits. I’m in my forties and training got me into the best shape of my life.

Stopped in for a Nogi class and enjoyed the instruction and training. People were friendly and the facility was very clean. It also has showers. I will visit when I am in the area again.

Excellent facility. Clean, we'll equipped and surprisingly downtown location. Take the stairs to get loosened up! Owners and staff are super helpful with a good vibe from the other clients. I'll end by repeating ... clean facility.

The owner maintains a welcoming family friendly atmosphere. The instruction I have received has been top notch. As a martial arts enthusiast (not expert) I train as often as time/money allow and have studied at schools in Cleveland OH, Baltimore MD, Cocoa FL and now Huntsville. I guarantee Maverick Training Center will help you get the most out of the effort you put in. The best endorsement I can think to give is that not only have I enrolled myself but my daughter as well.

My child and I have been training at Maverick for 7 months. I have trained with other studios in the area and no other offers the amount of classes per week for the price point as Maverick. If my schedule permitted I could train BJJ 11 times a week. That doesn't include the two intermediate classes offered to blue belts and higher. That is a lot of training and the students that take advantage of it improve a lot faster than those who cannot. It is not the traditional bow to the teacher environment but it also isn't full of meat heads trying to hurt their training partner. I haven't been this fit for 15 years and truly enjoy the lean fighting physique I've gained while training. I've noticed much better balance and body awareness in my child after only a few months training. I am hoping it will be a part of their life for many years to come as it is excellent exercise and life practical. If you're looking to get a lot of training at a reasonable price this is the place. If you are looking for strict "bow to sensei," training this is not for you. I have gotten as much out of it as I've put into and am very pleased with the knowledge and progress I've made.

Enrolled our 8 year old son there for the past 6 months. We have seen improvement in his strength and confidence. The gym does there best to provide a family atmosphere and keeps it light and fun while reminding the kids that they are there to train.

THEY DO NOT HAVE KIDS BOXING even tho some of the reviews say they have worked with their kids they do not and the lady answering the phone acted like I offended her by asking if they train kids when their ad on google says they do very rude

Unwelcome to outsiders, unsafe training environment. Overly aggressive students. I received an injury from the BJJ coach as an out of town visitor last year and still have knee pains today because of it. I would recommend 10th Planet or Gracie Barra for the Huntsville area. You will get much better pricing, higher quality coaching, and will most importantly have a safe place to train.

Very shady business ethics. I tried to pay for one month worth with cash in hand but was told it must be with a card. I let them charge my card after telling the owner I wanted to try it for one month. I stopped going halfway through the month and the start of the next month I noticed my card was charged again. This was an unauthorized charge. I sent the owner an email restating I had only wanted to try it for a month, and kindly asked them to remove the charge, to which they said I needed to have canceled a month in advance. When signing up I had made it clear I only wanted to go for one month to try it and decide later about continuing. This is at the least very poor business and bordering theft by deception.
