I would recommend Maven BJJ to anyone who is interested in Brazilian JiuJitsu and wants to learn from a really well respected and fantastic coach. I have known Dan since 2011 and would say that you will be very well looked after whether you are a beginner through to very advanced. I have trained at Dan's a few times and the atmosphere and wide range of students speak for themselves.
Posted 4 months agoMaven BJJ is truly a gem! From the moment you walk through the doors, you're welcomed into an incredibly friendly and supportive environment. Dan and the coaches are not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also approachable and patient, making it the perfect place for practitioners of all levels. The instruction here is top-notch, with a focus on technique and real-world application. Classes are structured and engaging, and the coaches go above and beyond to ensure that everyone progresses at their own pace while still being challenged. Whether you're looking to improve your skills, get in shape, or just join a great group of people, Maven BJJ is the place to be. Highly recommend!
Posted 5 months agoMy 5 year old Zaccy loves this place. He ask’s if it’s JuJitsu every day after school 😀 Dan is such a nice guy. A gentle giant of a man - the entire academy is a reflection of him. It’s friendly and welcoming. I cannot recommend it enough.
Posted 5 months agoI've been incredibly impressed with the academy over the past year, watching both my daughters grow not only in their BJJ skills but also as more resilient, confident little people. The classes are thoughtfully structured, blending fun, technique, and playful sparring in a way that keeps them engaged while building discipline. As a parent, it’s been especially meaningful to see strong female instructors who serve as wonderful role models for my daughters. On a personal note, my own training has led to noticeable improvements in how I handle stress and challenging situations. This academy fosters growth, both physically and mentally, in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Posted 5 months agoI would highly recommend Maven for jui jitsu. The teaching quality is excellent. The teachers are very welcoming and for beginners they explain everything you need to know. There are a range of classes from beginners (with others who don’t know what they are doing like me) up to advanced. Classes are also spread over day times and evenings/weekends. I’m well into my 40s so age is no bar! What is especially great is the community. The other more advanced guys will all help you learn and pass on their knowledge so you aren’t just learning from the teachers. It takes a bit of getting used to the close body contact at first but it’s a great cardio and muscle workout. I don’t bother with gym (time) anymore as the jui jitsu classes keep me fit enough. I’ve now been training here for over two years now and would recommend it to anyone thinking of trying a martial art or trying to get fit.
