I went into my first class knowing less than nothing about jiu-jitsu. Everyone was very welcoming and patient with me. I have fallen in love with the discipline. I actually signed a two year contract because I cannot imagine NOT going to class at this point.

Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu is a fantastic life skill. There isn't enough room for me to write my positive experiences here. My two boys started training here about 4 years ago. Their confidence has gone through the roof which has created great students at life! My wife started training self-defense and beginner classes soon after. I, myself, got healthy enough to jump in at age 40. That was 2 years ago. We all still train whenever possible. Saying the professors are incredibly knowledgable would be an understatement. Came here on recommendation for learning BJJ. Fantastic experience! The professors are knowledgeable, humble, traditional. The lessons are easy to pick up, and the rolling is fantastic exercise. They offer no-gi, gi, and self defense classes throughout most mornings. Just like with a gym, everyone attending is there to learn and train, I didn't feel any shame or scrutiny for being out of shape, and was encouraged to excellence the whole time I was there. After rolling the professors and higher belts always volunteer to clean and maintain the mats, and the space is always immaculate.
I have trained at a lot of dojos over my 10 years on and off the mats. When I left Houston, leaving my home dojo, I never thought I would find an academy that felt like home again. After joining and leaving several schools, I found the Marra Senki Academy. These are my people....my tribe. My morning crew takes care of each other and are more than just training partners.

The professors at Marra Senki BJJ are experienced in the craft and skilled at sharing that knowledge with their students. I learned so much even on my first day. The other students were patient with me and helped me feel part of the team from the very beginning. The material is very practical for self defense—especially for women.

I've been training here for 1.5 years. From day one everyone was great! Students are respectful to one another and the professors break down the techniques to your level of experience. We learn self-defense in addition to the well known sport of jujitsu. Equally important I get a great workout! I was 195 when I started. After four months of consistent training I lost 23 lbs. I've been able to maintain my weight ever since. If you're interested in trying out a class give Marra Senki a try; you won't be disappointed!
I’ve been training here for almost about a year now I believe. This is the best place to learn bjj for self-defense, sport, fitness, to boost your confidence, or all the above. Nice clean gym, and very professional. The professors are all highly skilled, super patient, knowledgeable, and truly help you improve your skills to be best you can be in, and outside of the gym. Everyone is always welcoming, and friendly. Excellent environment for people of all backgrounds, families, small kids, teenagers, young adults, and older ones as well. There is no discrimination, or favoritism, and people of all backgrounds are welcomed here. You will quickly build relationships with your training partners, and even the professors as well. Also the gym has great instructors, and assistants who know what they are doing. Everyone tries their best to train safely to avoid injuries as much as possible. There are multiple classes through out the day, and week, for self-defense, gi, no gi, beginners, intermediate, and advanced classes. There are classes early in the morning, afternoon, and evening so no matter how busy your schedule may be you can find a time that works best for you. As a young man this is one of, if not, the best investments I’ve made in my life thus far. The owner is a 7x World champion, mma fighter, and 9degree bjj black belt who is also a professor that will teach you himself. Prices are fair, and you get what you pay for which is learning high quality martial arts with solid fundamentals that isn’t watered down by any means, and much more at this gym.

Looking to start a new hobby, getting in shape or just being able to defend yourself, look no further. Marra is the best of the best when it comes to a jiu jitsu gym. They’ve been around forever if not the first jiu jitsu gym in San Antonio and it shows. Super clean and structured with multiple classes throughout the day from 6am to 8pm, self defense to combat jiu jitsu. There’s something for everybody So there’s no excuse not to train here. They even have a separate class for beginners. A pro fighter and twenty five year black belt Professor Marra has tons of knowledge and experience. He himself teaches multiple classes throughout the week and is hands on and truly passionate about his gym being the best. If he’s not teaching it’s someone directly under him which is hard to find these days. Fair rates and awesome people from all different backgrounds and lifestyles. I can’t say enough about this place and how it’s truly changed my life and made me a better person!!
My dad came here long ago and now my daughter is enrolled and we love coming here every instructor is so so so nice and trustworthy and welcoming and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. It’s also very clean and so nice and spacious. My daughter looks forward to her classes every single week!

They also give discounts for military, first responders, and LEO. They also offer several classes per day (3-4) so you have lots of options to choose from depending on your schedule. I am glad I found this academy. Starting BJJ later in life seemed daunting, but I was happy to find a place where I was welcome. Everyone has been very helpful and I have found great training partners. The instructors are patient and explain the moves in great detail.

Great Class Schedule- Allows for multiple training opportunities with flexible times. Instruction is well planned, well designed, and each class builds on each other. Allowing for students to learn linearly. They work with ALL students and levels. Meeting them right where they are at and making them better than when they walked through the doors. In addition to highly competent Instructors, the colored belts are highly skilled and willing to help develop the white belts.

I really enjoyed my free first class here so I signed up about three weeks ago. There are fundamental classes early in the morning and evenings every week days so I can always find classes to attend and practice BJJ to fit my schedule. And I also have been enjoying No gi and self defense classes as well. Professors are very respectful towards the art of BJJ and give respect and knowledge to the students. I have been really enjoying learning the art and self defense from all the professors here and also from other students who are always willing to help share and grow together in BJJ while having tons of fun. Two thumbs up!!!

Having little experience, I knew I wanted to continue my journey. I visited 8 schools and as a female this place fit well for me. My teammates have lifted me up when it has been a hard journey. The encouragement at Marra Senki is priceless. It's an individual journey but you are not alone. The Marra Senki crew will never make it hard on you. Professor Marra and Coach R are great at what they do. They take care of you. Professor Marra's kids class is safe as it can get. He individually supervises the kid's grappling. That sold me. This place is also straightforward with the prices love that. There is no pressure or sales pitch.

Professor Sergio "Marra" Correa is a 5 stripe black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and self defense, 7- time world champion, Abu Dhabi champion and a black belt in Judo. He has over 25 years of BJJ, MMA and self defense experience. He is also a very nice person with a young son of his own who trains. I started here in the Spring of '09 and wouldn't want to train anywhere else. Highly recommend!

Great people. Everyone at the class helps to develop your Jiu Jitsu positions. The free class is if you are new to Jiu Jitsu and want to try it out- there is a drop in fee just like a gym if you are going to train for a day.
