Wow, the environment here is tremendously welcoming. This place is affordable, it’s about $30-50 less than what I’d find other gyms cost. They offer a few free classes, open mats, and a month to month no obligation payment option. They’re receptive to an individual’s goals. When I first started I was blanking sometimes on what to do next or what would stop me from passing someone’s guard or taking the back. The coaches and owner there have given me incredible feedback that so far works incredibly fast and the more I go to class. Going to class is easy. I can choose to be quiet and antisocial or talk and make friends. They seem happy to see me as I am to see them. Anyways, I’m grateful to be apart of a team here.
Posted 1 year agoWe’ve absolutely loved our past year at Mako BJJ. It’s been an incredible experience for our whole family, and it’s bittersweet to say goodbye for now — but we will definitely be back! The coaches have been amazing — not just in the adult classes, but especially in their care, guidance, and dedication to the kids’ program. We wanted our children to learn discipline, structure, and humility, and Mako delivered that in the best way possible. The coaches foster a respectful, supportive environment where bullying is simply not tolerated. It’s been wonderful watching our kids grow more confident and grounded. Thank you, Mako BJJ, for everything. Until next time!
Posted 1 year agoI trained at Mako for well over a year and saw the biggest growth in my Jiujitsu. Chris and the morning crew provide the highest level of training. Chris is an excellent instructor and the mats are always packed with high level colored belts. I have never trained at a better 6am class having been a member of 6 different gyms over the years and dropping in to dozens more. It is a safe, clean, drama free gym were you are guaranteed to improve your Jiujitsu. If you are in the Tucson area there is no place better.
Posted 1 year agoBoth my husband and my son train here, and the experience has been nothing short of incredible. The coaches are not only highly skilled, but they’re also patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in each student’s growth. There’s a strong sense of community and respect that you feel the moment you walk in. My son looks forward to every class, and it’s been amazing to watch his confidence and discipline grow. My husband loves the challenge and camaraderie. This isn’t just a gym…it’s a place where people come to better themselves and be supported by a great team. We’re so grateful to be part of the Mako family!
Posted 1 year agoGreat gym, great coaches, people, and facility. Amazing kids program coach Mike and coach Ivan are great with the kids. My nieces were nervous at first but felt safe and had a blast on their first class. Great Friday night class for the adults as well I love dropping in when I can, thanks Mike!
My family and I trained jiu jitsu in Tucson for several years now. We joined Mako last June and wished we had trained at Mako sooner. Every coach is genuinely attentive to their students. Coach Mike and Coach Ivan are outstanding people and have welcomed my family and me from day one. Mats are spacious and clean. It is a drama-free environment. Everyone is nice and friendly. We love training here!
Mako BJJ is a fantastic gym. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and have a way of breaking down techniques that makes everything click, no matter your experience level. The facility is always SPOTLESS. The community at Mako is what really sets it apart. Everyone is friendly, respectful, and genuinely fun to train with. The atmosphere is focused but laid-back, making it easy to enjoy every class and roll. It’s a place where you can train hard, learn a ton, and feel like part of a team. VERY beginner friendly also, felt extremely welcomed from the start.
Both my sons go here and they love it. All the coaches have years of experience and implementing the skills with the kids is a seamless effort. Don't get me started on the adult classes. I wouldn't want them training at any other gym. Mako is our home!
Very welcoming academy, came by on my vacations, and received amazing technique and good rolls. Everyone is cool and nice in the team!!
Mako has been my jiu-jitsu home for 5+ years now. Fantastic lineup of instructors and classes. Any time of the day, any day of the week, gi or no-gi. Hands down the best place to train in town. Whether you are just starting your jiu-jitsu journey, are a seasoned hobbyist, or an active competitor - you'll get the instruction and training partners you need to elevate your game and have fun.
I recently had the opportunity to train at Mako Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing in Tucson, Arizona, and it was an incredible experience for a first-timer like me. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, making it easy to feel comfortable right away. The instructor were knowledgeable and passionate, providing clear guidance. I appreciated the structured class that balanced technique with sparring, allowing me to learn at a steady pace. The sense of community among people added to the positive vibe; everyone was supportive and eager to help each other improve. I left feeling accomplished and excited to come back and try jiu jitsu next! Mako is a fantastic place to start your martial arts journey, and I can't recommend it enough!
Increíbles instalaciones, la academia está impecable, tiene vestidores muy amplios y su gente es muy amable y con amplio conocimiento, me sentí como en casa
I’ve been at Mako two and a half years; I love the community Mike & Ivan have built, and my game has improved tremendously compared to the six years of off-and-on training I did prior to that. There are competitors and hobbyists, everyone blends. Very happy to find this gym/tribe.
Great, friendly rolls. Safe, clean, with excellent vibes overall. Great spot to visit or train long term
I have been training at Mako for 5 years. I have always felt safe and welcomed at mako, and have made some of the most incredible friends. The vibe is drama free, the training is top notch, and the partners are disciplined; each with a little different style that keeps you on your toes. Safety and hygiene are routinely addressed to keep our environment clean and our injuries minimal. Mike and Ivan have done an incredible job creating a culture of fun, safety, mental/physical discipline, and technical Jiu jitsu with a variety of instructors that routinely coach. You won’t regret dropping in:)
Such an awesome gym! All the coaches are great and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is pleasant. My kiddos are taking a break but want to come back in the future they loved it there!
Amazing gym culture, professional instructors and awesome submissions using the wall
I trained at Mako while I was in Tucson from out of state. I visited the gym on a Saturday for an open mat. The facility was clean and well lit, with a small dressing area and a bathroom. My rolls were relatively gentle, Nobody I rolled with was trying to show me how good he was by trying to put the hurt to me. It was a pleasant atmosphere, where training partners tried to help one another learn. Watching others on the mat, it was clear that this was a gym where crisp, technical moves were the norm, and I didn't see anyone muscling a smaller opponent. I'd recommend Mako either for a drop-in like me, or for a student looking for a place to train regularly.
Excellent for the entire family. Great kids classes, adult and competitive.
I am in Tucson for a work trip and dropped in to Mako for their nogi Tuesday night class. All of the guys were extremely respectful and welcoming. They obviously have a good culture without ego. Thanks again for the rolls! Looking forward to next time!
Traveled in for work. Contacted 3 gyms. 2 no responses to voicemails left. Mike picked up immediately and allowed me to come train for a few weeks. He has an incredible team, and an addictive atmosphere. Everyone is willing to improve each other's game. Tuesday is wrestling, adds huge layers to the game and your cardio. Can't wait to come back and roll with everyone again. Thank you professor!
Visiting town for work for a few weeks and was recommend by a friend. The culture is awesome-people are welcoming, humble, and everyone wants to help everyone else get better. Instructor Chris and the morning crew were great! Definitely recommend this facility to anyone dropping in town!
I was in Tuscan for work, and after reading the reviews, I decided to call. Mike picked up right away, and he was very welcoming and accommodating. You never know how it's going to go when visiting a school, but this has been my best experience so far. Gerald, was teaching and he was great. The students were welcoming and friendly. If you're visiting pass by and if you live close by it's a no-brainer. Try it out, and you too will be writing a glowing review.
Great place to train!
I went to this dojo thinking they trained karate. Turns out they do Mexican Ground Wrastlin’… or as others would call it “Jiu-Jitsu.” I was really looking forward to smashing boards and cracking skulls like in the 1988 American classic movie, Bloodsport, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Instead we did these things called “shrimps.” After the warm up we learned how to choke a man unconscious with his OWN attire. That’s when I was like “hell yeah.” So I signed up. Best choice I ever made.
Dropped in at this gym last week while visiting Tucson and it is every bit as good as the previous 127 five star reviews on here. EXCELLENT instruction in both the fundamentals and advanced class - I took away so many of those small details that make such a big difference. Lots of great training partners that make you feel welcome and challenge you at the same time. A great place to drop in and an even better place to train full time!
Family was passing through Tucsan, and my wife and I dropped in for a Wednesday night class. GREAT environment and very welcoming. I would train here agian any day.
Training at Mako Jiu-Jitsu every winter is an absolute blast! It's an incredible place with awesome vibes. The rolls are top-notch, and the folks there are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a fantastic training experience!"
MAKO is an excellent location to facilitate both physical and mental growth for adults and children. The level of knowledge the staff possesses is incredible. Highly recommend MAKO
My kids love it. The instructors are great. I look forward to starting myself. Update: I started myself and I love it too. The community here is amazing! The shared knowledge, world class black belts and intergration with wrestling makes Mako fun challenging, and always keeps you progressing.
Me and my little family started in around may/june 2023. Coming from another gym, we were welcomed with open arms. And felt right at home the coaches made sure of that. My son is in the kids class and loves being there. Kids class is growing and has so many talented kids. Ages ranging from 4-15 yrs. I started in august 2023 and although there isn’t many women in class the girls who I’ve made friends with are amazing and I feel like part of the family! I 💯 percent recommend this academy! 🖤
Visited the gym while In Tucson great place to train highly recommend it !!
From out of town and dropped in for a class. I was treated like family. Great environment for training and will return in the future.
A very welcoming and fun environment. It was my first time trying BJJ and the instructors made me feel at ease. Definitely going again!
This is an amazing place to learn Jiu jitsu with great instructors. Perfect for fitness, self defense and being part of a BJJ community.
great people and incredible technique all the time. A wonderful place for people across the board.
Highly recommended all the coaches (especially coach Mike and coach Ivan) are amazing people everyone is very nice and it feels nice to talk and get to know everyone there you should try it, it is very welcoming in the gym and I love it I hope you do too
My kid is so happy she wants to go here and may like it I said it was not gonna be easy she didn’t care 🥋
I was in Tucson from out of town and i reached out to Ivan who showed great hospitality while i visited Mako BJJ. Everyone on the mats was very friendly and training was great! Will definitely look to visit them again.
Mako BJJ is a fantastic school. My family and I were going to be in Tucson for about a month and I was looking for a school so that my kids could keep up their skills while they were away from their regular BJJ school. I also wanted to take classes myself as I just recently began my own journey in BJJ. I read tons of reviews for BJJ schools in Tucson and ultimately called Mako because of their amazing reviews and the fact that many of those great reviews were from other visiting students looking for a place to train while in Tucson. Well, I called Mako and my call was answered by Mike, the lead instructor at the school. He was super friendly, helpful and encouraging. When we finally arrived in Tucson, both my kids and I attended a handful of classes. Everyone we met at Mako was extremely friendly and welcoming. The instructors are all top notch and really great at what they do. My kids really loved Coach Ivan in their kids’ classes. My own personal highlight was getting to roll with Coach Mike himself, which I truly appreciated and was a cool, humbling and enlightening experience. I only wish we had time to attend more classes, but our schedule was pretty full. We have family in Tucson and it’s nice to know we have such a high quality and welcoming place to train when we visit.
Amazing coaches and amazing Teammates
Love this gym. This is my go-to gym when I visit Tucson. The coaches are patient, helpful and fun in both the kids classes and the adult classes. The students and staff are super inviting and welcoming! Plus, they show some real nifty techniques 😍
If I could give 10 stars for Mako, I without a doubt would!! My son started his jiu-jitsu path in Colorado and we absolutely loved his coach and gym there. We moved to AZ and I was dreading having to find a new gym and starting all over. We toured and watched a class at two gyms prior to finding Mako. Leaving both feeling very disappointed that nothing would compare to his old gym, we decided to give one more gym a chance before making our decision. And hallelujah we did!!!! The moment we stepped into Mako it felt like home. We watched a class then immediately signed up!!! It was the best decision ever. The coaches are SOOOOO incredible with the kids. They provide just the right amount of discipline, fun, encouragement, and knowledge. Stop searching and join Mako today!!! You will not be disappointed! We found our jiu-jitsu family and will be forever grateful!!! You will be too!
I had been wanting to get my son in BJJ but none of the gyms were a good fit until we visited Mako. Coach Ivan and his staff have been amazing and accommodated my sons sensory needs.
I was recently in Tucson over the 4th of July weekend and was dying to get some training in. I looked up bjj gyms and found Mako 5 minutes from where I was staying. I dropped in to an open mat session and was greeted by Coach Ivan (co-owner). I was welcomed and shown great hospitality for two different training sessions. The members were super friendly and provided great training and rolls. It’s clear they’ve created and cultivate a healthy gym community for visitors, novices, and experienced bjj players can learn and train.
Ivan has been amazing during my time at mako. No better place!
I visited Mako BJJ while visiting from out of town. I contacted them and got a quick response back from Mike. He was very accommodating and welcomed me to drop in. I attended two classes the next day and I will be reaching out to them again next time I am in the area. Everyone on the mats was very friendly and many went out of their way to approach me and introduce themselves. Great competitive rolls, and the full spectrum of skill on the mat. If you're looking for a solid place to train that has a lot to offer, I highly recommend Mako.
Dropped in to train on a Monday and Wednesday night while I was in Tucson on business. They were very welcoming and provided a great training opportunity. I highly reccommend them, and I will be training here again whenever I am in Tucson.
Wonderful place to learn from great and knowledgeable coaches.
I stopped in as a traveler from out of town and could not of met nicer people. The professors teachings were amazing. Will happily return if I can.
I was visiting out of town and was looking for a school to train while on vacation in Tucson. I'm so happy I found MAKO. They welcomed me like one of their own, and I was able to train my entire stay. Even though I have been practicing bjj for a little over a year now, I learned so many new technique details from MAKO coaches in those three days. I am forever grateful. Vlatka
A tremendous place, easily one of the best I have been too while traveling. The Professors are talented, tough, and very supportive. Never had anyone who wouldn't take the time to work with me. This school is full of tough athletes who will roll at any pace with you, but also very humble and sociable people here. The price was also incredibly worth it, would recommend it highly!
I left my old gym for Mako and never looked back. Having zero martial arts experience, I was extremely insecure going in. However, Coach Mike and the rest of the team made me feel comfortable immediately. Not only did he personally bandage my feet after they got tore up rubbing against the mats, but he explained it happens to everyone when they first start coming and is essentially a “right of passage.” Each week, Mako brings in a variety of coaches to keep the flow of trainings changing so that even the coaches’ black belt skills are strengthened. My favorites are the advanced Wednesday courses Coach Heather teaches and the Friday half Gi/no Gi courses. It took me a while before I was ready to attend either of those, but I appreciated their preparation.
From the gym itself, the instructors, and the training partners, just an all around great place to train for kids and adults.
Awesome place to learn with great instructors
Hands down the best place to train at highly recommend!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
HIGHLY RECOMMEND- I am very new to BJJ. I’ve been wanting to get into it for years and didn’t find the confidence to go in. Finally I did and it’s the best decision I’ve made in a long time. Everyone is extremely friendly and cater to your experience, build and ability. I haven’t come across any egos or people that make me feel uncomfortable. The higher belts teach you as you train with them and the coaches are the nicest people with a wealth of knowledge. I’ve learnt so much in just a few weeks. Also, I’ve been active in the gym for the last 2 decades going daily and playing soccer twice a week. With that said, I’ve lost 10 pounds of stubborn fat training BJJ in just 3 weeks, so something is clearly working, all while I am distracted having fun. Thank you, Mako, Coach Mike, Coach Aaron, Ivan and everyone there I’ve met so far. - Reece
Fantastic
I joined Mako Jiu Jitsu a year ago and have enjoyed every single class I’ve taken. The instructors are patient and thorough, you really feel that they want you to succeed. In addition to being a very welcoming environment to all, the students of all levels are very kind and respectful especially to new people just starting out. In addition, as a woman in the sport I have found Mako to be a very welcoming and encouraging space to both build your Jiu Jitsu foundation and push yourself as a hobbiest or competitor. Overall, Mako is a great place to train, I highly recommend it.
I'm an older (over 40) female just getting into jiu jitsu, and I couldn't have picked a better gym. Coach Mike is welcoming and patient with all the new folks, and always makes sure they get a good intro and stay safe when they're rolling with the more rambunctious white belts or higher belts, and gives the new members one-on-one instruction when needed. I've met most of the other instructors, who are also fabulous and know their moves and how to teach them. The gym is welcoming to all kinds of folks, from small women to big dudes, and the members are also friendly and welcoming and helpful. Mako is also supportive to military and first responders, which is a nice bonus. I appreciate Coach Mike and Mako, and wouldn't go anywhere else.
Awesome instructor's and great classes. I've learned so much from everyone and I'm thankful that i get to train here.
Mako deserves nothing less than 5 stars. Everyone here is kind, and will treat you with respect. The female crowd is growing and we have a really great/friendly group that shows up consistently. People work hard here but also know how to make live rolling beneficial for newcomers. Besides that, Coach Mike and Aaron are badass black belts so come check it out.
Phenomenal place to learn BJJ! A fun and welcoming atmosphere to develop new skills with wonderful coaches and at a fantastic price. Thanks Māko!
I love this place. Mako has some of the best instructors in town. I always feel welcome when I come here.
my daughter has attended classes in the kids program and I love what Mike does with these kids. they learn real world wrestling and Bjj which is amazing for self defense. It amazes me seeing the kids work hard and develop the skills they do. This isn't show up and earn a belt. if you want your kids to really learn and develop a skill this is your place.
Great atmosphere, great colored belts and great location! Very friendly and welcoming gym. Would recommend to all 🤙🏽
I’m new to the game but absolutely love it and that is in no small part because of the coaches and other members. Training is great exercise and an even better confidence builder and I can’t wait for my kids to join.
Such an amazing school! The coaches are great at making sure that all the students are learning and following along within the instructions. Everybody is super friendly and no one throws around their ego. 5/5 recommended checking this school out!
I like training at Mako more than I like drinking beer. That's pretty substantial...
Great studio for the whole family ! Instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and friendly.
All coaches are patient, supportive and have a positive learning environment for kids! Highly recommend!
I trained all over the world including Japan and Europe. I know a good dojo when I see one and that’s why I bring my son here to train.
Outstanding BJJ gym. Exceptional value for a great price. Many available class times to meet your needs, excellent coaches with extensive experience. Welcoming environment.
My 5 year old son joined mako as an extracurricular activity to get him out of the house. After a few lessons it was so much fun that I joined the adult classes myself. We have been there for about a year. They have a ton of classes so scheduling is very convenient. And the cost is very affordable for all the hands on time you get with bjj black belts.
All three of my kids take classes and we love this gym. The coaches are fantastic, the learning environment is welcoming and I can see my kids growing. They focus not just on the skill of Jiu Jitsu, but also on the character of the kids. If you're looking for a Jiu Jitsu gym look no further!
Great place to learn the basics of Jiu Jitsu for young kids. Coach Mike is patient and cares about the kids well being.
Very good. The coaches are attentive and helpful. Especially with the large number of children attending. Would recommend this place to others for sure.
Was one of the most friendly open mats I ever been too. Every roll was great and the coach and whole team were super friendly would come back for sure.
I’ve wanted to take up Jiu Jitsu for a while, after finally deciding to go for it, I’m glad I chose Māko. The coaches at Māko clearly have a passion for the art, and they radiate it. It’s motivating. I’m new to the world of Jiu Jitsu, but I’m confident, that even with more experience, I’d be recommending Māko.
Mako Bjj is an excellent gym to train the grappling arts. Since I started there in June or July 2020 the experience has been amazing. Top notch instruction, lots of available times to train, great communication and safety especially in reguards to covid. Everyone that trains here brings the intensity without the ego. I tried a few other gyms around Tucson but when I stepped into Mako, i knew that was the place to be. On top of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, we also get Judo and Wrestling sessions in. I recommend Mako BJJ for anyone looking to push themselves mentally, physically and make new friends along the way.
Mako BJJ has been an amazing addition to my daughter’s training program. As a member of the USAJudo National Team, it’s been important to find a good outlet that helps Taylor continue to push herself. A safe and positive environment that helps her improve and advance her skill set, while allowing her to focus on her priorities. Mako has been just what she’s needed. The coaches have been beyond supportive and help guide her through the process and push her to be her best. Taking the time to listen to her questions and concerns... as she’s always trying to figure out ways to apply what she learns to judo. The other practitioners have been welcoming and positive... and show interest in her judo career as well. As a black belt, they welcome her knowledge and acknowledge her dedication and hard work, and they respect her as a black belt. They have given her a safe alternative to train, where she can enjoy learning and being a “newbie” again. This means so much, as i know she is safe and taken care of! She is now assisting as a coach! Knowing this club values the resources they have, as a parent this is outstanding and encouraging.. giving Taylor the opportunity to give back has made a huge difference for her as a competitor and as a person. We have traveled all over the country and have trained in many dojo’s and gyms.. this was the perfect fit. The culture and vibe they have created is amazing. I couldn’t be happier with the choice we made and couldn’t be more proud that we are part of the Mako family.
Professors Mike and Izzy are amazing and run a family friendly and inviting dojo that has something to offer everyone from the beginner casual student of BJJ to those seeking to compete at the highest level of BJJ.
One visit to this dojo and you'll realize that this place has a great all around vibe that feels like HOME. New member specials include instruction from not one but two black belts with a strong, proud, and reputable legacy to descend from. Conversations that I've enjoyed here made me realize that there are people from all walks of life at this dojo and our dreams and vision of creating a jiu-jitsu community are aligned with service and altruism as examples for generations to come. **new post! Did you know this dojo hosted a 4th degree black belt?! 😲 I have posted pics from a visit (Aug. 2019) from the revered very respected Samy Al Jamal from Jordan 🇯🇴
Been going for around 2 months and I love how inviting and professional they are with everyone including newer people. The coaches and extremely willing to help and the higher belts are always willing to help teach if you don't quite understand something.
This place is amazing! The instructors are very encouraging. My son always leaves with a smile. I love that all the parents at this gym are very welcoming.
My daughter loves Mako! She is growing into her skills and is becoming a stronger and kinder person because of their guidance and direction. As a mom I like that the price is incredible for all she gets, and I love that she is learning to defend herself in an environment that feels like home. Being a part of the Mako family is a gift to us.
We enrolled our youngest son in September of 2019. The coaches are great with the kids and very patient. It’s very family friendly and we are blessed to be a part of it! I highly recommend Mako to anyone looking for a positive and supportive outlet for their kiddos.
Didn't know anything going into Jiu Jitsu, but was immediately welcomed with kindness and patience. Instructors are amazing. Couldn't ask for a better place to roll!
A great family environment, and outstanding coaches and professors. My son is a crazy, wild boy. He ran around crazy. Now, he is focusing more and willing to do the work.
Top notch instructors with outstanding pedigrees. A very caring and structured environment with a wide variety of experienced training partners. Fantastic floating floor as well as a clean facility. Great place for everyone.
Was in town for a week and they welcomed me into their gym like family. Awesome instructors and great environment!!! 100% recommend!!!
MĀKO BJJ offers much more than the most talented coaches in the state. Having the ability to transfer that knowledge and ability to those ready and willing, makes it priceless.
I love training at Mako. There's a really relaxed yet professional atmosphere and the academy is always tidy. Mike and Izzy are passionate and friendly instructors and it always puts a smile on my face to see them. Love this place!
This is a great Jiu Jitsu academy! Both Professors and the other instructors are great teachers and everyone that attends classes are such great people! Highly recommend whether your looking to start a new journey or you’ve been training a while and you need a new home.
Coach Mike and Izzy are fantastic instructors. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the people are awesome. Extremely friendly to beginners. I tried a class and have been hooked since. Give it a try!
Mako BJJ and the coaches there have made such a positive impact on my three boys! I highly recommend this gym to all ages - kids and adults! The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly and it is clear that the owners have a deep love for instructing jiu jitsu. Just some of the many qualities - they care about each and every student and it shows; the class schedule is robust and inclusive; the instructors are consistent; there is a wide range of experienced and new practitioners; the prices are fair and reasonable.... I could go on and on. Stop by and try a class - you won’t be disappointed!
Mako is a great place to train located on the east side of Tucson. Great environment for families and kids to train. Many opens mats even for kids which I believe is the only one in town that provides it. Definitely worth checking out.
Strongly recommend Mako to anyone interested in becoming more physically fit, confident, and proficient in jiu jitsu. Mako professors are distinctly different in their jiu jitsu game but of one mind when it comes to promoting the positive spirit of the gentle art. Professors Mike and Izzy are devoted to their students’ development and success but also their safety, they’ve installed a floating floor under the mats which adds a layer of protection. The atmosphere is inviting and very family oriented.
Wish Mako jiujitsu was closer to me. I’ve personally trained with Professor Mike and he is an amazing teacher. I highly recommended training here
IF your looking to learn jiujitsu and don’t have any experience then you need to Walk in this Gym ASAP!!!! its Awesome and the Coaches like shark Mike/ Ismat are Humble and patient/Helpful with New people like myself I had a few weeks at another place and my experience wasn’t the best so I stopped. But when I found out about Mako opening up I set a day and walk in to a 6am class with shark Mike , it was Great everyone introduced themselves and shook my hand and class began and every since that Day I Been going. So once again if you looking to learn or have been doing it for a while and Need a new Gym then set a Day and Come on In.
Great instruction and training from a variety of Tucson's best jiu jitsu athletes. One of coach Mike's signature moves won me gold at my last tournament. Ismat is one of the the best kid's coaches in Tucson. Mixing discipline and patience, he makes little champions and I'm stoked to allow my son the opportunity to train with the team at Mako! Great community!
Great teachers, new and clean facility. These guys are veterans of Tucson's BJJ scene. Well respected, well established, with amazing coaches and seminars.
Mako BJJ is unlike any other place I have been apart of. All members have history with each other and have all came together to create a family orientated environment with no Jiu-Jitsu politics. The instruction you recieve here from multiple Black Belts with over 30+ years combined experience is incredible. Mike will always push you and fine tune your mistakes. Izzy will make your kids never want to leave the mat, and he is the best coach for them. Most fun you and your family will have!!!
Fantastic environment for kids and adults. Professors Izzy and Mike take special care to meet you or your kids where you are at and build from there. Highly recommend Mako BJJ!
