We've been at Gracie for several years. It's a great family environment where all are welcome. The kids' program promotes self-defense, confidence, and discipline. The adult classes are for all types, young and old, fit and just waning to stay active.

Gracie Barra has been a wonderful experience -- the instructors adjust the levels of instruction to match the students' experience and abilities. Besides the obvious benefits of learning self-defense and getting in shape, as a parent who is also participating, it has been a joy to be able to connect with my teen kids in a novel fashion as they grow into young adults.

Very welcoming community of professors and the amount of instruction given per class far surpasses other local schools. I appreciate the schedule offering both night and day classes as well as weekends and love that there are daily open mat times as well. I am happy I made the change to Gracie Barra Tucson, I recognized the talent in team members whom competed in tournaments I attended and knew Gracie Barra was the right choice. I look forward to achieving my BJJ goals with my teammates!

By far the best decision we have ever made for our son. From exercises, to learning how to be safe, and respectful. The professor and coaches are all so amazing, super Hands-on, and very eager to teach. They all have such amazing and positive attitudes every class. They even help when my son has shown listening or attitude problems at home. We always know we can turn to them like family. I have watched my son grow in so many ways in such a short amount of time thanks to Gracie Barra.

Love coming down to tucson for work and training with my gracie barra brothers. I train in Ahwatukee at gracie barra and get sent to tucson for work every now and again. When in town i always try to make a class or too. The coaches and professors are so awesome.

Wonderful place my daughter has been here for 2 years. She loves it. The coaches and professors are awesome! Great atmosphere tons of fun but also very structured ! Great balance of discipline and unity
My child does not want to miss a day of her training and she is about to be 6. She has been a part of it for a year and loves all she has learned!
They've done a wonderful job with my extremely active 6 year old, and have given him a wonderful outlet for all of his energy while gently teaching him discipline!
Outstanding program! My 4 year old has been in the Tiny Champions class for about 5 months. All of the coaches are very polite, helpful, hands on with the kids, and are able to explain the drills and exercises to them in a understandable and relatable way. The structure of warmups, learning a new technique, drilling the technique, and a fun game at the end is perfect and keeps the kids engaged throughout the entire class. My son is always excited and looking forward to his Thursday and Saturday classes!
All I expected and more, learned how quick all of the techniques are applied. This might be known as the Gentle Art, but there's nothing gentle once a submission is rapidly locked in. Love the Professor's
Very awesome place! Great teaching environment where the coaches put a lot of one-on-one time into the kids and ensure they are following rules/instructions. They’re great with the kids (my 4 year old attends but I’m sure they’re great with all students). They’re especially amazing at ensuring the students feel safe and are comfortable.
The professors, coaches, staff are good! They are very attentive and provide excellent training. My kids go here and it is so much fun to watch them.

Our 4 year old girl takes classes. The culture is great all the children are respectful and enjoy themselves. Wouldn't recommend for children under 3 1/2.

Gracie Barra is a fun and friendly place to bring your child, for them to learn discipline. My son really enjoys going to practice every time and we love watching him too.
Nothing bad about this buisness but beware of the barber shop next to them they allow their customers to damage other peoples vehicles in the parking lot, so be warned
My husband started on Wednesday August 31, 2022 and loves it. He just turned 62 and thought why not start jiu jitsu. Great group of people and a great starter program!
Top tier school with amazing coaches. Professor Enrique and Albert have been super helpful, as well as the other students. Highly recommended, clean facilities, and exceptional instruction (especially for a newcomer). Also, both Laura’s at the front desk have been super helpful! 😄

The best and safest involuntary yoga in town. Learn to fold clothes while people are still in them while having fun. Seriously a great place. Learn proper technique and join the best BJJ family in Tucson.✌️
We've been with the GB family for almost a year now and I have to say it's the FIRST place I've felt safe with my kid. People have many reasons for joining but ours had everything to do with the health of our little one. In under a year they have brought our 'little' our of their shell, helped guide their confidence, and protected them when necessary. We have sat through multiple classes and have dropped them off while getting errands taken care of. Not once did our little come to us upset, angry, or sad. Either they were worn out or excited. A lifesaver✌️ GBBJJ for life.

My son has been coming since October 2021 and he is doing so much better with his confidence. He is learning how to use self defense to get out of certain situations. Gracie Barra teaches their students not to use their techniques outside of the school and only to use them if the need arises for self defense. The professors and coaches work great with the students and they are always willing to go above and beyond. The owners are great and very helpful and personable! I recommend this school to anyone that is interested in learning self defense!
I have been attending Gracie Barra for a little over a month now and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far. The professors and staff are all extremely patient, kind, and knowledgeable.

This is my son's first time at Gracie Barra and he loves it! The professors and coaches are great with the kids and they take time to explain the different moves to them. This is the best place!! There's a place for everyone!! Jiu-Jitsu teaches you so much! The professors André , Albert, Enrique and Al are the best. They really help you understand and keep you motivated. While learning skills you are also getting in shape and sharpening your mind. This place and all of the wonderful people in it have helped me change myself mentally and physically. I am learning more than I thought possible. Professors André, Enriqué, Albert and Al are just absolutely amazing! There's no better place to go. Invest in Yourself! You fit in and this is a family!
My 5 year old son comes here and he loves it and it has given him such a boost in self confidence he even made a few friends there and he used to be be too shy to even talk to other kids.
Great experience! Staff was super hospitable and friendly. Class was challenging but not unachievable. I absolutely loved my intro class but membership was too far out of my budget so continue.

Took my son for their free intro class and he loved it!!! The instructors made sure he understood all the moves and workouts. They were very friendly. My son is still practicing his new moves on everyone in the house.

Have been training here for almost a year. Even during a period of recovery, staff and students helped stay motivated to train. Back training as much as schedule allows and always looking for more opportunities. Highly recommend this place. Exemplifies a family environment.

I came to GB Tucson a number of times in 2015-2016. Every time I visited, Professor Enrique was such an awesome instructor. I always looked forward to my Tucson trips for work because as a GB member, I was able to train at multiple locations in the GB World. I learned great techniques and tips from Professor Enrique and Professor Al. I took time off from GB for 3 1/2 years, but I still followed GB Tucson during this time. If you are in the Tucson area, I highly recommended signing up yourself, friends, or family members as this gym is family oriented and will make every moment fun and worthwhile. Also, if you have children, GB teaches the foundations of honor, respect, and self-defense. Thank you once again Professor Enrique for having me when I visited, I cannot wait to get back to Tucson and train with you again.
GB Tucson is a great BJJ school, I’m really pleased with the quality of instruction and the friendly, safety first attitude of fellow students and instructors. I’ve been training at GB Tucson for about 5-6 months. Since day one I’ve felt the professors and coaches passion for the art of jiu jitsu. I was nervous on my first day, but Professor Enrique made me and my brother-in-law feel at home. With 2020 being a difficult year, I knew I needed some type of distraction. I intentionally was just going to have my husband sign up but I decided to join as well. It was the best choice I had ever made. Now I look forward to class every day after work. The owners are very welcoming and kind. The instructors are very thorough and patient. The people are so welcoming and non judgmental. Even if your afraid, like I was, just push yourself and try the free class like I did, you wont regret it.

My son started at Gracie Barra Tucson a few months ago, not only to deal with bullying but also to encourage self esteem, gain self control, gain respect for himself and for others and most importantly to socialize and have fun. Within this short time at Gracie Barras he has conquered everything above and more. They have amazing classes from young children to advanced adults. Professor Enrique, Professor Drive-In, Coach Dan, Coach Ken, Coach Dale and all the other assisting teachers are amazing at what they do and how they teach the children. They’re mats and surrounding areas are always clean and they’re greatly structured. I highly recommend this place.
The best decision I've made by far was to start training BJJ. Not only are Professors Enrique, Al, and Drive-In world class practitioners... they're also great people with big hearts. The students are also awesome. In 4 months, I've met and made friends with several incredible people. Also, it's good to see people from all walks of life practicing a discipline under one roof, under one banner. No division, no hate, just training BJJ and helping each other get better. Do yourself the favor, if you're considering trying a free class to see if it's for you... DO IT. You won't regret it.
We switched to GB from another school and It was the best decision we ever made. The professors and coaches genuinely care about our kids. They give them so much support and it’s not just bjj training, but self defense and life lessons (respect, brotherhood, enjoyment, etc). We have made some great friends there too. They are a second family.
I have just moved to Tucson and Gracie Barra Oro Valley took me in with open arms and immediately treated me as one of the team! This school has an amazing group of instructors and students founded on a solid base of morals and values. I'm lucky to be here and so thankful for all of the knowledge and friendships I have gained.
Truly amazing place. Family atmosphere is like no other. Kids program is the best in town! While most schools only focus on competition and beating each other up, Gracie Barra Tucson also has a place for non competitors and people who just want to learn self defense. Awesome and gorgeous school!

The instructor, Professor Enrique Villegas, explains the techniques very clearly and in a way everyone can understand. The students are all very kind and made me feel welcome. Gracie Barra is a great BJJ school for kids! Professor Enrique and the coaches really work individually with the kids and take the time to get to know each one of them. My son has been attending since January, 2016 and has had major improvements with discipline, focus, and his over all behavior. They not only teach jiu-jitsu , but they teach kids anti-bullying, self confidence, respect and so much more! I strongly recommend this BJJ school for people of all ages! The atmosphere is welcoming, the place is ALWAYS clean and the price is extremely affordable.
I do not have one single complaint. Professor Enrique has created such an incredible environment that is welcoming and beneficial to everyone no matter the skill level. You will not find a nicer more supportive group of people anywhere else. GB teaches you mental and physical toughness and techniques to make you confident in defending yourself in any situation. I trained in Judo when I was very young, our family moved from Nevada to Arizona, so I ended up quitting Judo. I always regretted that I quit Judo. In time, I always wanted to get back into some form of Martial art. Maybe Judo again, or Aikido? Jiu-Jitsu? I didn't know. Then I discovered Gracie Barra Tucson!! I thought to myself, ok, there's a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in Tucson! Awesome! Let me check it out! I took the free class to see what it was all about, I loved it and signed up right after my free class! The Academy is a very friendly,and family-oriented. If you have young children too, they can start training Jiu-Jitsu at 3 years old, how cool is that! :) Head Instructor Professor Enrique is very knowledgeable and passionate about teaching, he loves to teach!! He is very involved with his students training! He also takes the time during training to teach one on one, to make sure that your learning the technique properly! He makes learning fun! So, if you want to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Then Gracie Barra Tucson is the place to do it!!

My son and I have been training at Gracie Barra Tucson for almost two years and it has been a great experience for both of us. The instruction is excellent and always well organized. GB Tucson is very family oriented and the students have a great camaraderie. I highly recommend to parents who are looking for a great training environment.
My grandson went to this location to learn jujutsu, and he really enjoyed it. He looks forward to going every week because the instructors are very good with the kids. However, I don't agree with how they earn their belts. They aren't tested on what they know; instead, they receive their belts based on the time they've spent there. I believe they should be assessed on their knowledge and what they have learned to ensure they can effectively use the skills taught by the instructors.
On 4-7-2023 I gave email notice to GBTBJ that I had decided to move out of state. This was a decision I had made due to my wife’s passing. When she passed I let the Enrique know of my families struggle. I got an email response on 4-11-2023 that they were saddened by the news however, due to their strict 60 day notice of cancellation policy they would still be charging my account the $200.00 monthly fee. So, I was charged another $400.00. I missed the cutoff by a few days. No understanding or compassion for my circumstances. It is my opinion that Beyond their serious lack of compassion for what my family faced, they also charge much more than most of the Tucson Gyms for what they offer which I believe is a very cookie cutter program. I had spoken to Enrique about the lack of discipline and technique the instructor was teaching in the program several months prior to deciding to leave. I felt He dismissed my concerns and didn’t address the issue any further with me.
It’s all about the money and who you are My daughter was pushed around and hurt by one individual (boy) all the time, older than her and we never mentioned anything or complained, Oh but have others complain about my child “hurting others”, and keep on telling us to talk to her, she’s a 7 year girl for Gods sake, the owner called and canceled her membership right way after I posted this review. I never saw you clean mats or any surface, bathrooms after each class, my daughter will be fine she’s going to take a break and go somewhere else of course she will wonder why she didn’t say good bye to her friends
Overrated and overpriced. The ultimate expression of form over substance. You will find them more concerned about everyone's gi matching then teaching jujitsu. On top of that, literally the worst parking situation in Tucson. For real learning and less hassle, skip this place and go to a real bjj gym, such as 10th Planet, Inverse Jujitsu, or Mako BJJ.
