I can't say enough about the hospitality myself and my daughter were treated to while in town Leviathan. As a brown belt who's has trained all over the country, having 3 different home gyms as the Army has moved me to 3 different states since I started training, I can't tell you how nice it was to find a solid jiu-jitsu gym so close to my hometown. Breck and the team have something really cool going on there. When I told my 4yo daughter we were heading to TN to see Grandmama and she needed to pack, she went and grabbed her gym bag and only packed her gi, belt and rash guard. I looked at her and asked you want to take that? She said "yeah sure, you can maybe find somewhere for me to train" (on vacation.) We'll that we did and what a great kids program! Everyone was focused, training hard and the coaches did a wonderful job making sure my daughter was treated like one of their own. I'm excited to come back and see them next time I'm in town. If you are local definitely bring your kids over to try it out, or bring yourself and start something new, it might just be the best thing you've ever done for yourself

I was in town for work and was lucky enough to be invited to come train at Leviathan. It couldn’t have been a better experience. Everyone was so welcoming from the moment I walked in, which for me is a big deal. The lesson was great (octopus guard) and the training was hard but no one was out there to hurt you. Fantastic room of guys. Thanks so much to Breck and Ethan for the opportunity to train with you guys. Will definitely be returning when I’m back in town.

I can’t say enough good things about this BJJ gym. The instructor/coaches are amazing and the atmosphere of parents and students are wonderful! My child has been training here for about 1 1/2 yrs now. I have seen how my son has grown both in skill and self confidence. After sitting and watching him for several months both my husband and I decided to try it ourselves. I personally had the most hesitation to even try it due to previous life situations and everyone here has been patient and supportive of me. Now I’m able to face those fears with confidence and while having fun! It has been truly a great experience all around for the 3 of us! We love this BJJ community and can’t wait to see our continuous progress evolves!

I am writing this review as an observer. I have three family members (12 and 14 year olds and one adult who attend Leviathan Academy. On multiple occasions I have been able to watch their classes and promotions. I must say from my observations that this gym is a great gym. The owner/coach Breck is very knowledgeable, dedicated and friendly. He and his instructors make the classes a great experience for their students. Especially the kids. Also very family oriented. We were able to attend a tournament (American Grappling Federation) this past weekend of which many students were competing in. So many students won medals, including many gold. That alone speaks volumes that Leviathan Academy teaches their students to achieve their best.

I’ve been training at Leviathan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy a few months now, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made! The coach is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely cares about the student’s progress. I find the gym's atmosphere to be very welcoming—there’s a strong sense of community and respect among members. What really sets this gym apart are the teaching techniques--learning the correct fundamentals while gradually building skills. The gym is always clean, and there’s plenty of mat space for rolling and drills. If you’re serious about improving your Jiu Jitsu or if you're just beginning, Leviathan is the place to be. I wanted to start training jiu-jitsu since first being exposed to it over 20 years ago in the Marine Corps (as part of MCMAP, which pulls from various martial arts). Finally started training at Leviathan about 9 months ago. I have a long way to go and this will hopefully be a lifelong journey, but I’m loving it so far. Our family is so thrilled to have found Leviathan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu after moving to the area. One thing that sets Leviathan apart is their great coaching staff. There are multiple black belts who call this gym home, which is unique to the greater Chattanooga/Cleveland area. The head instructor and owner, Breck, is one of the top competitors in the area whose competition record speaks to his technical ability. He's also a great coach who is invested in the success of each of his students. Whether it's coaching at tournaments, providing dedicated Q&A time, or even just informally helping during classes, he goes above and beyond. He also has worked to create a positive gym culture, and that has resulted in friendly and skilled training partners at every belt level. One other area where Leviathan really stands out is the kids program. As a parent of three kids in the program, I've seen firsthand how our children have grown both in their abilities as well as their love of the sport. It's also awesome to see so many of the coaches on the mats who also have kids in the program. The family-oriented culture at Leviathan makes for a great atmosphere for young athletes. Ladies - Come train with us! After 2 years of my husband and oldest son training with Professor Breck, I finally tried my 1st class. A year has flown by and I LOVE it! I wish I would have started training earlier (especially before I moved away to college). Leviathan was my first martial arts gym that I’ve came to and mostly enjoyed. My brother and I first trained there 2 years ago and still stuck to the gym due to the friendly environment and encouragement Breck, several black belt instructors, and peers have given us. Me and my brother have learned a lot from this gym and still continuously practice at home when we get the chance. As a women, it was hard to find others to train with but there has been a multitude of women coming in to Leviathan. I would love to encourage more women to try this gym out as well as men and children. Hands down the best place to train at where everyone feels like family.

I've trained with Breck Still (the owner) since we were both white belts. After nearly 14 years, I can tell you that not only will you not find a better Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor in Cleveland or Chattanooga than Breck, but you also won't find a better person at any Brazilian Jiu-jitsu school than Breck. As a result, Leviathan has a deep roster of assistant coaches that are also dedicated to seeing you and the school succeed. Several other Black Belts besides Breck will be there to help you develop your jiu-jitsu skill set. Ben, Nick, Cesar, and Steven are all accomplished black belts who help instruct at Leviathan. They and others contribute to an ever growing team of excellent jiu-jitsu practitioners. You won't find a better atmosphere or better instruction in this area than at Leviathan. The kids' class is huge with an unmatched student to instructor ratio. Also, if you are a woman or you and your wife both want to train, there are multiple married couples who train together at Leviathan. No matter who you are, if you are training jiu-jitsu within 30mins of Cleveland, this is where you should train.

Leviathan Academy is hands down best place to train in the area. I trained at this gym for ~2.5 years and couldn’t imagine starting my jiu jitsu journey anywhere else. If you give this gym a chance it will quickly become more than just another gym but a close knit community that you can count on. There is a great variety of classes from gi to nogi, open mats and technical sessions. The gym also caters to a variety of practitioners from competitors to casual hobbyists, first day students to seasoned players and everyone in between. The gym has plenty of space and the temperature is well regulated (which I didn’t appreciate until training at different gyms). Mats are habitually cleaned and . Breck consistently works to enhance the customer experience on a variety of fronts, from exploring new teaching methods to bolstering the gym space and mat area. If you are in Cleveland, or even the surrounding area this is the place you want to be a part of. My wife and both of my children also train here. There is something for everyone here. Want to get in better shape? You can do that here. Want to learn self defense? You can do that here. Sport jiu jitsu your thing? You can do that here. Want to be a serious competitor? You can do that here. The community and environment are top notch. We have made some great training partners in the gym, and some great friends outside of the gym due to Leviathan. There is no other gym in the surrounding area that has the quality of classes you can receive at Leviathan. Breck the head coach, and all the other coaches and black belts are top notch. My only regret is I didn’t start training here sooner.

Instructors present lessons in a way that all practitioners can understand. Breck and his knowledgeable instructors have a depth of Jiu-Jitsu and teaching experience like no other gym. He can help you take your Jit-Jitsu to the next level, whether you are just getting started or a seasoned veteran. All types of people comprise classes at Leviathan Academy. Some multi-sport athletes attend Jiu-Jitsu classes to round out their training. Some are refining their competitive nature, while others are learning self-defense and how to use force appropriately. Still, others just enjoy seeing their friends in class. Kids' classes are fun and have excellent attendance. These classes are a great way for youngsters to develop a competitive spirit but at their pace. Coach Breck does an incredible job teaching kids jiu-jitsu so everyone has fun and stays safe. I came from Canada on bussiness. While at the plant I saw this BIG ole southern boy with a Jui Jitsu t shirt. Struck up a conversation with him and he invited to the gym. Came to his class and sure enough this gym encomapsses the spirit of brazillian jui jitsu with a southern flare that makes you feel welcome and at home while learning from top level instructors that focus on technique over everything else. Meanwhile making plans to travel to Cleveland, TN for work I also wanted to visit a jiu jitsu gym during the week I am in town. After I did a research I found Laviathan Acadamy . I sent an email to see if would be ok to drop in for a class. In no time Breck replied and said he would be happy to have me (unfortunately I did not had the opportunity to meet with Professor Breck because he was on vacation during my week there). Everyone was super friendly, welcoming and skillful. The gym has plenty of mat space. If you are traveling to Cleveland, TN or live in the area I highly recommend that you visit this facility.

While making plans to travel to Cleveland TN for white water rafting while on vacation I also wanted to visit a local BJJ gym for a class. Found Laviathan Acadamy on Google. I sent an email to see if would be ok to drop in for a class. In just a few minutes they replied and said they would be happy to have us (my son and I). When we arrived for the class everyone was friendly and welcoming. Instructor Breck taught a great class and even gave my son a roll during the sparring at the end of class where he gave him some pointers too. My oldest daughter (21 years old) and I have been going here for about two years now. Great atmosphere. Two of my younger boys and my wife also started taking classes here a few months ago. Kids and adult classes are very well run. I feel it is a great safe environment for kids and women to train at an intensity that proves the techniques will work. Safety and trust is a big deal for me. The family is having lots of fun learning bjj. I think bjj is the best martial art for self defense. My son started jiu jitsu here when he was 10 yrs old. He felt like part of the team from day 1 and quickly progressed thanks to high quality instruction he received. Breck and crew always made sure to maximize the kids training time while making it fun and disciplined. The BJJ skills and life lessons he learned here have boosted his confidence and given him an experience that he will carry with him the rest of his life. If you are thinking about getting into BJJ or already are, I highly recommend Leviathan!!

Leviathan Academy is top tier. Everyone there, other students included, works together to help eachother learn the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The instructors do a great job of teaching in a way that's easy to understand and really fun. Coach Breck, Clay, and Cesar are great people and I'm proud to be learning from them. Highly recommend Leviathan Academy.

The confidence Leviathan Academy has given my 13 year old daughter is something you can't place value on. The coaches are very professional and the owner is very qualified. They have class for children and an adult class. The adult class is taught in such a way that it allows the white belts through the black belts to develop at their own level and pace.

The absolute best around! Our son has grown so much here over the last year. He enjoys the classes and chances to compete. Excellent instruction with an emphasis on discipline and responsibility. Head Instructor Breck Still does a phenomenal job communicating with the kids. It’s a serious class with the perfect amount of levity and fun. The assistant instructors helping with the class have been wonderful as well. All are very welcoming to newcomers. Definitely worth a try to see how much your child can learn from “the gentle art”!

Instructor Breck Still's accolades have been mentioned in other reviews, so I won't repeat them here, but know that he is a very talented instructor who cares about his students. Everyone at Leviathan is extremely welcoming. It's a great place to train BJJ and (recently added to the offerings) Muay Thai. Breck offers two weeks of free training, an opportunity that can't be beat. Come check Leviathan out!

My kids have done BJJ before, and Leviathan Academy is way ahead of the other guys when it comes to training kids. Even with smaller kids, he teaches technique, moves, etc. You pay to be taught, and that's what Breck teaches.

Breck Still is my favorite black belt instructor in the Chattanooga/Cleveland area. He's a great competitor, instructor, and friend. He goes out of his way to make students new and old feel welcome. He is a very generous guy and posts free content to his YouTube channel @stillrolling. He also gives back to the community by hosting free bully proof and women's self defense seminars. No matter what your Jiu-Jitsu goal is Breck will help you to achieve it. If you are considering training at Leviathan you won't regret it!

I train here every time I am in Chattanooga. Great place to train with lots of knowledgeable, skilled, and friendly people. Breck is an awesome instructor and runs a very welcoming establishment. I highly suggest this place to anyone in the Cleveland/Chattanooga or anyone visiting as well. Guaranteed to have a good training session with some good people. Maybe learn something new, too.

This gym has a huge reputation for harassing people in the BJJ community if they don't like them personally or their politics. I would very strongly recommend that you check out another gym in the area instead. I would not feel comfortable signing up and giving them personal information about myself or my kids to train at a gym that I knew the instructors were going to use it to look into my personal life and share it with other people. I was also told they always try and distance themselves from the people they harass - claim they don't know them or were never on their team. Judging by the comments they leave on other people that talk about this problem, this is definitely true.

Woah man where do I even begin..yeah okay so l've been training here for a few years and it was always okay jiu jitsu but the owners wife over the last few weeks has become increasingly present at the gym and basically forcing her politics down peoples throats. Going up to guys with bumper stickers on their trucks and calling them all kinds of wild and insulting names. It's so unreal you'd have to have been there to believe it. Personally don't think the owner really believes all that he's never been super political but I think he's just thrown the towel in and let her run the show. The end result is a crazy hostile training environment where guys you got along with just are gone the next day. I kinda saw the writing on the wall and already made plans to leave. This is my final goodbye. Hope you guys get it together, because politics has no place in jiu jitsu.

Leave politics out of Jiu-jitsu. Let everyone train. My experience with this gym (watching them harass someone at another school and get him kicked out of his gym over politics) left a bad taste in my mouth. Hence the one ⭐️
