I came in as a walk-in. Everyone- students and instructors were very welcoming. The whole class introduced themselves to me and were great to work out with. Robert did a great job of teaching technique and explaining how to do them. There's a great culture going on here.

As a man nearing 40, father, husband, martial artist, and business owner, this gym reignited my passion for martial arts in way I never knew I needed. It fosters a unique bond and inclusive atmosphere, where the knowledgeable and passionate instructors are invested in each students progress. Training here is both challenging and rewarding. At times you’ll want to give up but our coaches will build you up with encouragement and help you overcome the struggles you may have. I've been training different martial arts styles for over 30 years. I'm particular & somewhat picky when it comes to settling in with a new team and coach but Leviathan has been an incredible experience. Highly recommend for all levels of experience, the coaches are knowledgeable and break things down in a way that is easy to understand and the students are warm and welcoming to all. If you've ever thought about BJJ training, this is your place! Update: I've been training here for 2 years now and stand by my original review. This place is so welcoming, the friendships you make are life-long, and the training is top-notch. I highly recommend this program!
Great gym to train at, everyone here is like a big family. Robert doesn't care what color you are, what size or shape, he just wants to make you better day by day. Would recommend anyone try it out

The best gym I have ever been to. The knowledge of the instructors and the welcoming community they provide is amazing. They do really well with people that have had zero experience and teach them in a safe and fun environment. I couldn’t recommend them anymore. They also have a great kids class. If you are looking for a great way to workout and meet some awesome people checkout Leviathan!
Wonderful gym! Popped in for an open mat this Sunday and I would highly recommend this gym if you’re in the Madison area. Great people all around!
If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Robert and krysta are some of the nicest people I have ever met and very knowledgeable. With their smooth and steady pace and their step by step tutorials it’s a place id 100% recommend for your kids, and even you!

Dropped in for a no-gi comp class. It was excellent! Coaches and students were awesome. I will definitely be back next time I stop in town. Definitely check them out!
The reviews say everything you need to know. Great place, incredibly welcoming for beginners and knowledgeable instructors. I wasn’t able to continue because the class schedule didn’t line up well with my job, but if something ever changed with that I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Thank you guys.
Awesome gym! Coach Robert is very knowledgable AND a good instructor. The gym culture is extremely positive and welcoming; everyone is there to learn and to help their training partners improve. If you're in or around Madison, drop in and take a class. I can't recommend this gym highly enough.
Coach Robert and Krysta are great! I am new to Jiu Jitsu and was a little intimidated to start. But my first class at Leviathan everyone was extremely welcoming and made me feel part of the team immediately. Coach Robert is very knowledgeable and truly cares about his students. I highly recommend Leviathan to everyone. Whether you are brand new to jiu jitsu or experienced, you will have a great time.
Robert is the man. I popped in for a day, as I’m here for Madison for work. These guys are very hospitable, and I learned some awesome technique for my toolbox as a brown belt. Many of osses guys!

Just started training and Coach Robert and Krysta are amazing. I love the coaching and as a large guy I’m allowed to work at my own pace, but still provides a challenge. I never thought I’d get into Brazilian Ju Jitsu, but Leviathan has me loving my experience.

Amazing gym and a wonderful team!
This gym has a friendly, fun, and instructive community where I’ve made friends and learned many lessons. The class sizes usually are smaller, the coach knows your name and knows your progress. The gym also has simple and competitive pricing which doesn’t lock you in or require you buy a bunch of gear upfront. I really like that they do live rolling at the end of every lesson, and that people there value safety over winning while rolling. I highly recommend to both new and experienced students of Jiu Jitsu!
This school opened in 2022 and I wish I would have heard of it sooner. My first class had a mix of age groups and people of all sizes. They were very knowledgeable and inviting. I had come with a different martial arts background and love the application of my past training and skills to the new format. I would recommend anyone come in and try this. It makes me feel safer at my job and more prepared for anything.

If you are a student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or you are wanting to give it a try, definitely check out Leviathan BJJ in Sun Prairie. It is located right behind Gus’s Diner on Highway 19. The head coach, Robert, is a highly skilled black belt competitor, but he teaches in a way that makes the sport approachable and the techniques very easy to learn and incorporate into your game. Classes (both gi and nogi) are tough but fun. It is the best full-body workout you can get. They gym culture is relaxed and inviting, but the students train hard. Everyone is welcome - men, women, teens, kids, military, LEO - everyone! Whether you are a competitor or just want to try BJJ for fun and exercise, check out Leviathan.
Been training with coach Robert for a while now and my game has gone up drastically. Great gym for having fun, learning self defense and training hard. Would recommend if you just want to casually train, lose some weight or go hard for competition. If you're new and have been thinking of grappling, do yourself a favor and drop in!
Did a free trial not to long ago, Terrible atmosphere, constant belittling from the coach and very inappropriate/racist jokes towards people of color or different races. 100% wouldn't recommend to anyone of color or women, didn't feel like a safe space at all.
