Mark is an extremely knowledgeable and passionate grappling instructor. Mark tailors his approach differently for each student to make them the best they can be in the most efficient way! The gym is clean, safe and has a fun friendly atmosphere. Whether you are a complete novice or an expert I would highly recommend training at Kraken.

Having had no previous experience of Grappling/ Jiu Jitsu I was slightly nervous attending my first class, there was no need to be however. Everyone was very friendly and keen to help and share their knowledge. Coach Mark is an outstanding teacher and simplifies seemingly very complicated movements so even novices such as myself can easily understand and do them. The classes are well structured and suitable for all levels whether you are a beginner such as myself or a an experienced grappler. Even after a few short weeks I can already see some significant progress. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Very welcoming atmosphere all round. Have done no grappling work before joining Kraken, they first made me feel very welcomed and the coach Mark knows how to instruct everyone through all the movements clearly and in a easy to understand manner. All the other members are instantly easy to get along with, regardless of their experience everyone is eager to help you learn and coach you through if you are a newer to the scene. You will always learn something new and have mini victories throughout. Soon as I left my first free session I instantly knew it was something I wanted to keep at and make part of my routine for the foreseeable future. If you are interested in taking up some martial art and want to start off with Brazilian Jujitsu, you couldn't find a better team around. Highly recommend!

If you’re at all curious about learning Jiu Jitsu, I’d highly recommend coming down for a free trial lesson. I attended my first lesson a few weeks back, with zero experience in any form of martial arts, so as you can imagine, my anxiety going in was pretty hardcore. Mark was able to put my mind at ease and tailors his classes to be accessible to both advanced students, and complete noob novices like myself. I’m having a great time, and the nerves haven’t quite gone away just yet, but I’ve already seen massive improvements and the nerves gotten better as well. Cheers again Mark.

I've been at the club for 3 months now and I'm really enjoying myself. The instructor Mark is very skilled, knowledgeable and above all a great teacher. It can be intimidating learning a high contact sport like Jiu Jitsu but everyone has been very kind, friendly and supportive to me as a new starter. A really great place for Advanced levels, as well as Novices - I would highly recommend!
