Had a really great time at Kingdom BJJ. I was in Thunder Bay for the day and I dropped in for both a foundations class and all levels class and thoroughly enjoyed both of them. Head coach Brady’s CLA based training and the positional work that we did was excellent. I can’t wait to come back and train here again!
Dropped in for an open mat and class and Brady was and is an exceptional teacher and person 10/10 experience, would come again whenever im in town. Fun, clean and safe environment and atmosphere recommend 💯 good gym
Great gym. Dropped in on an open mat, really good atmosphere, safe, fun and excellent training partners. Looking forward to visiting again
I've been lucky enough to train at some of the best jiu jitsu gyms in north america including tristar gym, renzo Gracie New York city, and tons of other competitive gyms in major cities across north america, and I can confidently say after training here that you absolutely don't need to train at any massive big brand gym to reach your goals. Brady has expert level jiu jitsu, but also is an expert in teaching others jiu jitsu. Two very rare skills that are even more rarely found together. The quality of instruction and expertise is far beyond the price of the monthly membership.
Kingdom BJJ has been an amazing place for me to train and grow in BJJ. What I really appreciate is the unique coaching style and the way the training pushes you to keep improving and challenge yourself. The flexible class times throughout the week make it easy to stay consistent with training. For me, especially as someone who enjoys competing and wants to keep taking my BJJ to the next level, Kingdom has been exactly the kind of environment I was looking for. Great coaches, great training partners, and a place I genuinely enjoy being a part of. Highly recommend!
Brady has built a great environment where everyone is welcoming, the training is challenging, and there’s a real focus on actually developing your skills rather than just going through the motions. All skill levels can definitely benefit from him and whatever questions you have he’ll always be able to give the answers you’re looking for!
A wonderful gym for beginners and seasoned BJJ athletes! Brady is an awesome coach, who's very welcoming and full of passion for the sport. He's happy to answer questions, and ask you thought provoking questions in return to help you progress towards your goals whether it's competing or recreational activity. Great coach, awesome members!
I have practiced jujitsu for 20+ years. I had retired a few years ago but when Brady opened his own place I found a new BJJ home. The environment at Kingdom BJJ allows me the freedom to explore grappling around the limitations of my age and injuries. Breaking down what I need to do to work around my injuries and maximizing my attributes, instead of trying to fit into a one size fits all mould. I love the non-formal environment, where we are free to examine how jujitsu works for each of us. The Constraints-Led Approach taught at Kingdom is perfect for those looking to work outside the box.
Brady has been my instructor since I started doing Jiu Jitsu as a mid life crisis mechanism. Jiu Jitsu is a touch safer than a motorcycle and Brady safer than a seatbelt when it comes to learning Jiu Jitsu🤔. He use’s a “constraint led approach” to teaching which involves being put in certain positions and having to work through those positions using the concepts Brady demonstrates. You learn Jiu Jitsu in a more osmotic way rather than repeated drilling of a few techniques over and over again. This style of coaching makes you more proficient in real life situations and active rolling. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone that is serious about Jiu Jitsu. Great place to train!!
I can’t recommend Kingdom BJJ enough. The head instructor brings a different approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu than what I’ve experienced in more traditional training environments. There’s a heavy focus on functional, practical Jiu-Jitsu—understanding why techniques work, how to apply them against real resistance, and developing skills that actually translate when things get difficult. What really stands out is the quality of the coaching. He has an excellent ability to identify weaknesses, explain concepts in a way that clicks, and adapt his instruction to the individual rather than simply teaching everyone the same way. I’ve also been doing private lessons with him, and the improvement has been dramatic. The combination of technical detail, troubleshooting, and individualized training has honestly allowed me to make what feels like years of progress in a matter of months. My understanding, confidence, and overall ability have all taken a major step forward. Just as importantly, he genuinely cares about his students and the Thunder Bay community. He’s actively involved, approachable, and clearly invested in building people up—not just building a gym. Whether you’re brand new to Jiu-Jitsu, looking for practical skills, or an experienced practitioner wanting to take your game to another level, Kingdom BJJ is absolutely worth checking out.
