I was referred here by a friend while traveling from California. As someone who travels frequently, I make it a point to train at different academies along the way. This place truly stands out. Professor Gabriel has an excellent curriculum, and the students are both skilled and incredibly welcoming. I highly recommend training here—you’ll receive top-quality instruction in a great community.

After looking around for options on my vacation, I settled with Professor Gabriel Martins at IJJ because of his background and experience in the sport. He's a gem of a source of knowledge here in Austin and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The gym culture he harbors at IJJ is very welcoming for those like me who travel and want to roll. This place is extremely newbie friendly and the renovations are awesome here. Definitely stop in and check him and his team out: I've added this place from my "BJJ Bucket" list to my "Will Visit Again" list.

Coach Gabriel and his gym are awesome. He does a great job working with the kids of all ages. Our 9 and 5 year old are with him. He shows incredible patience and attention with all the kids there. He knows how to teach the children in a way they can understand. He is compassionate as well as stern when he needs to be.

I've trained at IJJ now for 2 years. Gabriel and all the students have been always welcoming and kind. Space is inclusive for queer folk and women. Susie (black belt) and the other upper belts create a welcoming environment

I’ve spent the last 2 years at a number of different Jiu-Jitsu gyms in Austin, many of them awesome and totally legit— but none compare to the safe, welcoming and inclusive environment that Gabriel Martins has created at IJJ. The fact that the member base is diverse not only in age, origin and identity coupled with the fact that IJJ welcomes new and seasoned fighters alike speaks volumes. Whether you’re a competitor or a hobbyist, IJJ has phenomenal instruction that you will find value in— plus it’s a supportive, safe training environment conducive to long-term growth. And if that’s not enough to convince you… free week trial and no year long contracts. OSS.
