Dropped into Hurricane while I was visiting Cleveland and had awesome training. Professor John is very welcoming and knowledgeable. Class is a nice mix of instruction, situational training, and sparring. The gym is beautiful, super clean, and has plenty of mat space. The team is great too, very cool and fun to train with. I'm looking forward to coming back when I'm in Cleveland.
Posted in the last weekIn town for a couple of days and instructor welcomed us. Great school. Instructors and students are very friendly and made us feel like home. Instructors are very proficient and we learned new techniques during our visit.
Posted a month agoAs a brown belt who does a lot of traveling, finding a good gym while visiting different cities is difficult. I’m happy to say that Hurricane Jiu Jitsu (under the leadership of coach John) is one of the good ones—a great one, in fact. John was courteous and welcoming; his instruction was clear and concise; and his technique was excellent. And just as a good coach invites students of the same caliber, everybody I trained with during class were equally kind, welcoming, and fun to roll with. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone interested in training Jiu Jitsu, and I will absolutely return if I’m ever in the area again.
Posted 6 months agoDropped in while on a business trip so I could get some training in. The schedule is broken up by advanced and beginners. The instructor was very methodical in his teaching and broke down each position very well...and progressed through the position to the different trees based upon looks! Overall, had a great time! Beautiful facility and good rolls over all!
Posted 9 months agoI'm visiting from out of town for a couple weeks, and am a relatively new white belt. Hurricane is very friendly and welcoming - the owner talked to me almost as soon as I walked in the door, other coaches are similarly welcoming, and many of the other students have gone out of their way to include me. There is a good number and variety of classes, including no-gi several times a week, "basics" classes, and well-attended womens' classes. There are two mats, which gives them a lot of flexibility for class times. The other women are happy to drill and roll with me, and I also drilled and rolled with several men, who were universally respectful. No spazzy white belts either. Higher belts are very good at matching their intensity to my (low) skill level. This is a great place to train!
