The team do a great job of bringing the best of the craft to benefit the students as well as motivating and inspiring students of all age brackets. I cant recommend Sean and the team at Honne enough for anyone looking to begin their journey, or find a new place to train.

Dropped in with a friend and enjoyed the entire time. The gym is very cleanly and has the most unique aesthetic in Cincinnati. You would think you’re in California. For Kids the teens are skilled enough to roll with adults. I caught the tail end of a Kids class and it’s apparent the children are important to Sean he made sure the kids were paying attention as well as participating in the class. The entire class you’re moving. You’re also hand fighting so those with little to no wrestling it’s offered here in addition to BJJ. Now the other students were super friendly Honne has an awesome culture where you could trust someone with a leg lock and know you wouldn’t be injured. For reference Brown Belt - 18 years of Grappling between wrestling and jits and I’ve been apart of numerous Gyms due to moving. with that THIS IS AN EXCELLENT GYM. 👏 Vibes: Good Technique reviewed: Good Live Rounds: Yes Odds of getting Staph/ Skin Infection: Low and the Gym has Showers.

Honne is way more than a business. I train here in the adult classes and I have 4 kids training here as well. My whole family feels welcome here, even the ones who aren't training. Coaching team has built a community where ego's are checked at the door, the drilling is detailed, the rolls are tough, and the relationships are prioritized. Myself and my kids are encouraged to be respectful, excellent, and kind both on and off the mat's.

Moved to the Cincinnati area in 2023 from Las Vegas. I reached out to Sean in the Spring of 2023. He was extremely encouraging and positive about my journey in Jiu Jitsu. I have a very demanding job when it comes to time in the office, and it never worked out in 2023. I had a baby in this same time period. He told me Jiu Jitsu will be here for you forever, take care of what I need to take care of. Spring of 2024 I reached back out to Sean and it was like we never stopped chatting. We picked up right where we left off and I was able to get in two sessions with him that week. He is extremely knowledgeable, engaging, great teacher, and is humble as they come. There’s no ego, there’s no chest puffing, it’s purely development as a jiu jitsu practitioner and as a human. I learned just as much life lessons as I did jiu jitsu techniques in those first 2 classes. And now as I get back into the grind of a job, Sean is willing to work with me and help in any capacity. This is a very special place that is more of a community and family than a place to train. I highly recommend this gym to anyone that wants to get detailed teaching and a warm friendly environment you don’t have to worry about the guy trying to hurt you cause your visiting. From the moment I walked in the door everyone there was welcoming and smiling. Best part was how clean this gym is. A lot of martial art gyms aren’t but this one was, I don’t know about spotless but it had a clean smell to it I’d say. If your thinking about starting this journey or need a place to train away from home, this is the perfect place to go!

I've trained at MMA gyms, you may not feel welcomed, or used, pounded and just didn't fit in. Well, if you are wanting to better yourself, your life, grow as a person and an individual, Honne is the place for you. I have been driving by this place for a while now, decided to fill out the waiver and ask questions. Sean, (owner) reached out within a day, he called me, and I trained with his Jiu Jitsu class (family) for 3 days straight. No GI, with GI, classes for everyone, male female, children, teens, people who want to compete, others that don't. It doesn't matter. 1st day I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and a handshake or a fist bump, each person, introduced themselves and said welcome. Don't be afraid to try Honne Jiu Jitsu out, this place is real and fun. Most of all it's a Family, people who are maybe in a dark place, who need loved, understood, going thru some stuff, you will Not find a better place and have the support from your team like at Honne Jiu jitsu. I want to preface this with it should strike you very odd all the review are 5/5. This is due to the owner soliciting reviews from the students. That being said, the facility is rather small for the occupancy. The mats are supposedly clean; however, I've never seen them mopped, not even after a practice. The experience here is lacking, mainly due to the size of the community. The people here are incredibly nice though. Also, buyer beware. You better be sure you want to be here before you are here. If you want to try this gym, you better buckle up for a 3 month commitment, with a 45 day in advance policy of cancelling ( so if you wanted to cancel after signing up, you must of put that in 45 days before you even signed up). These are all things not necessarily discussed in the beginning, or played down so that you sign up. The owner may come off as relaxing and go with the flow when signing up; but if something does come up, you’ll definitely see a switch of a person. He'll talk to you as a friend for about a week before moving on, you know, right after the contract is signed. I'm also half expecting this review be removed, so I'll be screenshotting this and will reupload as much as necessary.
