A favorite place to drop in when I have the time!! Everyone here rolls with a lot of heart and gives me a challenge without being overwhelming. They are tough but very warm and friendly. As a woman on the smaller side, I felt very comfortable here and very much enjoyed the gym energy. Great place to look into if you're looking to add some extra spice to your normal training.

This gym is an amazing place to train, whether you’re new to jiu-jitsu or looking to take your skills to the next level! What really stands out about this gym is the strong sense of community. The environment is friendly and encouraging, with a culture that’s both welcoming and motivating. It’s the kind of place where people genuinely support each other and share advice to help you improve. The camaraderie here makes it so much more than just a place to train; it feels like a second home. The instruction is absolutely top-tier. Coach Nick’s teaching style is highly structured and methodical, with a clear focus on breaking down techniques step by step. He has a knack for making even complex moves feel approachable, which is great for building a strong foundation or refining advanced techniques. His lessons are focused, consistent, and leave students with something concrete to take away every single class. The gym offers a great variety of classes—gi, no-gi, fundamentals (gi), and wrestling—so you’ll have everything you need to develop your skills in a well-rounded way. One of the best things about this gym is that you’re not just learning from Coach Nick (though his instruction is amazing)—you’re also learning from the other skilled jiu-jitsu practitioners here. The team environment is collaborative, and there’s always someone willing to share advice or offer tips to help you improve. It’s a culture of shared knowledge and growth that makes training here even more rewarding. I also can’t recommend the wrestling classes with Coach Taea enough. They’re high-energy, technical, and a fantastic way to complement your jiu-jitsu training. For women, I think this gym is a great choice. While I know some gyms can feel intimidating, this one fosters an inclusive and supportive environment. There’s a strong group of women who train here regularly, which adds to the overall positive dynamic. If you’re looking for a gym where you can challenge yourself, grow as a martial artist, and connect with a tight-knit group of people, this is the place. The combination of high-quality instruction, a strong sense of community, and the leadership of Coach Nick makes it stand out from the rest.

Well organized and embracing. I have two teens that have attended for over a year now and it’s helped set a foundation of confidence and the will to exert themselves. I can’t thank coach Nick and Chuck enough for their commitment dedication and support. They’re definitely like family.

10/10 recommend Heroes Eastside if you want to train hard and gain a community. Coach Nick is extremely knowledgable and supportive; he will provide you with challenging classes and individualized feedback. In addition, there are usually a handful of black belts at every class willing to roll or work with lower belts. Bonus points for the gym being super clean!
