I've had a great time. Gracie Milwaukee been part of this academy for almost a year. I've been to three other academies before and done Jiu-Jitsu on and off what I've really liked about racy Milwaukee is the structured correctly on their have and the online access ok Google breakdown of all the moves. I also really like the atmosphere that's super clean and it's a good place where you just want to practice and you don't want to get injured. They do take good care of you. Furthermore, they are well organized and do make the comfort of their students a priority. Skye and Diane are incredible instructors, And I've also gotten great value out of doing private lessons there. I pretty much go there after work whenever I can these days I like it there.

I can not be happier with my decision to train at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Milwaukee under Skye, Dianne, and Kevin. My daughter and I agree that it has been a great experience. For all you 40 year olds out there know that it isn't too late! The Gracie Combatives is the only way to learn this most efficacious self defense without all the worries and fears that may accompany any new student. The greatest obstacle I had was that I was so out of shape that I couldn't dream of learning how every other school would teach this martial art. The Gracie Combatives program is perfect for out of shape desk workers like me! Many also have injuries over the years that keep them from taking on anything else physically. The way the program is set up it is all about keeping you safe and injury free. This is so different from all other ways of learning Jiu-Jitsu that I wish I knew about this far sooner! I could go on and on. The Gracie Combatives program at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Milwaukee is exactly what I want for my self defense. The BullyProof program for my daughters is amazing as well. Check it out!!!!!!

Greatest place to train Jiu-Jitsu in Milwaukee. This academy offers both a beginner friendly experience and classes for seasoned grapplers. The Instructors care about their students and they demonstrate and explain each technique in great detail. If you ever wanted to try Jiu-Jitsu look no further than Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Milwaukee.

As someone who is plagued with an obnoxious amount of anxiety and fear making the leap to start the Women’s Empowered course was a hard one. I didn’t know what to expect and didn’t know if this was something I could even do. But, I am incredibly thankful I gave it a shot because it has already become one of the best decisions I have ever made. Every single person I have met there has been beyond welcoming and I instantly felt like part of the family. While I have only done a handful of classes so far and I already feel more confident and safer out in the world. Now for the instructors: Have you ever had the thought that someone was just meant to be in their profession? They’re just so passionate and good at it that you couldn’t imagine them doing anything else? That’s Skye and Diane. They have this amazing ability to take a topic that could be triggering for some and make it into the safest place you’ve ever been. Class is fun, informative and I walk away each time feeling more confident in myself. If you are reading this review trying to decide if you should try this out- just do it! 10/10 recommend

I’ve been going to Gracie Milwaukee for over a year now. I’ve tried out several other gyms and this one was the best fit for me. Very detailed instruction from Skye (who earned his black belt at the Gracie headquarters in Torrence, CA). What I like most is the emphasis on self defense as opposed to emphasis on winning tournaments. The online classes are a great way to dip your feet into jujitsu.

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu has been the best thing ever to my daughter! She has learned so much to keep herself safe, but even more than that it has boosted her confidence and self esteem! The teacher's are the best around and give kids the understanding of what it means to be in Jiu-Jitsu with love, support and structure. I would recommend them to anyone who has a child who is being bullied, has lack of self esteem, or needs a constructive outlet!

This is the absolute best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school in Wisconsin, hands down! Why is it the best? Start with a fun, respectful environment that encourages students to learn at their own pace. They offer a wide variety of classes for all age groups, including Jr. Grapplers for my kids, and beginner adult classes for myself, and even Women Empowered classes for those special ladies in your life. Don’t forget about their world class instruction from a wide range of instructors varying from blue belts all the way to the highest level Black Belts. I had wanted to train in BJJ for many years but was worried that I’d be smashed like a bug, wouldn’t fit in or wouldn’t be any good at it. The students and instructors at Gracie Milwaukee made me feel right at home from day 1 on the mat. I received patient instruction and also loads of tips from my fellow students! I had so much fun I couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day! If you want to have loads of safe, family fun, learn the best self defense martial art there is and become part of the Jiu Jitsu family, you should give Gracie Milwaukee a try.

I cannot say enough good things about Gracie Milwaukee. My only regret is that I didn’t find this place sooner. I have had several experiences at other Jiu-Jitsu gyms and this is by far the best. As other reviews have said, it is an environment based on the desire to see you succeed. Everyone literally made me feel like family since day #1. That being said, don’t think that you won’t be challenged. Another reason you are more likely to experience success in this particular Jiu-Jitsu gym—they have an actual curriculum with access to the Gracie University training videos. The ability to know (and review) what you will be learning in class, prior to physically doing it, has been paramount in my learning process thus far.

Ever since I first stepped through the glass door of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Milwaukee I have felt at home. Skye Middleton (head instructor) is professional, personable, knowledgeable, and available. Not only is he a technical and well respected grappler (by both his peers and students alike), he is great with kids (mine being six and nine). Having been a cancer patient for the past six years (now in remission) I was looking for an activity that could keep me in shape, provide reliable self-defense, and be something my whole family could enjoy together--Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is it! The class structure is refreshing, the curriculum is well thought out, and the environment is inviting. My sons absolutely love the "bully proof" program so much that we now have mats in our living room and we spend an hour a day doing jiu-jitsu at home. Furthermore, if you are looking for a place to train jiu-jitsu in Milwaukee Wisconsin this is it. Not only will you learn the famous "Gracie Jiu-Jitsu," but the atmosphere is just the right mixture of work (drilling and rolling) and play (as in positive attitudes, smiles, and "keeping it playful"). Skye's students are engaged, pleasant/polite, and hard working. In finality, as Rener Gracie (son of Rorion Gracie who created the UFC) would say and I would argue--Skye definitely "keeps it real."

Everyone at the Gracie Milwaukee family is amazing and always make you feel welcomed. Skye is super knowledgeable and is always willing to answer any question you have. From day #1 I fell in love and part of that is the atmosphere that the academy provides you. I've been a member for almost a year and I don't plan on stopping. As a girl, it was very intimidating coming into a predominately male classroom - but there is never any judgement and it's empowering to know we can hang with the guys. Gracie Milwaukee is great for any skill level and I would recommend it to anyone!

I came to visit Gracie Jiu Jitsu Milwaukee and was extremely pleased with my experience there. Not only was the place clean and easy to find but it was also very well organized and better yet, the people were genuinely friendly and attentive. I have the fortune of visiting many Jiu Jitsu schools in my travels and found Skye to be a top notch instructor. My 18 years of Jiu Jitsu experience can say without a doubt that you will receive instruction on caliber with the Gracie Academy in Torrence California! Skye's attention to detail and concern for proper execution is to be envied by most instructors. I felt equally welcomed by his student population. Usually as a higher ranked Jiu Jitsu practitioner, I get targeted by young up and coming blue belts looking to put a notch in their belt. I felt no such bravado in Milwaukee. Everyone was willing and helpful and concerned with learning and not focused on ego driven winning. No doubt this in an environment that has been carefully groomed by Skye and his attitude for learning jiu jitsu not only as a form of self defense but as a way of life, a true martial art. Skye is a refreshing experience in a world of competitive driven schools. If you are a beginner and looking for the perfect home to study Jiu Jitsu, or if you are a consummate martial artists looking to hone your self defense - this is the school for you. Sky makes Jiu Jitsu accessible and fun for anyone. I look forward to my return to Milwaukee for work and he will be the first place I stop to continue my Jiu Jitsu path.

As a strength & conditioning coach who works with clients every day, I am pretty picky when it comes to professionals in any similar field. Skye is a phenomenal coach who A. Knows how to effectively teach and help anyone get better, regardless of level and B. Is truly passionate about Jiu Jitsu and loves helping others learn it. I believe that having a solid curriculum with good progressions is key to helping someone learn and get better with any kind of athletic endeavor, especially with an art like Jiu Jitsu. While many martial arts facilities don't have one, Gracie Academy has a great curriculum with progressioned lessons to follow, go through and learn from. If you want to learn an extremely effective street applicable self defense system in a motivational and inviting atmosphere then this the place for you to come.

Even though I live in Madison, I drive 45 minutes to visit Gracie Milwaukee. It's the nearest Gracie Certified Training Center in southern Wisconsin and the Gracie curriculum is worth the extra time if you're at all interested in self-defense and learning a logically progressing system (don't discount this, your progress will go much faster when things are explained in a thought out way). Specifically to Gracie Milwaukee, Skye is a friendly, caring and knowledgeable teacher. His enthusiasm for his students' success is evident in the way he treats them as friends and shows them everything he knows. Some teachers treat you as a way to get medals or as competition, Skye treats you like another human being. Of course, the Gracie way isn't for everybody. If you want to sweat it on the mat 6 days a week so you can kill it in competitions with Berimbolo rolls and crazy 50/50 footlocks, Gracie Milwaukee probably isn't for you, but if you're looking for a safe place to learn self-defense and then progress into advanced jiu-jitsu that can both be fun and work in the street, you should definitely check it out!

Gracie Milwaukee is the fun, friendly and challenging environment I was looking for when searching for a BJJ gym. Skye has created a welcoming and positive environment, making Gracie Jiujitsu accessible to all. Skye has a super-solid background and training in his Jiu-Jitsu. He's trained in several places around the world under the instruction of the Gracies and their Certified Training Centers. He's also trained directly under Rener and Ryron in CA. We are lucky that he's brought the Gracie family flavor to Milwaukee. His knowledge of combatives and positive, uplifting atmosphere is second to non. There's nothing like it! Don't take my word for it! You just have to come see for yourself to experience the awesomeness that is GJJMKE! One visit and you'll be hooked for life!

For anyone looking to learn invaluable self defense in a warm, non-intimidating atmosphere, I cannot recommend Gracie Jiu Jitsu Milwaukee highly enough. I came to Milwaukee from another certified Gracie training center in Virginia and what I was most blown away with was the ease in which I was able to transition to GJJM. Skye Middleton, Head Instructor, is a very inviting person who genuinely cares about his craft and empowers everyday people (like myself) with the tools to survive any dangerous street encounter. What's more is that even the actual learning of the techniques themselves is quite fun and fit for anyone to try, as the techniques of Gracie Jiu Jitsu rely on leverage and natural body movements....not size and strength, as some might think. Again, I would recommend anyone of any age, athletic ability, gender, etc. try GJJM for 10 calendar days and I know they will be hooked for life!!

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Milwaukee was my first experience with martial arts and I’ve been extremely impressed and would highly recommend this Academy! As a student of the Women Empowered course for over 6 months, not only has my confidence increased, but I’ve learned many real-life, street applicable skills. The Instructors are knowledgeable and encouraging – and easily approachable. I look forward to the classes and the positive, upbeat, cooperative learning environment. The other students are not viewed as competition (although they are encouraged to push you to work hard so that you improve), but rather as cooperative learning partners. The Academy is always clean, and I look forward to attending classes and interacting with the many great people at Gracie Milwaukee.

I see many good reviews for this establishment but unfortunately this was not our experience. The instructor has no patience for younger children and should not be offering classes for them. Ironically, her programs are meant to build self esteem and ward off bullying but in one class the instructor managed to destroy my son's self esteem and bully him at the same time. She picked him up in a bear hug and carried him off the mat in the middle of a class and essentially told us she can't handle stubborn children. His only infraction was that he didn't want to be the "bad guy" - my son just turned five years old. It was not necessary to physically yank him out, i was several feet away and I can get him myself. This situation could have been managed much better without humiliating him. He was not disruptive to the class. I agree that he was not following every command but he is five. We would gladly leave if she can't handle strong willed children who are not robots but it was the manner that this was done that upsets me. Don't bring your young children here unless they are robots. Five year olds don't follow every command.
