I’ve been training for a fair amount of time. And I really know what I want in a jiujitsu school. The instructor is third degree Blackbelt under Royler Gracie. The instruction, drilling, and rolling is good for all levels. I’d recommend this place to anyone, local or even just visiting.

My husband & children have been training with Mr. Maurino for almost a year now. A month ago I joined the jiu-jitsu family as well. He's very professional & great with children. He not only teaches them jiu-jitsu, but the importance of self defense, helps them build self confidence, & educates them on bullying prevention. I recommend. 👌

I chose to to introduce my son to Jiu Jitsu because it is a more realistic fighting style than is taught at traditional Karate/Tae Kwon Do schools. Everyone has their own opinions about the merits of each fighting style, but the fact is that the vast majority of fights involve not flying kicks but rather grappling moves that end up on the ground. My son has been attending classes here for a few months now, and he has had a blast practicing this art-form. I absolutely enjoy having Mr. Maurino instruct my son at this Jiu Jitsu studio. The classes are small, which I love because all of the kids get maximum time of instruction. The classes are also broken up into appropriate age groups, and Mr. Maurino is flexible as to what days your child can attend. The location is not the easiest to get to, but the classes are very affordable, as we currently pay $125/mth., which is great because our disposable income isn't all that much, to say the least. I highly recommend this school to anyone considering introducing their kids to Jiu Jitsu. Mr. Maurino instructs his own son here and requires the same level of discipline for him as the students he instructs. He is absolutely amazing with the kids, and I hope you will consider this school as an additional learning experience for your children. No matter how much we would like to baby our children their whole lives, our children need to be taught how to defend themselves, and Mr. Maurino's school is a great place for kids to learn.

I trained with Maurino for 7 months before I got pregnant and loved it. As a female completely new to BJJ I didn't feel intimated at all. He broke down the moves and instructions. I can't wait until my toddler is old enough for his kid's class. Great academy and instructor!

Gracie Humaita Houston is such an awesome academy , the learning environment is second to none and the level of instruction is the caliber you would find in Brazil. I have had the best experience training here and will continue to train with Professor Maurino, I would recommend this academy to anyone looking for self defense training and competition training.
