Great place to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu! Professor Saul and team are fantastic! My son just started and I have gotten back into martial arts after many years and we are both really enjoying it. Gracie Barra Newport Beach is a great place to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We look forward to growing here. Highly recommend!

My son attended the Tiny Champions, Little Champions 1, and now the Little Champions 2 class and has loved them all. The instructors are all very patient with the kids and make sure to help each one throughout the course of the class. The parking used to be a little tough at times, but since the studio relocated a block down the street it has greatly improved! It's a great studio and the only one around that offers the Tiny Champion's classes for kids as young as 3 years old. At the new location they have expanded to two mats so there are now more classes for everyone. Besides the classes and teach the kids to have strength in their bodies, knowledge in their minds, and a non quitting attitude, the staff really seems to care and gets to know the kids. They have special events for different holidays, and give us parents an opportunity to join the kids for class on occasion! If you're on the fence I would definitely recommend coming down and meeting the staff and checking out the location to see for yourself.

Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu in Newport Beach is awesome! Professor Saul, and his highly professional team of coaches, have been amazing at easing me into the discipline. Being an older guy, I was a little apprehensive at first, but that went away quick due to the genuine care they show new students. Loving every minute of the training, and can't wait to see what I learn along the way. Wish I took up Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu ten years ago!

Gracie Barra Newport Beach has been a true gift to our family. My daughter, who is almost five, has been attending classes here for over a year now, and the growth we’ve seen in her confidence, discipline, and joy has been amazing. She absolutely loves going to class, and the instructors do such a great job keeping the kids engaged, focused, and most importantly—having fun. What started as a place for her quickly became something for all of us. My husband, who hadn’t practiced jiu-jitsu in over 20 years, decided to get back into it after seeing how much our daughter enjoyed it. That, in turn, inspired me to try the women’s only self-defense class—which I absolutely loved. I felt so empowered that I’ve now fully committed to the regular classes, and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, but what stands out the most is how well they connect with students of all levels and ages. They create such a welcoming environment, especially for beginners like me. I’ve become so much more confident since I started training, both physically and mentally. I truly can’t recommend Gracie Barra Newport Beach enough. It’s more than just a jiu-jitsu school—it’s a community that lifts you up and helps you grow.

Coaches and professors are dedicated and inspiring. Excellent educational training for our son, who comes 3-4 times per week and have improved his jiu jitsu skills. Love the sense of community, and the genuine support at tournaments.

This school is such a fun place to train! Saul is an amazing instructor and teaches key concepts that are not taught at other schools particularly pertaining to wrestling. The school has such a great vibe with awesome students and training partners who push each other to continue to improve. I absolutely love training here.

The academy has been an amazing addition to our family. My kids and I have been going here for over 2 years and love the instructors. I came from Marcelo Garcia’s academy in NY and can attest the attention to detail, quality of instruction and focus on safety is second to none.

This is a phenomenal place to learn jiujitsu. My son attends their tiny champions class and I am impressed every time he gets on the mat. He has been working on this sport here for about a year and a half and improves each day. The coaches are so helpful, teach him new skills, and help him hone the skills he has already learned but need to perfect. All the coaches, Jae, Saul, Aiden, Emi, and Mike are just great with this age group. Highly recommend this place.

Awesome place great training great location. These guys doing a fantastic job. Was in Newport for the weekend came here as a traveler from another GB. Got great tips for competition and good rolls all around. Special thanks to prof Saul and whole staff and students for being so welcoming. Definitely hit this place up if your in Newport.

The only drawback I have is that parking is a little tough at times. No matter, it's a great studio and the only one around that offers the Tiny Champion's classes for kids as young as 3 years old. I have not taken an adult class yet, but I'm looking forward to taking one soon.
I wasn’t sure about joining Gracie because I already had a gym membership. But BJJ workouts mix up your routine. So glad I joined and definitely will keep coming back
The best place to learn Jiu Jitsu out here. It's a great workout, and an even better student experience. Leadership is quick to set a safe environment where everyone can learn at their own pace, and challenge themselves to whatever extent they choose. They have a safety station to ensure everybody can temperature check and sanitize before practice, and they are extremely flexible with COVID-safe practices. You can mask up, drill on your own, or even get a friend to join with you and only train with them to keep exposure to a minimum! Welcoming environment with great people and staff. Nothing better.
I just started learning jiu jitsu a few months ago and I was very intimidated walking in as a female. I always wanted to learn how to defend myself but it was a little scary to start. I am so glad I was able to start taking lessons at Gracie Barra Newport. All the professors have something different to offer and they all make sure you are very comfortable. After a while your team mates become friends and it become very fun to come to class. It’s a major work out and you often come out feeling accomplished. I can’t empathize how great the staff are. Each professor participates in competitions so you know they are up to date on their stuff! I recommend this facility to all my friends especially if they want to feel confident when walking down the street. If you are scared of going I am telling you to go!

Gracie Barra is a great dojo to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The Professor's and Coaches are top notch, and very experienced. They foster an atmosphere of learning, respect, competition (the healthy kind), and inspire confidence. I have been training non-stop since July and my BJJ practice has seen amazing improvement. Coming from a striking background, I find the curriculum to be a challenge and I enjoy learning every day. Clean location in the heart of Corona Del Mar, and a stones throw away from Newport Beach & Laguna Beach. Highly recommended!!
