This place is fantastic and exactly what I was looking for in a kids class. I had done some pretty extensive research and planned on signing up but I always like to see how my 5 year old son is treated before committing to anything. My son is a beautiful soul with a bright personality, so I'm incredibly picky when it comes to how he is treated. I use it as a measuring stick for everything I decide to spend money on. Gracie Barra passed with flying colors. The coaches were excellent, as expected, but the receptionist/coordinator was a standout. She engaged my son in a friendly and genuine way, was patient with his questions, and none of it was fake. I was sold before class even began. She was also clear about prices etc and not pushy at all. My son loved the entire experience and we can't wait to go back.
Posted 11 months agoMy son and I had a free lesson tonight with the adults and teens GB1 class. We had a great time, love the structure, everyone was welcoming and helpful. There was no pressure at all to sign up, but we knew we would and did. There are a lot of negative posts out there for GB, but I can tell you there is nothing negative going on here. I highly endorse this location. Give it a shot and see for yourself.
Great place for you, your kids and your community.
My three kids have been going to this gym for about one month now and they love it. The instructor is super patient with all the kids highly recommended for anyone who is looking for martial arts. The owner is super helpful as well.
This facility is large and has plenty of space. The classes will naturally teach the children self discipline as well as self defense. My child has been coming to this gym for 2-3 months now and enjoys it. I also plan to join the adult classes at some point. In addition, this is a very welcoming environment and the coaching is really good. This is the third Martial Art facility I have been to and also the best I have been to. The pricing is very competitive to other gyms. One cool thing is you sign up to be a member of all Gracie Barra gyms around, which is nice. I highly recommend this gym to anyone!
Top notch! Both my son and I are members. He loves it, kids program is great. Gym is well run and clean. Coaching is fantastic. Everyone (staff and other members) is super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!
Good instruction and organization. Clean facility that’s easy to get to. Balance of fun and commitment to details for youth.
Really good atmosphere, my daughter is a beginner but enjoying every moment
My kids absolutely love jiu-jitsu and going to Gracie Barra is always an exciting part of their day. As a parent Im extremely grateful to give my kids an outlet outside of school where they can grow and build character while learning to defend themselves.
Great place and awesome Professor and staff!
I tried out the kickboxing class as a drop in and was glad I did! Great workout, and learned some really cool defensive techniques. Best of all the instructor was legit!
Great class for all ages. I have my 3 kids enrolled and they look forward to this class every week. Amazing experience and a fantastic way to gets kids involved in a timeless art.
Our son is learning new skills in a safe, laid back, clean, family friendly environment. Everyone is very supportive. Even if you are brand new like my son. Even I came to a few classes myself. It was a lot of fun. If I had more time I would continue, but I need to wait for more free time. This is a place adults and children to learn and make friends at their own pace.
Really enjoying their jiu-jitsu. I bring my whole family here.
No egos and a warm and welcoming community for beginners and experts alike.
Great gym. I've been attending more than a month. Beginner friendly and always great sparring partners. The kids groups look awesome!
I love the place, my husband and son had joined the classes and they absolutely love it. I’m a Brazilian and I love to see a lil of my culture here in the US, also the Jiu-jitsu teacher is amazing 👍🏻
Great gym. Great facility. Great staff. Great instruction. Would highly recommend to anyone who is serious about jiu-jitsu or just looking to get into shape.
Great coaching and patience with little ones. Always keeping it fun and entertaining for the kiddos.
Instructors are very patient with the little ones and keep it fun and engaging for them.
My son is really enjoying learning at Gracie Barra. He’s been going here for almost 5 months now and he’s already shown major improvement in his self defense skills. The instructors are very kind and patient with each student. And most of all, my son is having fun.
Great place to train my kids and husband attend Gracie Barra Jujitsu and I attend the Bang Muay Thai which I absolutely love. All the coaches are amazing and very helpful. I recommend bringing the whole family 💪
My kids have only been here for a couple months. The instructors are very attentive and my kids love it. Pricing is very reasonable as well. Great after school activity. I would recommend 👍🏾👍🏾
Very welcoming and friendly staff. The coaches are excellent. My kiddo is having fun learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and I love the Muay Thai classes. Overall great professionals and good atmosphere.
Been bringing our son here since he was almost 4 years old. Friendly staff and fun environment for the kids to learn basic skills and team building activities.
My kids absolutely love attending Gracie Barra. The classes are very straightforward and instructional. This has taught them how to successfully defend themselves while also having a good time. I highly recommend for all ages
They have always been so welcoming and kind. The coach is so good with kids and gives them confidence. My Daughter was three when she started and begs to go everyday. We are so grateful to have found Gracie Barra.
I've known Jack Ellis for a decade. He's among the hardest working, all round solid human beings I've been blessed to know. This is us after the grand opening of GB Marysville. Jiujitsu is one of the last remaining activities you can't simulate on a computer. You can watch 10,000 hours of BJJ techniques on YouTube, understand what's going on, and it doesn't matter. You must put in the time with the people on the mat. So choosing a place to train is not trivial. To be sure, Jack offers skilled instruction in the techniques of Brazilian Jiujitsu. Far more important is the vibe of the gym which is a direct outgrowth to the attitude and caring of the instructor. You know it when you walk in. Jack takes great care to cultivate an attitude of jiujitsu for everyone. You'll do yourself a favor by trying it out.
Do not sign up with them unless you can guarantee a 1 yr commitment. For two children we were being charged $330 per month. Our financial situation changed and we had to choose between after school care and jujitsu as after school care is $750 per month. I tried calling the Gracie Barras Marysville and they directed me to ABC Fitness who said I was on the hook as that's what the contract stated. The only way to break a contract is to : - Buy out the contract - Move more than 30 miles away (and even then, if there is a school 10 miles away they wont break the contract) - Illness or injury that prevents you from training WITH a doctors note. I had to send them my military orders and even now they are still fighting me on breaking the contract. I was told an internal team has to check my work address to make sure there wasn't another club close enough for us to go to. When it comes to the training itself, it's good for beginners if they are under 15. 15 and over do get better quality training. The problem we faced is our old school was stricter and had a more intense training program for kids under 12. As a result most days my oldest couldn't grapple with kids his age at his skill level because the teenagers were too big, but the younger kids didn't pose as much of a challenge. We also competed in my child's first NAGA event and was not aware that a coach was supposed to be there. The school had him down on the list, but no one showed up from his school. On the day of the event they almost didn't let him compete and luckily another coach from a completely different organization stepped up. All in all, the experience was not what I was expecting. And now, with the unwillingness to work with us due to a change in finances, it makes me hesitant to suggest their school to anyone else.
Posted 9 months agoIt’s a disorganized mess at this location. The girl at front desk wasn’t helping me. I wanted to sign up my kids and the only guy that tried to help me Vicente isn’t even there anymore I guess. They don’t know what they are doing from what I can see. Very confusing 🫤 not a friendly environment from the second visit to this location. A few friends of mine even said they have been double charged multiple times.
