We enrolled our 5 year old son a few months ago and we are so glad we made the switch to this studio! Our son loves the structure of his class, we find it's a great balance of focus on team work and fun. He really thrives on the routine they implement in each class. We love his coaches and the family atmosphere of this studio. We highly recommend anyone signing up for classes! After trying other Jiu-Jitsu studios we are so glad we found this one!

We love Gracie Barra- Lake Orion. Our son loves coming to class with Coach Michelle. She keeps Jiu Jitsu fun and engaging while also teaching perseverance and pro social behavior. The classes and curriculum are developmentally appropriate and teach great foundational skills. The coaches are very welcoming and encourage all children to do their best.

I came in knowing nothing, no prior experience, and no clue what I was getting myself into. To my surprise, I’ve found a friendly environment where everyone just wants to get better, together. The afternoon classes fit perfectly after my 9-5 and it’s great exercise. Mentally and physically. I would highly recommend giving it a try if you are thinking about it.

My experience was amazing! I live in Watertown WI, and met prof. Bryam and coach Wellington at a tournament, in Chicago. Their performance at the tournament was high level. The fights were incredible! When I got the opportunity to visit the school, it exceeded my expectations. Coach Nef welcomed me right away, he was so friendly. I also had a great experience with all of the students. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. Professor Bryam was attentive and gave me important tips that have changed my game. I can’t wait to be back and see the whole team again! Best school in the region for sure!

Incredibly focused and detailed Teachers of Jiu-Jitsu. Structured classes with easy to understand techniques for kids to pick up on. The facility is clean and good amount of seating for parents to sit and watch. My son absolutely loves the art and we're excited to watch him grow!!

Gracie Barra Lake Orion is Incredible! Extremely talented Professors and Coaches both National and International. I am in the best shape of my life at 45yo. If you were ever curious come out for a free class. The community is open and welcoming. We are taught to protect our training partners and learn techniques. Positions, Transitions and Submissions. There are even competition classes where you can learn to compete. With numerous medals stacking up by students. Joining GB Lake Orion has been a very rewarding experience and made me choose BJJ for Life.

Gracie Barra in Lake Orion is amazing. I don’t know where to start— there’s a lot to love here. The community is friendly & uplifting, the coaching is world-class, and the experience of learning Jiu-Jitsu is wonderfully accessible— even to someone like me, who started with no experience. I also love that my son and I can learn Jiu-Jitsu together. The kids programs teach Jiu-Jitsu and character-building simultaneously. My son also loves the Kids Parties/“Parents Night Out” where he can hang out with his friends, while me and his mom get to go on a date. 10/10 recommend!

It is my first martial arts experience and could not imagine a better place to start! From day one, it feels that you were part of the community all along. Professors and mates are very welcoming. I will list few things that made me included and happy with my progress: - Professors and coaches are closely watching movement details and help with corrections, tips, or how to avoid unintended injuries. - There is no over competitiveness, I can safely say that everyone trains hard while watching each others wellbeing. - Knowing that I have terrible memory on keeping names in mind, I could tell almost all names in a full class. I believe that it is good sign that we train and get to know each other like big team! - It is great that I am able to train with coaches after the classes on areas that I feel weak or inefficient, it helps my progress greatly. - It is also great some of us already joining competitions and earning medals and indicating good technical development :) - I was nervous to try but just walk in the door, you will barrow a gi, attend the class and here is your start, you will enjoy it! (there are free intro classes too) - It is brand new facility, clean and good thing is that it still same as the first day it opened :) Look no other place to start your journey!

I can’t say enough good things about Gracie Barra Lake Orion. Professor Bryam, Coach Nef and Coach Wellington are not only extremely talented BJJ practitioners but they create a welcoming environment for people of all ages and abilities to come train and be part of a welcoming community. We train hard but we also take care of our training partners. I have my 3 year old son in the Tiny Champions program where he learning discipline and respect while improving coordination and body control. I’m in the adult GB1 program improving my physical fitness, BJJ skills and making friends. Soon my wife will join the GB F program where they learn self defense techniques. Highly recommended BJJ school! Come try it out in a free trail class!

I’ve been wanting to join a BJJ gym for a long time but never felt like driving a long distance. When I found out they were opening a gym essentially right next to my house I thought it was a sign. I was nervous to go - and you reading this are probably nervous too. Just give it one try (they’ll borrow you a Gi). You don’t have to know anything and it’ll be a great workout. Two things I like most are the cleanliness (huge deal for BJJ gyms) and the vibe (no one is here to hurt you - no gym bros- and everyone has been extremely supportive). I hope to keep doing this for a long time.
