One of the best jiu jitsu schools in Michigan. David and Josh are great jiu jitsu instructors.
I dropped in from out of state and chose this gym based on the clean looking facility and high level coaching. The experience was great. Coach Josh is a stud and his instruction was excellent. The vibe here is great. There is a ton of talent in the room, but everyone was respectful and made sure safety of training partners came first. They are actively improving the facility, which is cool to see. I will train here again when I can.
I went here for a couple years every so often and hands down the best Jiu Jitsu gym i’ve been to in my life. No matter who is teaching we start class on time -I absolutely loved that. Exactly at the start of when class started, down to the second, they would start class. Rarely would it start 1 minute passed start time. It’s a minor detail to some but to professionals, it matters. When the time came to learn, the classes are direct, students are stand up individuals, there is also a thorough follow up on any individual with any question about a move. This is a gym that shows you what happens when no stone is left unturned. The facility is clean, organized and everything serves a purpose and when you’re there, you’re made to feel the same way. Thank you again David, Josh, Aaron, Calvin, Kyle for the classes! Going to miss the gym and will have to visit when in town!
The reception area is a great mix of professional and welcoming. It always smells good in there. Love the honor-system grab your own drink! Changing room and showers are great. Huge mat! Awesome training area (weights, pull ups, etc.) in the back There is no rule about ranked rashguards or only assembly branded rash guards on the mat - this was so refreshing But, the rashguards on sale are so awesome, most people end up getting one or a few. No beginners program per se but you get launched in the deep end in a good way. Instructors pair you with someone experienced who will walk you through the basics. Really grateful to all the blue and purple belts who would patiently ratchet up the intensity as my knowledge and execution slowly increased. LOVED the variety of instruction. - It's obvious by style and expertise that David is the Head Instructor, his classes are amazing. But I loved seeing the confidence he had in his team, if he's present at a class someone else is leading, he let's them run the show. - Had classes with David, Josh, Aaron, Calvin, and Kyle. Each one was really 10/10 but unique in their style and approach. - Special shoutout to Aaron as I did quite a few positional sparring classes with him. - I think that healthy variety accelerates the learning process. It was really cool being part of a gym that takes teams to regional tournaments and consistently dominates. All the guys at the gym are instant friends. They'll welcome you, pretty quickly include you in the ribbing, and push you to be your best on the mat. Didn't go deep with many of them but I have a feeling there are generally men of honor. I noticed in conversations that people would look to help each other out in work and things outside the gym. I don't have much experience to compare Assembly to other places but until I'm proven wrong I'll say it's the best gym in the country (at least top 10).
This has been such a great experience! I am a beginner and wasn’t sure what to expect when I started.. so right away on day 1 when I walked in- it was so welcoming and everyone there was so supportive and helpful. This truly is an excellent facility with top notch instructors! Keep up the GREAT work Assembly!
Assembly is hands down the best martial arts academy I've ever been a part of. The instructors are not only incredibly knowledgeable and skilled but also deeply invested in their students' progress. What sets Assembly apart is the sense of community they've cultivated; it's more than just a gym, it's a family. The classes are dynamic, challenging, and cater to all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, there's always something new to learn. The emphasis on technique and fundamentals has not only improved my jiu-jitsu game but also boosted my confidence on and off the mats. If you're looking for a place that will push you to grow both as a martial artist and as a person, look no further than Assembly Jiu-Jitsu.
Assembly Jiu-Jitsu is an absolute gem in the world of martial arts. From the moment you step through the door, you're welcomed into a community that feels like family. The instructors are not only incredibly skilled but also passionate about sharing their knowledge. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned practitioner, there's something for everyone here. The classes are well-structured, challenging yet accessible, and always leave you feeling empowered. The emphasis on technique and fundamentals is refreshing, ensuring a solid foundation for growth. Plus, the camaraderie among students fosters a supportive learning environment. Assembly Jiu-Jitsu isn't just a place to train; it's a place to grow, both as a martial artist and as a person.
I recently joined this jiu jitsu gym and I couldn't be happier with my decision. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and enthusiasm. The professors here are top-notch, with a wealth of knowledge and experience that they eagerly share with their students. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, there's something for everyone here. The training sessions are intense and challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. I've seen a noticeable improvement in my skills since I started coming here. One of the things that sets this gym apart is its welcoming culture. Everyone, from the professors to the other students, is friendly and supportive. It truly feels like a family here, and I've made some wonderful connections with fellow members. Overall, I can't recommend this gym highly enough. Whether you're looking to improve your skills, get in shape, or just have fun, this is the place to be. Five stars all the way!
Great coaches and students. High level jiu jitsu. Nice facilities.
From training at different academies and with multiple instructors Assembly thus far has the highest level of instruction and has a phenomenal room of talented students. If you’re looking to start a new hobby , get in shape , learn self defense or even if you want to become a world champion Assembly is the place to train. Competitors Look no further this is WHERE YOU NEED TO BE!!
Took private lessons with the owner, David Garmo, and he didn't disappoint. He didn't let me do any bad reps, was meticulous down to every step of the sequence, and made me repeat it several times slowly until I got it right. He introduced me to 100 kilo technique, where one leverages their own bodyweight combined with pulling the opponent into you while squeezing the whole time to not only stick to your opponent but also make them want to quit well before you get to a submission. Having a bodybuilding background myself, he also helped me periodize my lifting schedule as to incorporate bjj so I would minimize my risk of injury while getting my feet wet with jiu-jitsu. Additionally, he even introduced me around the gym to elite powerlifters that have successfully transitioned into bjj so I could pick their brain. If that wasn't enough, he even extended my sessions and gave me a very graceful time period of 12 months to complete my remaining sessions and I was going through a couple family emergencies. Overall, a smart and empathic individual who will level up your game regardless of your level. He meets you where you are at; would definitely recommend going not only to the classes but also signing up for his private 1-1 sessions! I have done a couple privates in the past in different places and it felt like they were just using a cookie-cutter method but David tailored everything to my specific goals.
Despite the “ASS” in assembly, this place is the exact opposite. Coolest group of people, as a female in a male dominated field, I have never felt uncomfortable rolling with anyone. Everyone is friendly & willing to teach, instructors are passionate & want you to succeed no matter your goals. Also, there’s showers & snacks
As a female participating in a male dominating sport I feel so comfortable with my peers and everything is friendly and welcoming. The instructors are always helping out and knowledgeable and passionate about it sport.
Could not recommend this place more!!! Should you venture into the school one day I’m sure you’ll quickly be able to realize why…tons of great training partners with WORLD CLASS instruction!!
I'm a newer student. This gym has been amazing, Matts are always clean, people are friendly, and everyone is willing to help you get better no matter your skill level. I'm brand new to jiu jitsu and have been progressing quickly because everyone genuinely tries to help you progress here
Phenomenal place, very welcoming, first time doing jiu jitsu and it’s immediately addicting, highly recommend!
Best in the state, no questions. Everyone is very knowledgeable and helpful
Great kid program (1 hour Tues. Thurs. and Sat.). The coaches are very patient and attentive. Highly recommend.
Great community, amazing technique, and a beautiful facility!
Hands down, the best jiu jitsu training in Michigan. Welcoming environment, with something to offer everyone; from the awesome youth program, casual practitioners, fitness enthusiasts, or high level competitive athletes, you’ll find it at Assembly. Proud to be part of this team.
The best place to train jiu jitsu in the Midwest. The instructors are top notch. The facilities are best in class and always clean and well maintained. The environment and culture is friendly and welcoming to beginners. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
Beautiful facility and undeniably the best Jiu Jitsu in the state of Michigan. Head coach David Garmo is the best competitor by a long shot out of Michigan, and the Assembly team does not show up to events in Michigan as a full team without bringing home team gold. It is a privilege to train with such high level athletes as a competitor, hobbyist, or someone looking to try a fun form of exercise/self defense.
I’ve been training at Assembly a little over a year now. The clean & professional facility, reputable and knowledgeable instructors, and the quality and friendliness of the other practitioners makes this gym stand out from the rest. I recommend Assembly to jiu jitsu hobbyists, where they can study amongst like minded practitioners; as well as top level competitors, who are looking to reach their potential on the big stage (you’ll be hard pressed to find a tougher room). Become a member and see for yourself!
Great instruction and atmosphere.
Absolute dawg house! And I mean that in the best way. highly recommend for any brand new to jiu jitsu as well as seasoned veterans. You will not be let down. Best gym in michigan by far!
World class facility. World class instructors. World class competitors. You get what you pay for.
Signed my son up for Jiu Jitsu lessons here. I’m currently watching him at his third session and I couldn’t be happier with our choice. The coaches are the perfect combination of friendly and stern with the kids. The other kids in the class are clearly being trained well as they know exactly how to handle training with a new inexperienced almost 6 year old. I highly recommend this place.
Enrolled my two sons at Assembly 15 months ago and they just participated in their first competition. The coaches and staff have been excellent and helped the boys develop both their skills and sportsmanship. Highly recommend you check them out if you're looking for a spot to train Jiu-Jitsu.
Awesome guys with great rolling experience. Learned a lot training here. Wish I didn't move so far away.
I can't say enough good things about Assembly Jiu-Jitsu. The head coach, David Garmo, is an amazing teacher. He is patient and knowledgeable, and he truly cares about the progress of his students. He takes the time to explain every move and technique, making sure everyone understands and can execute them correctly. The classes are challenging, but in a good way. The drills and sparring help you push yourself and develop your skills. It's also a great way to stay in shape. The atmosphere at the school is welcoming and friendly. Everyone is supportive of one another, and there's a real sense of camaraderie in the gym. It's an excellent environment to learn and practice jiu-jitsu. Overall, Assembly Jiu-Jitsu is a great school. The head coach and the staff are top-notch, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. I highly recommend giving it a try if you're looking for a high-quality jiu-jitsu school in the Detroit area.
I started training at Assembly in November 2021 and was immediately welcomed by the instructors and students. I was encouraged to increase my attendance from 2x a week to more, and when I pushed back to some of my peers, they understood (I later increased my attendance anyway). Everyone at this gym is considerate, down-to-earth, supportive, competitive, and knowledgeable. Sure, there's a few people I prefer not to roll with, but that's more of a function of me than it is of them. I train on my good days and my bad days. The community helps me stay centered and Assembly has become a group of people I cannot imagine my life without. I have gained friends, mentors, fitness, knowledge, and empathy for people I'd never meet or interact with. This is the best gym in Michigan, no contest. People go out of their way to help you and look out for you. I always learn something during class, and I always learn something through casual conversation. The gym has helped me build my network, as I now interact with electricians, contractors, lawyers, doctors, white-collar workers, blue-collar workers, stay at home parents, retirees, whatever. The facility is nice and well maintained. The staff is humorous, intelligent, mature. I have zero bad things to say about Assembly, and 100 good things to say. I wish I started training here earlier. Something special is happening and being built at Assembly. They say a rising tide lifts all boats. At Assembly, the tide is very high.
Visiting from Dallas, I dropped in for Sunday classes at Assembly. David to the coaches to everyone else training there was super welcoming from the time I walked in. The training was intense for sure, and incredibly helpful. Picked up some awesome details from Erin/Aaron who was running class on finishing triangles that I will no doubt take back home with me. It’s clear to me why they have such a great reputation.
Outstanding facility, clean locker rooms, hot showers and world class jiu jitsu. If your looking for high level training and the best training/partners in Michigan this is the place. Competitors this is the place I’m telling you.
After strength training for 6 months, my wife and I decided to complement our workout with martial arts. We always wanted to experience Jiu-Jitsu even with zero martial arts experience. We heard a lot about JJ and how intense of a workout one can get from training. We tried out a couple of JJ in the area but nothing came close to the experience we have at Assembly. As beginners, we were welcomed and the instructors who are all well versed, patient and engaging made our experience so smooth. The other participants are equally engaged in training and they provide a complement to the instruction. The gym offers instruction everyday of the week and sometimes 4 per day. I love that they offer 6am classes! If you are serious about BJJ, this is the place to be, top notch instructors, clean facility and exceptional group of guys and gals to train with. And if you want to challenge yourselve, they also train for competitions. Amazing!
Assembly was my first Jiu-Jitsu gym. The place has excellent instructors who provide personal attention to beginners and help them to the best of their ability. All experienced fighters in the gym help out as well and you get a chance to train with people of various levels from novice to experts. As for the facility, it is neat and well-kept. My short span in this gym was very helpful in terms of getting to know the basics of BJJ and all the coaches; David Garmo, Joshua Jhonson, Haisam Rida; have been instrumental in building the foundation of Jiu-Jitsu for me. Had I stayed in Michigan longer, I would have definitely ended up continuing my journey for years with Assembly. I highly recommend this place to any BJJ enthusiast in Michigan!
I came into Assembely not knowing anything about jujitsu. The coaches are super friendly and always make you feel welcomed. I came because I wanted to try something new but I stayed because I loved the environment, the people/coaches that never make you feel discouraged as a beginner. There’s so many wonderful strong woman as well. 🥰
Wonderful place to train Jiu jitsu. The people are amazing, kind and competitive. As a female, I feel so respected and safe in this space. Hands down, I recommend this place to any lady who wants to learn how to protect herself. The coaches are top notch. You’ll definitely find a team here that feels like family if you stick around. On top of all this, the facility is so clean and modern.
Assembly is an amazing gym where professionals and hobbyists both young and old can learn from world class instructors in a fun team environment. The business is well run, the gym is always extremely clean, and it has no contract commitment. Give it a try, it will improve your life!
Having only known instructor David Garmo as an enthusiast of korean cuisine, as the former manager of Soora (West Blmfld), I was happy to play crazy fight videos on the tv whenever he brought his boys for late dinner. Planning on stopping by. I need better training in the basics of defense.
Been training here several months. Nothing but great teaching and great competitors.
One of the cleanest and most well-maintained facilities in the world of martial arts/grappling. World class talent and day one hobbyists share the mats every day, and the health and size of the family speaks volumes. It’s a pleasure every day I’m able to train at this school.
The facility is clean and orderly. Everyone that we have met or encountered there has been nothing but friendly and welcoming. My two young daughters, myself and my husband all train here. Even if we take a break from training, it feels like home walking back through the doors. There are 3 black belt instructors with years of knowledge and experience. They have many higher ranked people and a variety of lower rankings too. The kids class is also a great experience. They incorporate fun activities with fundamentals. All of the coaches are patient and kind with the students. Highly recommend Assembly to anyone from brand new to experienced.
Not just a team but a family of such creative and strong individuals. This is THE place to learn martial arts and jiu jitsu, at the highest level of instruction in the entire state. Beautiful gym, showers, etc. Come check the mats out!
I would give it 10 stars if I could.
I have never met a facility that is as close knit and professional as Assembly. As a woman I have never felt anything other than completely comfortable being instructed here. The environment is incredibly welcoming and friendly. Being a first time Jiu-Jitsu practitioner I couldn't dream of a better environment to learn this art. You'll come for the wide range of classes but stay for the watch parties and team bonding at tournaments.
Before committing to this gym, I shopped around and tried a few other free classes. Assembly, by far, had the best facility and coaching. The instructor is very communicative, knowledgeable, and actively competes in high level competition. However, you will still find a nice mix of newer students, hobbyists, and committed competitors. Overall, this gives you a great variety of training partners. Bonus points if you like UK Drill music, Bruv.
I enjoyed it very much. The Personal instruction was more than expected. Very professional staff and facilities.
I’ve been training at Assembly for 7 months now. The detailed instruction from Dave and Haisam, along with the high caliber atmosphere and culture they’ve created in the gym, leave me walking out with greater confidence and determination after each class. Assembly is the most important place to be, especially if you’re aiming to compete and to go far in the sport. Plus there are lots of badass women too!! 💪🏻
Moved into the area, showed up here and felt right at home. Sign up!
Amazing group of guys, always felt comfortable and welcome. World class instructors.
Assembly elevates Jiu Jitsu. David Garmo and his staff have built an incredible, professional culture that makes everyone feel comfortable. Not only are the instructors extremely accomplished competitors, they are gifted teachers and good people.
I cannot say enough good things about Assembly. David Garmo and staff are top-notch. The facility is extremely clean, professional, and welcoming. Excellent training and culture. BJJ at its highest form practiced here. Highly recommend.
I have been training at Assembly for about six months now and in that time this place and the people who train here have become more than a Jiu-Jitsu school to me, they've become family. I had a back ground in wrestling but was brand new to BJJ. A close friend recommended Assembly to me and I am so glad he did. Co-owners David Garmo and Vladimir Abu-Ali are super welcoming to everyone who walks through their doors and overall just amazing people. Garmo and Rida Haisam are both world class competitors competing at the highest levels of the sport. Josh Johnson is another highly skilled black belt I am thankful to be taught by. I honestly feel so fortunate to be able to learn from all of these amazing instructors. A lot of the athletes here train for competition and our teams always do really well, but even if you're not an avid competitor the atmosphere is fun and friendly even when we're working hard. If you are looking for one of the top BJJ schools in the Midwest that also provides a fun family like atmosphere, look no further.
I’m 57 years old and have been at Assembly since the day it started with my son. I initially thought at my age to do this in order to get in shape; I got that and so much more. I got the best instructors, I got the best owners, I got the best facility, and I got the best family/friends. I love Assembly Jiu-Jitsu and it has given me more than I have expected.
Assembly Jiu-Jitsu is great place to train. The owners David Garmo and Vladimir Abu-Ali are very welcoming and friendly to everyone from visitors to members. The facility is top quality very spacious and clean. Classes from kids to adults are taught by great, knowledgeable and experienced instructors David Garmo, Josh Johnson and Haisam Rida. There is no better exercise than Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Submission Grappling. Lose weight, learn moves/techniques, build friendship and enjoy your Jiu Jitsu journey. From hobbyist to serious competitor, gi to no gi, new to seasoned practitioner. Assembly Jiu-Jitsu has everything want and need. OSS
Great School World Class Instructors Clean facility Great training partners World class training partners
Assembly is a great jiu jitsu school. The instructors are all top quality, the training is some of the best in the mid west, and the facility is beautiful. Would highly recommend anyone check it out, new or seasoned with jiu jitsu.
I've trained at several jiu jitsu schools in the area and this is hands down the best! From the hobbyist to the high level competitor, this place has it all. Incredible atmosphere and facility. Very welcoming and family friendly. The kids program is top notch as are the instructors.
Beautiful school and super high quality lessons/classes. Garmo’s doing everything right.
Hands down the best instructor and gym in Michigan. Fine details are everything to me. Every why, when, and how is answered. In just a few months time, Dave and the team have taken my grappling skills to another level. It’s only the beginning. This is my FAMILY!
A great place to come if you're a beginner. The place is clean, staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is very easy going. Highly recommended.
Everything about this place is a competitors dream! Awesome coaches, friendly environment, and amazing workouts!
Assembly Jiu-Jitsu is a very welcoming environment to both those with and without prior Jiu-Jitsu experience. David Garmo is an excellent instructor who is able to incorporate extensive experience into a language receptive to all learning levels. The gym is focused around a team approach and growing as a whole; everyone is willing to take the allotted time to facilitate your learning experience. Assembly is a place I would highly recommend to anyone interested!!
I was in town for work and looking for a place to train. Reached out to David and he could not have been more accommodating. Everyone was very welcoming, training facility was very clean, a ton of mat space, and David Garmo is an extremely knowledgeable coach. I would highly recommend Assembly Jiu-Jitsu for anyone looking to learn Jiu-Jitsu.
So while I live and train in Chicago I make regular trips to the West Bloomfield area to visit the in-laws. After looking at a few schools in the area I spoke with my instructor and he personally recommended David and his school. Since then I've trained gi, no gi, and attended a couple open mats. I will say without a doubt the facility and instruction are absolutely top notch. Not to mention David could not have been nicer or more accommodating considering I was just a drop in guest. All the other students were very friendly and welcoming as well and were great to roll with. David really does a great job of walking the line of pushing students in his class while still making it fun and enjoyable for all skill levels. Overall I would say if I were living in the area I would without a doubt be training at Assembly as they truly have it all. A great facility, great instruction/instructors, and an all around great group of students to train with. Highly recommend that anyone who's curious take the plunge at Assembly!
Beautiful facility with outstanding instruction. My favorite part about the gym is its atmosphere. If youre a serious competitor or just a hobbiest, theres a spot for you at assembly. Its alao quite nice having the ability to shower after training.
Instructors are professional and charismatic. Everyone is very welcoming and the atmosphere is casual and friendly. Instruction is top notch and I'm very happy with the individual attention I receive to make sure I'm learning the moves properly. Coaches give great feedback for correcting mistakes during sparring. Facility and showers are clean with tons of mat space.
Top notch facility. Very clean. Legit instructors. Try at least one session here if you have considered joining a BJJ gym.
Huge fan of this place! David Garmo is a fantastic coach with a natural charisma for teaching. His knowledge and experience make him an instructor I’m proud to learn from. Assembly Jiu Jitsu is a clean, bright and very well maintained facility. I would absolutely recommend training here to anyone beginning their journey into BJJ as well as to experienced practitioners continuing on the path!
I was in town for a week from California and could not ask for a better school to train. David and Vlad were class acts, very welcoming hosts. The facility is brand new, big mat area and great gi and no-gi classes. I sure hope to be back. Thank you David and Vlad. Yan Borges
My 15 year old son has been coming to Assembly since April. He was encouraged to try it out by some of his wrestling coaches at East Hills Middle and BHHS. He has learned a lot from David Garmo and even participated in a tournament this summer- and got first place! The atmosphere here is welcoming and I highly recommend it!
David Garmo is a world-class instructor. Come here and get the best training that you can.
Amazing Gym! Great open mat space! Great showers!
David is a remarkable teacher and pays excellent attention to each and every student. He makes sure that they understand the smallest of details can make the greatest impact on the execution of technique. His accomplishments also speak for themselves. Highly recommend Assembly to everyone.
As a wrestler of 4 years coming into jiujitsu I was welcomed with open arms by the instructor Dave Garmo and the community. I competed at a tournament under Dave Garmo’s coaching and felt nothing but Camaraderie from the team. All in all I would strongly recommend joining Assembly Jiujitsu.
Great place! Garmo made me better in all aspects of wrestling
Our son has went to multiple jiu-jitsu clubs over the years and Assembly is hands down the best out there. David is an inspiration to those around him by continuing to compete at a world class level and encouraging those around him to do their best. I highly recommend coming to Assembly to learn from the best jiu-jitsu instructor around.
I am brand new to Jiu-Jitsu and could not imagine a better place to have started training. To begin, our instructor David Garmo is an experienced black belt and a great teacher. He understands the level that his students are at and progresses lesson plans accordingly as we improve. When teaching techniques he provides individual attention to each student, ensuring that we are developing our skills. In addition, Josh Johnson, another black belt and awesome instructor, will occasionally teach class. Along with these instructors, more experienced members are happy to help newer students. I have learned a lot from Vlad (co-owner) during class and open mat. David and Vlad have created a welcoming environment where members leave their ego at the door and encourage one another to improve. Finally, the facility is modern, clean and beautiful. Assembly has large mats, locker rooms, showers and bathrooms that are always clean. There are even original paintings around the mats that can be appreciated while you have your opponent in an armbar (or in my case, while in an armbar), an amazing sound system, and a mini basketball hoop that I like to use to warm up before class. Furthermore there is a weight-lifting area that is open to students before or after class. We even have a lounge with a TV and seating, where I’ve watched many UFC and BJJ matches, and a coffee bar. David makes top-notch pour over coffees and offers other drinks such as tea and juices. If you are looking for a new gym to train or interested in trying BJJ for the first time, you have to check out Assembly.
Assembly Jiu-Jitsu, located in Bloomfield Hills, has been open for just a few months now, and quite a few of my wrestlers and I (I am the head coach of Bloomfield Hills High School’s wrestling team) joined and all I can say is it has been awesome. The school is owned by David Garmo and Vladimir Abu-Ali, and they have created an extremely modern training facility. David is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt who competes all over the world. He really knows his stuff. He makes practices tough but fun. It’s a great workout, and there are lots of people who are new to the sport. A beginner we feel welcome here. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get in shape and learn a self defense at the same time. I’d give it 6 stars if that was an option 👍
World class training facilities. World class instruction in a positive environment. My training experience here has changed my life for the better I’m so many ways. If you are looking for a place to grow, work hard and gain confidence, give Assembly Jiu Jitsu a try. I started out weighing 325 lbs. in just a few months, I am down to 280 lbs! I get better sleep at night, and I am even seeing improvements at work.
Top-notch facility with world class instruction
Beautiful facility. Friendly staff. Very welcoming for someone new.
Love learning this sport in such a clean and modern training facility. The staff is super knowledgeable too. I’ve learned so much in such a short time.
5 stars for multiple reasons. David and the other instructors have a lot of experience and are very detailed and patient with their teachings. The facility is clean and the atmosphere is welcoming. The gym area is large and the music speakers add another level of motivation to push further. All in all great experience every time I go.
Unbelievable facility! David Garmo is a brilliant instructor who is very detail oriented. He is able to break down a technique easily enough so that everybody is able to perform it, no matter what the experience level. Dave also goes around to every single person in the class and makes sure they are performing the technique correctly. I have done jiu jitsu for a few months but I feel that just one week of training at assembly has improved my technique drastically. Assembly offers classes almost everyday of the week, including morning and evening classes, which makes it easy to fit into my schedule. Besides the mats they have a workout area with many different types of functional training equipment. I have done many different types of workouts and fitness classes, but training jiu jitsu definitely is the best workout I have ever done. Not to mention the gym is state of the art. A brand new facility with locker rooms and private showers. They even have a lounge with a coffee bar inside. The first class is free so I definitely recommend checking out Assembly.
Brand new facility, multiple showers, clean locker rooms, awesome mats. Check. Black belt instructor that competes frequently. Check. If you are new to bjj or an experienced practitioner you will not be disappointed. The class formats promote learning. Positional sparring, focused drilling, takedown classes immediately following the main classes and open mats. David Garmo is an amazing instructor. He will make you better by refining those submissions or positions you thought you knew so well or by teaching the positions correctly from the start. If you are interested in bjj don’t put it off anymore. Get to Assembly Jiu jitsu and start your journey now.
The place is one if a kind. David Garmo is a black belt in jiu jitsu and it shows with his training especially for a beginner like myself. Highly recommend
One Star – Avoid This Gym at All Costs! If you value your free time or pride as a parent, DO NOT come to Assembly. First off, the coaches and elite athletes are so good at jiu jitsu, you’ll spend hours trying (and failing) to catch them. Meanwhile, your 6-year-old—yes, your 6-year-old—will become a certified assassin who can choke you unconscious and then go eat chicken nuggets like nothing happened. Ask me how I know. I used to have a life. I played golf. I took vacations. Now? I spend 10 hours a week getting crushed on the mats, and my kid refuses to skip class because “Coach would be disappointed.” I haven't enjoyed a lazy weekend in years. Also, prepare to live in your laundry room. I’m sweating through so many rash guards that I’ve had to shower and do laundry 3 hrs a day. My water bill is higher than my mortgage. Oh, and did I mention I’ve lost 80 pounds? That’s a third of my former self—GONE FOREVER. I've lost 1/3 of me. At this rate, in a few years I'll be gone. Seriously, avoid Assembly unless you want to be addicted, embarrassed by your own child, and stuck in a never-ending cycle of sweat, mats, and laundry. …But if you’re okay with all that, I guess I’ll see you at class.
