My son wrestles and my daughter has begun kickboxing. The facility was very nice - clean, plenty of space, and all necessary resources on site. The coaching by Roberto, Alex, and Johan is exceptional. This is a great place for children and adults to learn and grow.

GB Jacksonville is a great place for kids and adults! You don’t just get in a workout and learn self-defense. You make friends. Coach Dean does an amazing job teaching kids jiujitsu, while instilling discipline and respect in them. And all of the kids’ coaches keep it fun and patiently work with the kids to help them develop and grow. Professor Juan and Professor Justin don’t just explain how to do a move but when and why you may want to use it. The whole GB Jacksonville team wants to see everyone learn and succeed. I couldn’t recommend this business enough if you’re looking for a place to learn jiujitsu or self-defense.
This is a great place to train at. The instructors are great at explaining everything. If you have any questions they are more than willing to help you out. They definitely deserve 5 stars.
Signed up at Gracie Barra this week and I'm liking it so far. Jiu Jitsu is a lifestyle and takes a lot to learn but I'm sure it's going to be a good journey and based on the trainers and their system here I will be well guided the entire ride.

Gracie Barra is an incredible gym for all ages to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Classes are well-structured with knowledgeable instructors focused on teaching effective techniques in a safe-environment. Advanced classes are available to more advanced practitioners that want to push themselves harder and learn more complex concepts. Joining GB Jacksonville has been one of the best decisions that I have ever made.
Visiting from out of town and was able to take a class. Everyone was very nice and was able to get some training in while on vacation. I would recommend for anyone in the Jacksonville area.
I have been wrestling for most of my life, and I have long wanted to join a gym to learn the craft of Jiu Jitsu. Through my time here so far I have been welcomed into a house built on respect for each other and a culture of martial excellence. All of the instructors have given me the attention I needed to excel in this craft and I could not be more happy with my experience.

Hands down, one of the best BJJ training gyms I’ve been to. Facility is exceptionally clean and large enough for big classes. Professors and coaches are extremely helpful and encouraging to both new and experienced students. Although I split time training in New York and Florida, I always look forward to coming back to Gracie Barra Jacksonville.
Took my two daughters who train in GB Long Beach while we were in town, super welcoming from Professor Juan and Cory. Beautiful facility, great kids program. My girls had fun taking their Saturday morning class on our visit. Coaches, staff, students and parents at this location are friendly and welcoming. The workout is second to none. The instructors are patient, kind and set an amazing example for children and adults alike. My two sons and I have been training here for a few years and we love it. Great self defense techniques in a safe, enjoyable environment. If you have ever thought about trying this, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. I bet you will love it. Love this Brazilian Jujitsu gym! My daughter and I have both trained here and it has been a huge wake-up call to how out of shape I am lol. The owners and instructors are all very kind, patient, and motivational: They take their time to demonstrate techniques and I never feel put on the spot or uncomfortable practicing even with the higher-level trainees. It’s a fun class with high energy, passionate teachers and students and I felt at home the moment I walked in. Best bjj gym in Jax!

Our family was interested in trying martial arts so I looked around Jax for a place that offered Brazilian jiu jitsu for adults and children and found Gracie Barra. They have a big new facility on the Southside and the instructors are great, which we appreciate since we are beginners. Me and my wife and kids have been attending for almost a year and we all love it. They also have personal training that I’ve been doing with Juan, which has helped me both learn jiu jitsu skills and get in shape. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a BJJ gym in Jacksonville, FL!

My kids had been going to Gracie Barra Jax for a while and loved it. And I loved how great the instructors were and the place had a genuine FAMILY feel to it. One day while waiting to pick one of the kiddos up I thought "Why am I not doing this?" After thinking of at least a dozen reasons I shouldn't, I just bit the bullet. I was here all the time anyway and I desperately needed to shed some of the weight I'd gained during COVID. I set an ambitious goal to lose 25 lbs. A year later now, I have lost 49 lbs and am feeling better than I did 25 years ago! I'm still not that great at Jiu Jitsu, but I am slowly seeing progress and my confidence is growing. I've made great friends and love learning from such an amazing staff (especially Professor Juan, Coach Korey, and Coach Mackenzie) who push me hard but never make me feel like a failure. Gracie Barra Jax is just... special. It has changed my life.

I’ve been training here for 2 months now and I love it! Gracie Barra Jax is a special place. Shoutout to the coaches and professors for their dedication and openness to teach both the little ones and adults. That being said, there are excellent coaches for both jiu jitsu and muy Thai kickboxing. Would highly recommend!
My 4 year old daughter Luna recently started jiu jitsu classes here and I have to say, we are so grateful for Gracie Barra! Started taking my 5 year old son here about 3 months ago now and he is having a blast. I started up myself about a month ago as well and only wish we had both started sooner. Great coaches and Professors, clean facility, just an all around great environment. Highly recommended!
This gym has been amazing since day one! My son started there over two years ago and we would never consider taking him anywhere else. Very friendly staff, great with the kids—they really focus on the individual needs of each child. Coach Korey is always super welcoming, makes us feel like family. Gym is kept clean and tidy. They even offer summer camp!

I took my 6 year old for an introductory class and I was so impressed by their program. The coaches were welcoming, professional and answered all our questions. Coach Cory, Coach Hector and the entire staff have been amazing to my son and I. Their dedication and love for teaching shines through. I moved to Jacksonville just over a year ago and tried a few different academies before I came here but I chose Gracie Barra because of the variety of classes they had to offer including gi, no gi, wrestling, kickboxing and they even have their own gym equipment if you wanted to come in and get your own workout in! Another plus is that your membership allows you to train at ANY Gracie Barra school around the world. Also, I love the energy and its a super friendly environment! My experience has been nothing but positive since I started coming here. The professors and coaches are wonderful and they are all very passionate about the sport and teaching. They are always willing to help and answer any questions you may have about techniques. They are extremely supportive and they will push you to be your very best, ESPECIALLY if you want to compete or fight. Highly recommend!
My children started training at Gracie Barra a few months ago. It is really such a blessing in our lives. The kids really enjoy it and in such a short time have already picked up quite a bit! Thus far for over 2 1/2 years we have enjoyed our experience with Gracie Barra of Jacksonville. Our son is in the GBK2 kids class, and loves all his sessions especially sparring and private lessons. This gym is spacious, clean, and the entire staff and coaches are great to work and communicate with. This is the perfect outlet for obtaining self-defense training and is a confidence booster. Gracie Barra Jax (GB) is an excellent choice for those interested in Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing. I trained at GB in 2016 and have returned after a hiatus. The facility is spacious and well maintained. The staff members are professional and welcoming. The curriculum is consistent and challenging, but doable regardless of skill-level. Overall GBJ is one of the best martial arts schools to train at in town.

My son and I have been training at GB JAX for some time now. From the first day we walked thru the doors the staff welcomed us as if we're family. They are very professional and take the time to make sure you train properly, they explain each move in detail. During the recent events with COVID-19 we received a personal phone call to check up on us and see if there was anything they can assist with. I’ve never practiced a contact sport such as Jiu-Jitsu before, I just didn’t think I had the physique for it. I joined Gracie Barra to please my husband really but here I am, several months later, and really enjoying it. I am impressed about many things; the professors, each with their unique style which makes it fun and refreshing. The other more advanced students are also very kind and helpful with the new students. The curriculum is not just BJJ. There are Muay Thai classes and some of the advanced students are practicing their MMA training. The kids classes are a riot- it’s a lot of fun seeing the little ones practice. The core exercises and physical conditioning aside, the classes are great and I could not recommend this academy enough! Sure, it’s not for everyone but try to stick with it. You’ll be surprised how good it is to meet these people and much much it feels like a very large family. And the GB students of Jacksonville seem to win most competitions. It’s a good place.

Great facility and great people. I have been to a few gyms and the training here is first class. I have never been to a place that has this many black belts and they are all very good teachers. This is a place that is right for all levels and experience.
Traveling from Houston for a wedding needing something to do while the girls got ready. I train at Rilion Gracie gym in Houston and was Looking for another gracie affiliated gym, This was a good stop, the guys here were welcoming. I was able to get an hour of open mat training in.. had the opportunity to roll with a few experienced guys.. highly recommended.. if you’re ever like me and just like to get in Jiu-Jitsu training whenever you can and are from out of town.. this is a good gym to stop at..
We ran a Robotics Workshop for the Summer camp kids. The staff is great and really work well with the kids. The kids were luving the Summer Camp and they took to Robotics very well. This is a very inviting place to train and they have me about to sign up now!
The people here are so friendly professor Robert is so knowledgeable and his instructions during class are so easy to follow! It's like I'm back at my home school you get that real family feel, I got a really good vibe the very first time I walked through the door!

There is no better place to build strength and confidence! Part of the community for years—part of our family! I can't wait until my baby is old enough to join. They build character, and discipline, and I think they let you take a class for free, double check their site for that, I'm not sure.

My daughter enjoys the class 3-4years old. And it helps her exert some energy and structure. The coaches are patient and compassionate but still firm on manners and healthy discipline.
Tried to cancel membership today and they charged me a $170 “cancelation” fee aka rip off. Parents beware. Furthermore, they sent me some random contract that I never signed…. See email response below from this company: Hey Amber, We are sad to hear that Journey will no longer be training with us but do understand things happen. Per our membership agreement, we have processed your cancellation fee of $170. Journey can come in and train until 03/24. If you have any written documentation of your cancellation request any sooner than today, please send it over our way. No further payments will be processed. Thank you Beware… they only care about your money.
