Having practiced traditional and non-traditional martial arts for most of my life I was pretty comfortable with starting BJJ. I was a bit apprehensive about starting something new and quite physical given that I'm in my 40s now but now I see that was unnecessary. Sometimes gyms that have a well established team can be a bit standoffish but I am pleased to say that everyone, from the coaches, higher level students, and the newbies starting with me) where exceptionally welcoming and friendly. The team of coaches take pride in what they do and and expert at helping everyone progress at the right pace for them. I've been attending 2 classes per week for about 5 months and I absolutely love it. Every time I leave a class I feel like I've learned something new and valuable, even if it's just a confidence boost from comparing how far I've come since the beginning. I can't recommend it thourghly enough for anyone thinking about joining. The facilities are great, the squad are friendly and helpful and the coaches are excellent.
I’ve been training at GB Dundee for around 3 years now. The coaches are super friendly and really take the time to help you improve. The atmosphere is positive and everyone supports each other, no matter your experience level. I always leave class feeling great and excited to come back. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!
My boys have been attending Gracie Barra for some time now, and the experience has been nothing short of amazing. From the moment we walked in, the coaches made our kids feel welcome, supported, and confident. The environment is positive, clean, and full of encouragement, exactly what I was hoping for. I’ve seen tremendous growth in my kids, not just in their Jiu-Jitsu skills but in their overall character. They’ve developed discipline, respect, focus, and resilience. The qualities that carry over into school and everyday life. Professor Val and Coach Ryan do an incredible job balancing fun with hard work, and they take the time to teach each child throughout the class. If you’re looking for a place that will build your child’s confidence, teach them respect, and help them grow in a positive, supportive environment, I can’t recommend Gracie Barra highly enough.
I started training with GB Dundee around 2 years ago and pretty much never looked back. They have everything you need with changing rooms, shower facilities and 2 separate matted rooms to cater the multiple classes running every day to suit your life schedule. There is a wealth of knowledge between coaches to learn from varying in styles who genuinely enjoy helping you better your jiu-jitsu and self defence.
Both myself and my seven year old son attend GB Dundee. Professor Val and Coach Ryan are amazing with the kids. They always have time for them and my son absolutely loves going. He's progressed incredibly well in BJJ and it has boosted his confidence all round. Since I started going I've seen a big improvement in my strength and cardio. My team mates are very welcoming and I find the sport of BJJ very interesting. I only started in January and have already had the opportunity to meet two high level black belts at seminars hosted by Prof Val. I would highly recommend Gracie Barra Dundee to anyone in the area who wants to try BJJ or learn vital self defence skills 🤙

A very welcoming place, from team mates to all the coaches , and it’s been a real game changer in terms of living a much healthier lifestyle. Every session you come away wanting to better yourself and wanting more BJJ. I’ve also got two of my kids involved now also and they love it as much as me. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Posted 1 year agoWhen it comes to starting a martial art, it can be daunting, especially if you're overweight/unfit. From the minute I've walked in to GB Dundee, I've been made to feel more than welcome and supported all the way. There's a positive atmosphere that really encourages the best out of you whilst also maintaining that interest in a such an interesting complex martial art. The facilities are flawless, you'd struggle to find a problem with them as they're always kept to a high sanitary standard! The timetable is so accommodating to your lifestyle/work schedule that makes it so easy to attend the classes without feeling like you're sacrificing things to fit around the class. I started on the beginner block with professor Val and it was the introduction that had me hooked, anything myself or others in the class wanted to know more about, he explained with great detail and demonstration. He has always been approachable and maintained a professional level when teaching the class but also been friendly where you really do get the most amount of information in the funnest way possible. I can honestly say that I've enjoyed every class I have been to meeting new people, building fitness level and learning the martial art. When it comes to #BJJDundee, Gracie Barra is the right place to start that journey!
